One thing that can be useful is a blue stealy deck is a couple of lands that produce mana of any color. I run a set of shimmering grotto in mine. It doesnt come up often (its usually enough to just take their stuff) but sometimes its nice to be able to activate the abilities of the things you steal.
I'd not thought of that! Not a bad idea at all!
Manarocks are in. Sol Ring is a bit of a sore point in my group, so I'll be going with a few others. Manarocks for any colour aren't very efficient unfortunately.
What would be a good number do you think?
I'm testing 6.
Empress Galina is freakin awesome, but the legend part makes it a bit conditional. I wanted to stay away from too many conditional cards to keep the deck as flexible as possible, that said, Galina is probably a good exception here given a large FFA.
This is why I've stayed away from cards like Steal Artifact or Steal Enchantment.
Is this a conversion from an EDH deck by any chance? There appear to be a number of singletons - which may be fun, but not necessarily consistent.
FYI only, this appears to have 62 cards. Also, the mana curve looks a little high - above 4 - and with no ramp.
Bribery is also a card, but unfortunately a very expensive card. Good for pulling Eldrazi, though. Phyrexian Metamorph might be worth considering over Clone.
CHeers.
You know what? It's actually not a former EDH deck.
Just happens to be what I got all chucked together.;)
You're dead right too, I really should work in some mana-rocks etc. to hit business a little earlier, that said, I find the stuff I wanna steal tends to take a while to come out.
I don't own a Bribery or Phyrexian Metamorph, but would love to. Being money cards I'll play the deck out and see how badly I want (no no, I mean need) them in there. Ha ha.
The Disk's I do own, so maybe I'll chuck a couple in. Being a deck that can copy the boards' biggest threat I should be able to recover fairly quickly.
Future Sight is another I'd not thought of. I'm gonna get one. Thanks for the headsup!
5 cards that are almost a must have in a deck like this: reins of power (mentioned already but it cant be understated how awesome it is), bribery (also previously mentioned but it is just stoopid good), vedalken shackles, blatant thievery, desertion. Shackes is the only one that I would argue needs to be a 4 of. Bribery could easily be but you can get away with less. The others vary depending on the deck and the meta, however, thievery is almost certainly a 1 of.
Lol, and I just looked and youre already running 1 thievery:p
Ta.
I did think of some of those for sure.
Shackles & Bribery are a bit dear for me, but I see how good they are. Reins of Power is cool if I have no creatures at all for sure, I'll grab one of those for the deck. I like Cultural exchange still, as I get to mess with two other players, not just exchange what I have.
Desertion is one I have, but decided not to get in as I find I tend to be tapped out most of the time once I hit 4-6 mana. Ertai, Wizard Adept may get cut for this reason also.
Deep-Sea Kraken is a great card for this deck, and I've already had it in and out of the deck a few times.... Ugh. Can't decide! Echo Mage looks great!
Quicksilver Elemental and Chromeshell Crab were both in the deck previously, but I found the QE to be hit and miss (my group plays a lot of sweeps, so it's ability is quite often a non-ability) and the Chromeshell is quite often the victim of a volcanix fallout/pyroclasm once I play a morphed creature.
CHeers everyone.
Another card I've been pondering is Back from the Brink. It would give me more value for my creatures, and give me game against Discard-decks potentially.
I may end up chucking my Teferi in here aswell as some mana-rocks.
A few Thran Dynamo or Worn Powerstone looks like a certainty.
Time to drop some of the fluff and get this list a bit tighter!
Okay, so a few of the choices explained.
The group I play with have some pretty nasty decks running things like Eldrazi and loads of sweeps, but surprisingly not that much targeted removal. Definitely a creature heavy environment, but a few enchantment based lock-decks too, hence the Aura Thief in there.
We routinely have creatures being cheated into play via stuff like Tinker, so I thought I'd make use of the fact that there will be some great stuff to steal or copy. And it's a fun deck!
I've decided to go with lots of singletons just simply cos that's what I've got, and also because I dig having a bit of variety. Having lots of cards that can perform a similar function also gives the deck great redundancy.
But;
So far it does have a few flaws.
There is almost no way to get to the lategame against extort decks if they're able to prevent you attacking them, and the general reliance of stealing answers to gain life isn't ideal. That said, being able to routinely steal/copy the biggest threat on the table and SMASH THAT EXTORTING BASTARD with it does work well too. Dense Foliage-type cards do create problems, but luckily a lot of the cards like Clone don't actually target. All the same, a lack of answers to Enchantments and Artifacts, outside of stealing them, is a problem too.
So what could I change to make the deck more robust, without taking away the fun element of the deck?
Remote Farm is another option for land.
I don't think Trinisphere matters too much in MP, as MP decks seldom run only sub-3cmc cards and super low land counts like Legacy/Vintage etc.
Angels definitely have some good things goin, namely Vigilance and Lifelink.
I would pop in some Luminarch Ascension for sure, and some Stoneforge Mystic to find your equip. Batterskull is a fave of mine too.
Luminarch Ascension and all the lifelink stuff you have available in white also lends you to get in some Expedition Map and Glacial Chasm potentially.
I'd not thought of that! Not a bad idea at all!

EDIT: Altar of Dementia looks great!

and Island's.

1 Vesuvan Doppelganger, 1 Vesuvan Shapeshifter
1 Roil Elemental, 1 Body Double
1 Enclave Cryptologist, 1 Arcanis the Omnipotent
1 Ertai, Wizard Adept

Are you looking to keep the deck mono-W?
