Ever since the ‘Curse’ thing, it never seemed quite the same.
I mean, didn’t look the same, but it wasn’t just that.
Anyway, including my old account on the old site, I’ve been on here for years. It’s been great (especially earlier).
Will miss it.
edit: Also offers some nice sideboard options.
Modern won’t want it; likewise, most other formats.
Specific archetypes (also builds) matter. Like, a lot. Hell, specific cards matter too.
The notion that “aggro” should always be a safe bet vs “control” (for instance) is absolutely ludicrous.
That is “the state of Modern”, like it or not (fwiw, I don’t). At least UW Control manages to go against the grain, I guess, and even snag the odd W. Even so.
I know, intention looks like a pretty damn nebulous concept. But it’s right there, at the core of it all, determining the ‘percentage’ anyway.
What is a given player hoping to achieve, or get out of playing their deck. That’s it, really. What kind of EDH experience do they enjoy.
On the face of it, and reading around a bit, I can definitely see the argument for giving some blue thing(s) the banhammer.
Red: suboptimal Phoenix or suboptimal Prison
Black: uh ... 8-Rack or MBD ,,, ?
Blue: Taking Turns or possibly Merfolk
Green: Tron
White: Martyr Proc, D&T or Pillowfort maybe ...
Perhaps if there was some kind of non-Standard cycle of sets that was brought out, with all cards available to Modern, that might work. Extremely unlikely to ever happen, but it would be nice.
Then again, all they need to do is print good stuff in Standard. There is plenty already (some of it format-warping, in fact), but notably not certain things (e.g. Counterspell), is all.
