I know how you feel wtwlf. I recently cut my cube down from 450 to 360 because I usually am running 4-5 people tops. It was "easy" to find the cuts to make. However, actually going forward with it was harder. The cuts and change lasted for 3 game days but after that time, I missed the cards that I had cut. So now I am back up to 450.
I will be interested in how you feel about the cuts and what you decide to cut too.
it definitely felt like getting rid of family when I made the cuts, but, I made the hard choices and went from a 450 Powered cube to a 360 powered cube.
Before anything else know that my play group plays free for all multiplayer so some cube staples were not in my 450 cube. No single target, land destruction, or hand disruption. No red haste creatures that die at the end of the turn they come into play.
Here is my cubetutor cube list with all of the cuts: http://cubetutor.com/viewcube/3787. This is by no means permanent. I might go back, or if I keep this new size and list, I might cut cards to put back others.
The choices I have to still make, or made were:
Getting rid of all of the disenchantment spells because I had replacements in Orings, and unexpectedly absent
Do I remove functional reprints of cards to free up space for more unique effects? Or do I keep the functional reprints to make sure the cube runs more smoothly?
How many aggro cards do I need now that I have dropped down in size?
Let me know what you think and your opinions on cards I should definitely fit back in, or that I should cut.
Thank you all for your input and your suggestions. After work I plan on pretending like I never had a cube and starting fresh in my goal to create a 360 cube. Then looking at what I had to cut and seeing if I will indeed miss any of the cards that have been removed.
My apprehension stems from losing pet cards like kiki-jiki which are fun to play with but have no place in a smaller cube.
After I have a chance to futz around tonight I will post my cubetutor cube list.
Ouch, those cuts that you list have me re-assessing my decision. Especially the archetypes I will be losing. The initial size cut I made from 720 to 450 felt hard the first time I did it. However, I do not miss any of the cards I cut nor do my friends.
Every Sunday 3 other friends and I get together and play cube. My cube started out as a 720 unpowered cube, but soon enough it became apparent that this number was too unwieldy. As of today the cube is 450 powered. I feel that between the four of us this number is still too much. However, my problem is that I feel like 450 is the smallest I can have without loosing cards that I have fun playing with, or watching others play with.
Please help me either reach my goal of 360 powered or tell me to stop worrying and love my 450 cube.
My cube list will not be posted because if I do pair down I want to do so by going over each card one by one reality tv contest style.
I get everyones feelings on this card. However, this is green, a color where ramping is easy and its a creature too.
I think its worth a test. It might surprise all of you, or fail me
@UltraLunch I am glad I could inspire you and hope your deck works out. Maybe try a BW lifegain sanguine bond deck?
As for all of your input. I have tried the deck out last night and found what you all are saying to be true. There are too few creatures, though I went 5 and 1 out of 6 games. Each game I won was usually off of jarad sacing a creature to ping my opponent.
I think I will cut the drown in filths and add more creatures. I will post the info and updated deck list here after I test the deck out some more.
I played with it and it was either too fragile or just never came together. The second game I played though used a better version of this kind of deck. It was Bant and the combo I saw was to use silence and the Arcanist to never allow your opponent to play a spell again. Uses Prophet to allow for sliding in arcanist and to allow for free untaps. Plays as a control deck.
The deck has many different ways it can win. My favorite and the one that makes it a combo deck is after utilizing all of the digging spells to fill your graveyard with creatures, have out or cast a sanguine bond and then cast a crypt incursion for the win.
The beauty of this deck is that it is so synergistic. Whip of Erebos gives all of your creatures life link which deals damage to your opponent if you have a sanguine bond out. The spells that fill your graveyard with creatures also help you dig deeper into your deck. The land you will potentially have in your graveyard can be used by the deathrite shamans and the extra spells can be extra damage to your opponent too.
What do you think? any better ideas? Lets make this a great synergistic deck.
What do you all think about bane of the living? Definitely expensive, but it can be abused by having the sweet power toughness of 2/2. It's searchable by imperial recruiter and it can be recurred by reveillark
@pillar15 thanks for the feedback. I will definitely look into setting up the RSS feed.
This past Sunday my playgroup and I did not meet up. However this Sunday we will. So expect a new episode, episodes that work because of a change in host, and an RSS feed. If I have the time even some intro music.
Though it is early, I have been working on a zombie cube that I hope to play with. The games would be 2 headed giant with one team being humans and the other zombies. This is all to celebrate Halloween.
@calibretto thank you for the information and link. I know the 2nd episode is rough since it is only the second recording. What were your thoughts? As to the files working, I looked into mtgcast and the submission process contains a lot of steps. I think the issue might be the file format I am using; which is m4a. I am going to reupload the previous podcast episodes as mp3s and see if that helps. If not I will start using mtgcast.
It is probably the website I am using to host the podcasts. I am using podbean. Any websites that you recommend that can host podcasts for free? Thanks

4x Pyxis of Pandemonium
2CMC
4x Prophetic Prism
3CMC
4x Darksteel Ingot
4x Guardians of Meletis

4x Trading Post

4x Hellkite tyrant
Spells:
4x Anger of the Gods
Land:
16x Mountains
4x Encroaching Wastes
4x Mutavault
The card that made me think this was a possible deck is Hammer of Purphoros. The card makes 3/3 Artifact creatures.
You can pump out artifact creatures with lands that you do not need later in the game.
Just now I realized using Pyxis of Pandemonium might enable a "faster" grind out combo win. It also adds to the artifact count.
Tell me what you think and give me suggestions.
