    Elves don't currently have any good commanders for WBG. The closest they have is Kethis, the Hidden Hand. And it would be kinda nice to see an Elf tribal deck that isn't just monogreen or BG.

    GUR Elementals, that's a tougher case as we now have Animar, Maelstrom Wanderer, and Omnath. But I don't know a better tribe for GUR than Elementals (Maro feels Dinosaurs lean GUR, but we need a world with more blue Dinosaurs for a GUR Dinosaur Commander deck to happen). It's like when they made the UBR Wizards deck in C17; we already had Jeleva, Nekusar, and Marchesa, but Inalla, Kess, and Mairsil gave us new options, and Mairsil gave us a card for a character from way, way back when.

    If Knight isn't considered the second white tribe, then I'd say Cat definitely should be not only for the Puss-in-Boots reference but also the traditional animosity between Cats and Faeries. And hey, we might then see more Cat Knights a la Balan, Wandering Knight. Dwarves as a RW tribe are also perfectly possible.

    Most Magic sets like to have a couple distinct tribes in addition to Humans per color. Theros for example had Cats and Centaurs in white, Merfolk and Sirens in blue, Minotaurs and Zombies in black, Minotaurs and Satyrs in red, and Centaurs and Satyrs in green. Amonkhet had Birds and Zombies in white, Birds and Naga in blue, Minotaurs and Zombies in black (sounds familiar...), Jackals and Minotaurs in red, and Jackals and Nagas in green. Some tribes are represented in two colors, especially as a drafting theme, while others are mostly kept to one color with the occasional multicolor bleed.

    So for Eldraine, perhaps we can guess which two tribes would be most appropriate for each color?

    W Faeries, Knights
    U Faeries, Merfolk
    B Hags, Ogres
    R Dwarves, Ogres
    G Elves, Wolves

    Each set also has general needs that have to be met for gameplay reasons, like large fliers in white, blue, black, and red and a variety of big and small creatures in general. Not to mention, every color needs options for evergreen keywords, like flying, first strike, and trample. Sometimes, the source material does not provide adequate material for a particular need, and so some original material must be inserted and adapted for the flavor.

    White healing - Angels, Cats, Clerics, Wizards
    Small white fliers - Birds, Spirits
    Big bottom-heavy white - Elephants, Giants, Oxen, Rhinos

    Blue utility - Artificers, Merfolk, Rogues, Vedalken, Wizards
    Big blue stompies - Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, Serpents
    Big blue fliers - Sphinxes, Djinn

    Black deathtouchers - Assassins, Insects, Rats, Scorpions, Snakes
    Black lifelinkers - Bats, Vampires
    Small black fliers - Bats, Harpies, Imps, Insects, Spirits
    Black graveyard - Skeletons, Wizards, Zombies
    Big black fliers - Demons, Specters

    A deck themed around luck and chance does sound kinda fun. I only wish die rolling was black border, that was my favorite part of Unstable. Honestly, I'd enjoy die rolling more than coin-flipping, especially if they can make use of D4, D8, D10, D12, and D20 in addition to D6. If they ever do a D&D inspired setting, that'd be the perfect place for it. There are also a lot of different ways to use dice; you can have three possible results equating to hit, critical, and miss, or a Catan-inspired mechanic where you roll for resource production using a D6 or D12. Of course Planechase does make use of a planar die, so die rolling already is black border to some extent.

    Hey, maybe they can come up with Commanders themed around die rolling? Kinda like they did with Experience counters? To keep it simple, each Commander uses a D6 with special symbols on them. Each symbol has a different effect (similar to the Hedronize mechanic tested for BFZ). A couple examples:

    UB
    Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, roll the D6.

    Book - Draw a card.
    Coin - Create a Treasure token.
    Chest - Exile the top card of that player's library. You may play the exiled card for as long as it remains exiled.
    Dagger - That player discards a card.
    Poison Vial - That player gets that many poison counters.
    Skull - The player loses half their life, rounded up.

    RW
    Whenever a creature you control attacks, roll the D6.

    Sword - The attacking creature gains first strike until end of turn.
    Shield - Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to the attacking creature this turn.
    Heart - The attacking creature gains lifelink until end of turn.
    Hammer - The attacking creature gains trample until end of turn.
    Horned Helmet - The attacking creature gains menace until end of turn.
    Double Sword - The attacking creature gains double strike until end of turn.

    Legendary Creature - Naga Wizard
    Whenever a Naga or Snake creature enters the battlefield under your control, you may tap another target creature. That creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.
    3, Tap an untapped Naga or Snake creature you control: The tapped creature deals damage equal to its power to another target tapped creature.
    1, Discard a card: Target Naga or Snake creature you control gains deathtouch until end of turn. Activate this ability only once per turn.

    Queen Kalissa is themed around the three most common weapons snakes use in media: hypnosis, constriction, and venom. Her three abilities each reference one of these effects. The first effect is the hypnosis part; whenever a Naga or Snake enters the battlefield, it can hypnotize another creature, tapping it down for a turn. The second ability is primarily constriction; the Naga or Snake squeezes another creature, but they can only target a creature that's tapped (say, by the hypnosis effect). The third ability grants deathtouch to a Naga or Snake for a turn, which turns the second ability into a venomous bite. Thus, Kalissa's three effects work in tandem.

    I'm not a fan of using Fog effects to represent restraint. Yeah, I guess it makes some sense mechanically - the restraint prevents the creature from dealing damage - but to me such a snare should be long-term, and possibly tied to damage. Plants and Snakes can just use fight or bite effects to represent constriction, but spiderweb needs a slightly different execution as its main purpose is to restrain prey until the Spider administers its fatal bite. That said, I see where you're coming from regarding using regular "biting" over "butt biting".

    I have an idea for a related card that uses a similar "move and the Spiders eat you" kind of trap, but swapping activation out for tapping. Perhaps I should try using it on Web-Trap Spider as well?

    Whenever enchanted creature attacks, blocks, or becomes tapped, each Spider you control deals damage equal to its power to it.
    The worst thing you can do is get caught in the web. But if you do get caught, the next worst thing you can do is thrash about in a desperate attempt to escape.

    Squee's Embrace is one way to save Gerrard from exile. And you can bring the Embrace back with Tiana, Ship's Caretaker.

    You know, I realized a little while ago that Gerrard could have had a Heroic ability instead, which would have worked tremendously with the instant/sorcery theme. How could they have missed such a golden opportunity!?

    Because green isn't supposed to get the kinds of tapdown or arresting effects that would flavorfully represent its use of restraints - like web, vines, or coils - I've designed this card to explore possible alternatives of effectively immobilizing a creature in green while staying true to green's color pie.

    Web-Trap Spider 3GG
    Creature - Spider
    Reach
    2G: Put a web counter on target creature.
    Whenever a player attacks or blocks with or activates an ability of a creature with a web counter on it, ~ deals damage equal to its power to that creature.

    If a webbed up creature struggles, the spider deals damage to it, quite possibly killing it. Therefore, the webbed creature's controller won't be eager to actually attack or block with or activate abilities of the webbed creature. Normally Web-Trap Spider would fight or bite the webbed creature, but since Spiders usually have toughness greater than power, instead it uses "butt biting" (a combination of biting and "butt fighting").

    Silver border, sure, but when I see a gingerbread man in black border Magic, that confectionary colossus is the first thing that comes to mind.

    My general impression of Golems and Constructs vs. Elementals is that the former are composed primarily of metal or stone while the latter are composed of basically everything else. Earth Elementals confuse matters, but where Stone Golems seem to be artifically cut and shaped, Earth Elementals seem to be conjured and shaped from the earth purely by magic.

    Which, that being said, I guess I could see the Gingerbread Man being considered a Construct or Golem rather than an Elemental, but to me the materials are too organic to qualify as an artifact creature. Most every artifact involves metal or stone in its composition, even artifacts made chiefly from wood or leather.

    BTW, Maro leans Team Elemental for animate snowmen.

    Here's the common for my proposed tribal Commander set. I wanted to design something that felt especially appropriate for a tribal commander deck, so I made sure that the common referenced your commander in some way, and that it cared about creature types. To ensure it could see play in any tribal deck, I made it a colorless changeling, and I made it cost 2 so it could fill a low cost slot for tribes that usually have trouble finding cheap creatures (like Angels and Dragons).

    T: Add one mana of any color in your commander's color identity. Spend this mana only to cast a creature spell that shares a creature type with your commander.
    A servant suited to serve any master.

    Oh, okay, so Rowan and Will are basically the princess and prince of Eldraine's Camelot. In that case, Eldraine's King Arthur should be fairly true to the source, appearance wise. That's a relief.

    Based on the needs every set has, yeah, I could see Giants being a proper tribe. Since Angels and Sphinxes are unlikely, I could see larger Faeries playing their role. You know how the Zelda series has Great Fairies that play the approximate role of Angels? I picture larger Faeries being like that. Even Demons could be supplanted by black Faeries. And really, what better world to promote Faeries as a WUB tribe than the Fairy Tale world?

    I also think BR Ogres are likely. We might see more GW Cat tribal, too. After all, Cats play a role in fairy tales. Could BG be Hag or Witch tribal, I wonder? Of course red could have some witches as well, but it's something different for BG than the usual graveyard shenanigans. And hey, Cats are often familiars for witches! Which of course means we could see some black Cats as well.

    What I wonder is which types are going to be fleshed-out tribes in Eldraine? Innistrad took classic movie monsters like Dracula and the Wolfman and turned them into entire tribes. Will we see multiple Giants or Wolves? I think we're all expecting Faeries of course.
