In a removal-heavy meta, should I just forego the druid package?
No. Druid package is what makes the deck tick imho.
Just picked up the deck yesterday and played a few games on MTGO.
Played Grixis Shadow twice and got smashed both times (kolaghan's command is no joke), was wondering the same... whether to just ditch most the combo?
Maybe add a couple of Spellskites in the SB?
What's the usual plan against this type of deck?
Samut, Voice of Dissent when I've cast it the game ends quickly either way. Rhonas the Indomitable has been good and should maybe be 2x. Fights well with Domri Rade and is easily switched on in this deck. Harsh Mentor is so good when he's good and so bad when he's bad (if you know what I mean). Should probably be a Scavenging Ooze.
I like those tweaks mongoose! It looks like you have a lot better blood moon insurance than I do with the second basic and some game ending red dragons.
Lately on MTGO I've been facing an absurd amount of Blood Moon and Fatal Push and so I decided to move Elspeth, Knight-Errant to the board, remove a Ghor-Clan Rampager and put in some dragons. Probably not optimal but it is fun to switch it up and also with this build I seem to still lose to match ups that I already lost to (Eldrazi I'm looking at you).
So west and Mongooose, You guys never needed the 22nd land with 5 dorks?
With the build of tribal zoo where you max drop is 4cmc I haven't had an issue with 21 lands and the 5 dorks. But I could see adding a 22 land if you wanted to stretch out for a couple of 5 drops. Recently I have had a game or 2 where I've been stranded with a dragon in my hand... Thing is I don't know what I'd cut. Probably a mana dork but then what's the point right..
Hey guys,
Just wanted to share my list. The base is from what w7west has been running for sometime now.
Just constant tweaking and this is where i'm at. It's fun to play and I've been doing quite well in the friendly mtgo leagues.
Have fun and gg
Looks pretty sweet lugger, shout out to Lotus cobra I love that card!
Guys I finally uploaded some videos about my thoughts on Tribal zoo after playing it with moderate success for the past 4 or 5 months. In case you are bored and have some interest in checking them out here is the playlist:
I am going to keep making these since I can pretty much talk for days about this deck as you will soon find out lol.
Take it easy bros
Awesome man, will check out yor vids now. I've been playing Tribal Zoo for 3 months with a few (5-0 wins in Frienedly Modern Leagues) and my list was inspired from yours
DONT GET RID OF GRAVE HATE.
Dredge aint dead at all. It just doesnt beat gravehate anymore and loses to itself more often. Cages have all gotten alot better.
I agree don't get rid of the grave hate! Just had a couple rounds on MTGO and out of 5 games ran into 3 which involved graveyard shenanigans
I'm not changing anything right away, I am just going to see how things play out:
3 Grafdigger's cage - Because abzan coco is incredible deck and graveyard shenanigans still happen
3 Stony silence - Gotta hate out affinity and tron.
3 Leyline of sanctity - Hate for burn and any deck with good black cards like thoughtseize/lotv
2 thalia gaurdian of thraben - Just a power house hate card when it's relevant
2 negate - combo/tron/burn, we hate you all!
1 worship - random hoser
Thanks for explaing your tech. I like seeing other ideas because having 5 colours gives endless possibilities to how we can sideboard. I just switched up my sideboard today and now running this
Zealous Persecution used to be Fiery Justice. Felt better, mainly against Lingering Souls or tokens of some sort that make it tough to attack into. Also good against Affinity. Wheel of Sun and Moon used to be Rest in Peace This felt like an upgrade but undecided. Definitely worse drawing it in the late game though and I did lose to a fringe graveyard based deck today because there was no exile effect.
Anyway still pondering if I should be a bit more targeted with the SB. Perhaps focus on 3 archetypes instead of trying to catch all here and there..
With the banning of golgari grave-troll and gitaxian probe will any of you be altering your sideboard plan? Going lighter on Graveyard hate or removing it altogether?
Tribal Zoo players in particular, if we see an uptick in Jund + Tron + Scapeshift in the meta, how's your sideboard looking?
I myself am looking at adding Lingering Souls to the SB. Maybe even main deck a couple.
Seeing as we're talking about Brave the Elements I have another question.
Lets say my opponent attacks with a Green 4/4 creature. No trample.
I block with a 1/1 and 3/1.
Opponent has to assign order in which creatures will be deal damage.
He assigns the 3/1 first then the 1/1.
I then use BtE on the 3/1 giving pro green.
Will the damage all be absorbed by the 3/1, keeping the 1/1 alive?
If the Green 4/4 did have trample would this change?
Selesnya that is very light on the tokens which is why I've not prioritized any sort of populate mechanic. The main aim is to bash in with Unflinching Courage on hopefully a Fabled Hero or any other 2/3 drop. I'm utilising Giant Growth because I find it really versatile. Pumping to save my Loxodon Smiter from Mizzium Mortars or boosting my unblocked Fabled Hero for a win. I've run into many board stall situations where Brave the Elements works wonders, however I'm still in two minds about Brave the Elements.
My area is playing a lot of aggro at the moment. Last week FNM (4/10/2013) I played 4 rounds, 3 were GR Aggro and 1 Mono Red Aggro. I've decided to gear the deck up for mainly aggro matches and sideboard hard against the control decks, mainly UW. This is why I'm running 4 Unflinching Courage main deck.
It would be great to get feedback on the preferences of Giant GrowthGod's WillingBrave the Elements.
Also some opinions of the sideboarding. Am I taking out the right stuff? Perhaps I am undervaluing the Wurms?
Supreme Verdict will still kill my creatures even if I respond with BtE pro blue.
I take it it is because of the 'All' keyboard which doesn't count as targeting?
So I guess the actual question is, does a spell which says: "deals damage to 'each' creature" able to damage creatures with protection from that colour?

He's been good for me in this build on MTGO (just practice, haven't played any leagues).
Domri Rade fighting with Rhonas the Indomitable and Narnam Renegade has been really effective.

Just some thoughts out loud.
Wild Nacatl out for Narnam Renegade because I've found Narnam Renegade to be better against Eldrazi. It also works nicely with Domri Rade's fight ability.
Fatal push has been great.
Samut, Voice of Dissent when I've cast it the game ends quickly either way.
Rhonas the Indomitable has been good and should maybe be 2x. Fights well with Domri Rade and is easily switched on in this deck.

I think Knight of the Reliquary and Renegade Rallier should workout well together.
Let us know how it turns out.

Questions:
Cards
I'm not sure whether to run the 2 Brave the Elements and 2 Giant Growth or perhaps run 4 Giant Growth/Brave the Elements? There is God's Willing to consider too. For flexibility God's Willings > Brave the Elements but I've won a good amount of games by just using Brave the Elements and attacking.
Sideboarding
I've tried to think of the most possible matchups I might run into tomorrow.
1 Control
In:
2 Advent of the Wurm
2 Trostrani, Selesnya's Voice
2 Rootborn Defenses
2 Archangel of Thune
2 Sundering Growth(If seen Ratchet Bomb then)
Out:
4 Unflinching Courage
2 Brave the Elements
2 Giant Growth
2 Selesnya Charm
2 Mirror
In:
2 Glare of Heresy(Kill smiter and lions and voices)
3 Hunt the Hunter(to kill stuff)
Out:
2 Advent of the Wurm
3 Selesnya Charm
3 Aggro
In:
2 Archangel of Thune
Out:
2 Advent of the Wurm
It would be great to get feedback on the preferences of Giant Growth God's Willing Brave the Elements.

Thanks a lot.
Supreme Verdict will still kill my creatures even if I respond with BtE pro blue.

I understand now. It's not the targeting part of the protection which protects it but the prevention of the damage from that colour.
If my opponent casts an Overloaded Mizzium Mortars and I respond with Brave the Elements (naming protection from red), will my creatures be protected?
Same question with Anger of the Gods.
So I guess the actual question is, does a spell which says: "deals damage to 'each' creature" able to damage creatures with protection from that colour?
