Hello guys, im new at the post and at the Jund deck, but im loving to play with it!
In my Field im facing a lot of aggro decks, we have at least 3 merfolks, 2 Affinity, 2 Tron, 1 Eldrazi and 1 BW tokens.
Any good tips for the SB for the NB here !?
;(
Ok, so after draining my bank account and trading away some legacy staples (RIP my dream of playing deathblade some day) I have aquired 4 goyfs. And since raging ravine is actually kinda expensive and I have pretty much every card I need for Junk, I'm gonna start off with this version of B/G before trying out the red side of the equation. However, first I have a couple of questions (mostly about my sideboard).
Ok, first off, I have no idea if that land base is going to work. I feel like I should have 1 more green source maybe but I'm really not sure what I would cut for it, and what green source I should actually add. The second issue I'm not sure how to approach is the sideboard. Currently, of the 10-12 people who are there every week, we have 2 B/Gx players (1 Jund, 1 Junk) 3 B/W Token players, Fish, Zoo, 2 Affinity players, Infect, Grishoalbrand, and 2 Eldrazi players (as well as an elves deck, a mardu deck, and other random T3 decks that pop up from time to time). Right now the only cards I'm pretty sure I want in the SB is Damnation, EE, the 3 Fulminators and the Stony Silence, any thing else I'm still partial too.
P.S. I apologize for not formatting that decklist, I tried but MTGSalvation refused to show anything.
Gz on the new deck you have. I would say G/B/x deck is a good investment if you wanna play and stay in Modern although our deck is sitting pretty bad right now. I just hope the format won't die. Lol.
Imo, even the lost of Twin, Decays didn't lost any value. It's not like we run 4 just because of twin. Decays can hit creatures/permanents from all over the field from Delver to Burn, Hell yeah even against Eldrazi. Maybe except for a few like Tron and Living End. Maybe it depends on the meta. But with these Eldrazi thing that's running around, cutting 1 is prolly a good idea. Specially that there are different versions that goes bigger.
How many Abrupt Decays you guys are you running? I'm still running 4 and I'm thinking of cutting 1 for a Doom Blade. I'm not sure about it coz I'm thinking red decks will be running Blood Moons to counter the Eldrazi's lands. What do you think guys? Maybe depending on the meta?
I think we have the tools to kills their creatures from Mimics to Smashers. We have Abrupt Decays and Paths. We even have access to Doom blades. The problem I see is that they're just too fast and Reality Smashers. Smashers always get us 2 for 1.
Isn't it better to just nuke the board by T4 while praying they don't have Warping Wail rather than casting an Phyrexian Obliterator and fighting it the next turn?
You are absolutely correct that it is really slow. You are not paying 4 mana for a 2/2, you are playing a GB land that turns into a 2/2 when you have absolutely nothing better to do. This is a deck that wants 1BB or Kitchen Finks's mana cost on turn 3 and 1WBG on turn 4. It's easy to envision a scenario where you get color-screwed by Village, but it's harder to envision a scenario where you would have won if you had a 3/3 trample instead of a 2/2 deathtouch.
I agree with this one. I like Treetop coz of being aggressive and it can close games faster but rn, I'm mainly using Hissing Quagmires for mana fixing and it's working really great.
As for the Abzan Charm, I like it but I don't have that much space rn coz of these aggro decks running around forcing me to run 2 Kitchen Finks main.
thanks man, they are proxied up, will try practice tomorrow
Np. Where are you from btw?

Btw guys. What do you think of Sea Gate Wreckage? I want to cut my 2 Ghost Quarters for 2 of that. Seems pretty good in grindy matchups especially in the mirror.
I don't really know what to take out if you'll put, maybe, 2 Fulminator Mage mb or if you even want to put 4. Even if you do, we still have a pretty bad mu against Tron/Eldrazi anyway you slice it. I would just pray that they won't have a turn 3 Karn or something like that and hope for the best on g2. And besides, you are running 2 Ghost Quarters already or you could run some Surgical Extractions sb. Blood Baron of Vizkopa isn't that bad compared to Kalitas. They do nothing when they hit the board but you can squeeze some juice on Kalitas even after wiping the board.
Back and forth. I am good at Aggro. I feel with zoo and merfolk, I can make calls and change without help. since I am still learning this. I bring my list for yall to pick. My meta is 4-5 tron. 3x control, 2 infect 5-6 aggro (boagles, burn included) 2x affinity and a oddball or 2(including jund occasionally). This is my list. Id love to add another Finks but I feel that is the aggro side of me. here is my list, I am open to almost all suggestions. My 1x fulminator main is a meta call and i guess so with the heavy removal.
About your sb. Is there a particular reason why you are running Kataki on top of Stony Silence and Fracturing Gust/creeping corrosion against Affinity? Imo, there's no need to run Gust when you have Damnation for the sweeper. Damnation hits every creature, just abrupt the plating or something. How's Pulse of Murasa going with you? I would suggest mb fulminators and kalitas. Remove Tasigur and Bloodbaron. Kalitas is pretty good against aggro.
I was expecting an aggro meta the night before hence the Kitchen Finks and Choke.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: I'm not really sure yet of this guy but he's pretty good, he's a removal rod most of the time. I find him very good against aggro mu. When he works, he works really great. Hissing Quagmire: This one is more of personal preference imo. I know the stats/cost is pretty lame but I needed the fixing. Won me the game against Tron actually, when my opponent "misplayed."
Top 8 decks:
2 Naya Burn Aggro
2 U/W Control
1 Jund
1 Junk
1 Scapeshift
1 I forgot the other one.
Choke will be very good against Fishes. Zealous Persecution is good against Tokens and Affinity or try Golgari Charm. Stony Silence is good with Affinity and Tron, along with Fulminator Mages. Board wipes such as Engineered Explosives, Languish and Damnation is decent against aggros aswell.
Gz on the new deck you have. I would say G/B/x deck is a good investment if you wanna play and stay in Modern although our deck is sitting pretty bad right now. I just hope the format won't die. Lol.
As for the sb options. Based on your meta, you have a split between midrange and aggro. I think Damnation and Engineered Explosives is fine. I would up my Abrupt Decays though. I'm not sure if you still need Fracturing Gust when you have EE and Damnation already. I'd suggest running Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet against the aggros, he's very good at dealing with them. You could try Faerie Macabre, Nihil Spellbomb, Darkblast, for your other mu's.

I really want to try a single copy of Painful Truths. We'll see.
What are your thoughts on your post banning sb?
I, too, like Path to Exile but it's downside is really bad. Now, I'm torn on what removal on my flex spot for removals. I'm running...
4x Abrupt Decay
3x Path to Exile
1x Maelstrom Pulse
1x Flex spot.
I'm thinking Abzan Charm, Dismember, Slaughter Pact for that spot. Need a little help here.
