I'm supporting a little artifact package and it's going well so far. The archetype is mainly UW, and then you can splash red or black for some off-color removals if you need.
Moreover, part of the cube design process is constantly trying to balance things. I highly doubt any of us are actually completely satisfied with the balance in our cubes; that's something we can talk about. Further, unless I've missed a lot of discusison, last time I checked, there's not a consensus here about what "power level" actually means; that's something we can talk about. Moreover, I don't think we actually know even exactly what archetypes are the most powerful; for instance, there was some discussion recently about whether ramp was even good enough right now to include. Other topics include things like combat tricks (which I push harder than most people here), removal density (which was a big topic a while ago that I don't think ever got fully fleshed out), properly supporting tempo vs. aggro, whether control decks have a really hard time right now, etc. There's lots of stuff to talk about on a pure "power level basis" as well lots to talk about regarding pauper cube in general, and lots to talk about with regards to designing other archetypes / themes. Pauper cube is nowhere near solved.
They fill completely opposite roles don't they? One lends itself to a defensive or heavy ramp role the other is meant to be an attacker and put pressure on the opponent at the top of the curve. Trample vs Reach tells the whole story here.
Oh, I kind of kept cutting green high drops for the "big fattie that gets killed or ignored too easily" argument, so I see them like very similar creatures. But you are probably right. I'm currently only running Nessian Asp and Krosan Tusker as my green fatties, so I could make room for the rhino
I'm not fond of Opaline Bracers, would cut them entirely. Also I would cut: Glint Hawk Idol, Spread the sickness and fuel for the cause (too slow) and up the count of every other card (they all seem great). Maybe you could consider Disciple of the Vault, helps add up the damage with the golem tokens and if you happen to draw an atog it's brutal.
I couldn't agree more with this.

I would never cut it. It is a huuuuuge trump. Sure it costs 6, but it's almost impossible to attack through it on the ground, and nearly unkillable.
