But this looks nothing like Yawgmoth... His apparently now canonical form appears on Yawgmoth's Vile Offering. And there he looks much more like the art you're referring to.

Just letting you know, if Mairsil has caged a Reassembling Skeleton, he wont have the return ability while Mairsil himself is in the graveyard, as his actual on-card ability is only active while on the battlefield.
I can't remember where I saw this but I wanted to play that combo as well, and in a thread on the subject found that it's not possible. Slant

EDIT: Here's another similar thread: https://tappedout.net/mtg-questions/mairsil-the-pretender-and-self-referential-graveyard-effects/

I'm sorry but could you please stop bragging about your promo on every single thread? Its not like you found a black lotus, or even an invocation or something; and you're not the only one to find a bolas. Bragging about it constantly seems petty and since its irrelevant, annoying to encounter everywhere!

    Thanks for understanding

    Edit: Also, Cheers!

Does anyone else notice that Gideon is the only art that has a crack through the character on it? To me, this could represent the coming of his death by Bolas. Anyone else?

I did notice that, and i also think that there are hints in all the arts...

    My guess:
Jace gets his mind wiped, and (as the Ixalan sheet betrays) cast away. There is a smaller version of him in an utterly dismayed pose in the background.
Liliana becomes Bolas's slave. Notice her head is crowned by Bolas horns
Nissa either dies, or loses her spark. There is sand leaking through her, which could symbolize either blood, her spark, or her magical powers
Chandra is the only one not facing Bolas. So i think she'll retreat and planeswalk away before the end is upon them
And Gideon has a crack through him, which i take to mean that Bolas will literally break him.

It could be just a coincidence, but i think they independently form a pattern. And it would be nice to have actual hints in the art, and not just random tidbits.

Perhaps the fourth sister of the innistrad W-x legendaries which avacyn imprisoned in the moon, the WB one? a new one to further the plot of a plane we haven't heard of in a while? (like meren of clan nel-toth was)

But it doesn't have to support both tribes. The Ur-dragon does not support either spirits, avatars, cats, or monks yet they all bear some part in well, its deck.

However it generally still is just speculation.

I never claimed i was sure that angel/demon deck was sure to come, i was just asking if that reprint was a hint.

But still, we have no proof of spirits or of anything else apart from cats and dragons, no matter how likely we think any one of them is.

Wizards will print what they see fit, and as usual, they wont get it right on the first try. After we've all complained on blogatog about what tribes were missing, maybe then we'll see the ones we actually need and want.

I don't know if this has been pointed out, but among the dragon deck leaked cards is Tyrant's Familiar, which uses the Lieutenant mechanic.
It seems extremely unlikely that they would reprint a card with a mechanic that is part of a unique cycle, and not reprint any of the rest.

So for reference, the other 4 cards in that cycle are:

    Angel: Angelic Field Marshal

    Demon: Demon of Wailing Agonies

    Kraken: Stormsurge Kraken

    Beast: Thunderfoot Baloth

So i guess that could be an indicator as to what the other 2 decks are...

My guess is that Thunderfoot Baloth will be included in the Cats deck,

then i think there will be a WB Angels AND demons deck with the white and black lieutenants

and then a monoblue deck with Wizards theme and a Leviathans subtheme, which will include the blue one.

Thoughts? is there any chance they would reprint only one of the cycle?

    Oh really?

If you say they would print that cycle in this.

Why was thunderfoot the one and only one printed in commander 2016.

No... I think Tyrant's familiar is going to be the only one in this Commander set.)

Spirit/human esc tribe/avater has the best chance right now for the other 2 spots.

What the cats and dragons have in common they needed a better commander and also they both have a cat and avater best indication of this being correct is if the cat deck gets a dragon and a spirit (with cat type included Ofcoarse.)

Spirit/human-esque tribe has equal chance as any, except less so than angels or demons, seeing as they're not as iconic.

Going based on that the first deck has a cat-dragon and a dragon-avatar, to assume that the rest will be in the same fashion is a fallacy. It is much more likely and rational that each tribe simply has a tribe-avatar creature leading the fray.
Therefore assuming that spirits have a better chance because of the dragon deck leaks is simply baseless.

Secondly, dragons did not actually need a "good" commander. They have plenty already, spread though tri-color combinations, 2 colors that spread beyond the color for which dragons are iconic, even a 5c one. It's the complete opposite of what cats have had thus far.

If you think that the 4 decks will be Spirits&humans, avatars, dragons and cats, then which one is the "surprising" one? seeing as three of them are not iconic enough to be expected when you don't have the leak. Remember the definition was iconic tribes, not popular ones.

Not to mention. printing 12 new legendaries that all fall under a pattern of 4 tribes would be a waste of potential, a great restriction on the decks' versatility, and a bad move all in all.

I'm almost 100% certain that jace's name will be "Jace, Planar Castaway". It fits in the card, and makes sense thematically, and with how his clothes are all torn apart.

  • posted a message on (God)'s Last (Noun) Cycle
    About Kefnet's last X

People have been speculating on it being an extra turn spell in the style of savor the moment. but those effects are only on mythic rarity nowadays, and since this is a rare cycle i think that should be disregarded. Also WotC hasn't printed a blue instant/sorcery tutor in a long time, and thus it won't be that either, unfortunately.

However we have seen so far that the "last x" cycle does for each color an effect within the color's properties that the god didn't do.

Also they seem to be made to assist you when you're losing the game, as, well... a last resort.

Therefore my guesses are for the cards to be styled after:

    For Kefnet: Devastation Tide

For Hazoret: 6 damage to creature or face, like OP suggests seems fair, but it might be less, or directed only at creatures. Otherwise it might be too much of a threat to the new Bolas, and WotC would want him to see play.

For Rhonas: Since these seem to be fit for recovering in a game, and not for winning one, i would suppose this would create a little army of tokens. On the other hand, those tokens could potentially make the card too powerful should they be 4/4s' as Rhonas' style would suggest. Alternatively, and more hopefully, it will draw a fixed number of cards, and regardless of how many creatures you control.

To me it seems to say

"Create two copies of Jace, Planar Castaway, except they're not legendary."
Going based on the frame space missing.
Secondly, creating copies of himself was the technique he used to defeat vraska in Ravnica, in the Jace Vs Vraska Duel deck story article, so it could be likely!

Where are you from? 240 eu is extremely high. In Germany you can get them for 214 eu + 6eu shipping.

even with a price of 220eu, the loss margins are still greater than the profit margins. Less so, but my point still stands.

(And I'm apparently not from Germany ;))

    Hey. EDH player here too!

So the same question was going through my mind a couple of days ago, and i decided to run statistical analysis on the matter.

Using an online simulator (mtgen.net) i opened around 20 boxes, 24 packs each, and noted each time all cards whose value was over 01.00 euro. Commons, Uncommons, Foils, and the rares, going by MCM prices.

Each time i was trying to beat 240.00eu as that is the current average price (+shipping)

Now, of the 20 boxes i opened, 10 resulted in Profit, 10 resulted in Loss
That gives us a 50 - 50 chance of gaining or losing, But:

The average remaining gain was around 40.00eu, with values min: 04.00 and max: 80.00

The average loss was around -80.00eu, with values from -40.00 to -170.00

So my conclusions are, that while you are AS likely to profit as you are to lose when investing in a booster box, when you lose, you lose harder.

Taking into calculation that 8/15 mythics have value <10.00eu, and that only fetches can give you value from rares, most boxes had such a loss, where if you had just ordered what you got as singles, you could have bought the best thing you opened, twice.

There even was a box with a Goyf, Liliana, and Foil Inquisition that didn't make a profit.

The box with the lowest value had 5 mythics in it, the most expensive of which was 1x Linvala.

So as a player who just wants a few of the cards for EDH, I'd advise you to stay away. I know I'll just stick to singles

To me it looks like it could be a blurred version of Solemn Simulacrum. I know that card has nothing to do with EMN, but the picture could just be a placeholder, with nothing to do with the actual card....
