I didn't say it was certain. However the description matches. A female merfolk in shell-like armor with a spear. Given the dire-ness of the situation I could understand him only seeing it as a spear if it was indeed Dekella. However my point was that that is certainly Kiora in that art.
That is likely NOT Kiora and just our new merfolk Jori En IMO.
Considering that is DEFINITELY Thassa's Bident on her back I'd say that is definitely Kiora in that picture. I think it's more likely that, as I said before, Jori En is a pseudonym. Kiora is Jori En.
This just in, Gideon confirmed for the next Avengers movie.
Actually on-topic, never before have I been so sad for a fictional tree. Also, Ashaya's in BFZ art with Nissa riding her, there's a good chance she'll be back in action.
Because another Ultra-White muscle-head is exactly what that movie series needs.
Is it possible that Zendikar cutting Nissa off stems from her decision to save the people instead of the trees? I imagine the worldsoul of the plane caring more about its land than the people living on it. And didn't Zandikar called out Nissa about the heart trees first? Oh but Ashaya wanted Nissa to stay and help the people, so I might be wrong.
Yeah I don't think that's it. The whole point of the last Nissa story was for Nissa to learn that everything was a single entity. The humans are just as much a part of Zendikar as the trees are. Something else is going on.
There's a lot of token producing Walkers. Even Ajani, who's in the same colors, has made tokens.
Ajani and Sorin did it twice. Both of Ajani's were his ults. Elspeth has done it in every iteration. Nahiri did it once. Gideon has never made tokens.
However Ajani is a healer by trade and both of his token abilities had to do with your life. Sorin's are vampires thus it's more on his black side. Nahiri did it for the sake of equipment. It's Elspeth's thing to summon up an army. Gideon doesn't summon tokens because he does the fighting himself. It's entirely out of flavor and it intrudes on the space of other walkers for Gideon to make tokens. They know they are very limited with what each Planeswalker can do. It's why we'll never see Jaya. Because she'd play exactly like Chandra and they can't afford to break into each walkers space just for the sake of putting another character onto a card.
Elspeth was a format-warping allstar most of the time she was legal.
Sarkhan is a bit more casually-directed, tribal and all that. I've never been a fan of him but others surely were.
Ugin is an absolute monster of a card and is easily the most versatile, powerful, and valuable card in the set he appeared in.
What shared lesson could be drawn from these three cards, exactly? (And that kinda begs the question what was really so bad with any of them in the first place?)
Seems you really just don't like Ally creature type.
I'm pretty sure they design and develop the planeswalkers to be powerful in constructed. Sarkhan the Dragonspeaker had nothing to do with Tribal. I mean he became a Dragon but didn't really do anything with it.
As for Allies. It's not that I don't like them. I just don't care. I wasn't around for the original Zendikar so I didn't play with them the first go around. However it's not about whether or not I like Allies. I just think the face character of the set shouldn't have a card relegated to a single, rather parasitic, strategy within the set. I'm hoping they made Gideon generally powerful. Which is saying something because I hate White.
Gods I hope it's not an ally shtick. He's the face of this block they don't need to make him gimicky. I thought Elspeth, Sarkhan Dragonspeaker, and Ugin indicated that they had learned that.
Why do you not include Sorin, Ugin, Liliana,Bolas, Ob, and Nahiri? I'm fairly certain they are current planeswalkers who understand the power that used to entail.
I sad Neo-walkers. All the characters you listed are oldwalkers that survived the mending. Of those that weren't around or weren't walkers prior to the mending Tezzeret has had close dealings with Bolas so would probably have at least some idea of what once was and Bolas once told Jace "We were Gods once." Other than that there is no indication that any of the others know anything about what it was like to be a walker before the mending.
@Onering: It's as if you completely understand what I'm saying.
When a feature looks like a bug, it's time to rethink the feature.
If that makes Gideon Gideon, then I have to say that also makes him an idiot. Basically what Gideon is doing is, he sees a burning building full of people and decides to spend half his time helping some other person with their relationship problems.
The two things are so far off each other on the priority scale that it just shows that Gideon lacks common sense. It is hard, at least for me, to relate to such a character, or take him seriously at all.
I don't disagree. I think he's a fool too. But he doesn't. And no it's not comparable to the burning building and a relationship problem. It's comparable to a burning building and someone standing on the one next to it about to jump off because of a relationship problem. It's about protecting the lives of the innocent no matter what the threat is. if you think he's an idiot then he's not the character you're meant to identify with. There are others out there that will identify with him or at least aspire to be like him. Gideon can be a lot like Goku. He's a goal to be set. "Look at what a paragon of humanity(as seen through a White lense) can be like. Isn't that great?" You don't agree or like it. I don't agree or like it. But someone does. It's the Black in us versus the White in him. We're not meant to identify with him.
It's a feature not a bug. To Gideon they're the same. Innocents are in danger. To Gideon it doesn't matter whether the life is endangered by an incomprehensible force beyond the veil of reality or a measly feuding goblin if an innocent would die Gideon feels like he must be there. It's what makes Gideon Gideon. Like MaRo likes to say; your greatest weakness is your greatest strength pushed to far. Gideon cares about everyone. He wants to protect every life he is able to. The problem is that he will try but he's only human. I, as a person who in the presented situation is UB, can say no I need to be in the place where I can be the best use rather than trying to do everything and dying in the process.
Also: Calling them "Old walker humbling" doesn't mean a whole lot in context. As far as I know the only neo-walkers who know of the concept of "Old walkers" are Tezzeret and Jace and they only likely understand it on a very vague level. So that sort of thing means nothing. Gideon doesn't know that the power of three near-Gods paled in comparison to these creatures. All he knows is that they're threatening innocent lives and he has to protect them.

Funny thing about that. I'm not entirely sure Juri En isn't a pseudonym.
