Screw collectors and the rest of the greedy people who want to keep the monetary value of their cards high. This is a card game; GAME. I shouldn't have to spend several hundred dollars just to have a decent mana base because, much less be competitive just because people are greedy. It would open up whole new avenues not only of making current players happy but expanding the player base. I'm not quite to two years of playing so I know that many new players, particularly those who can't necessarily afford to be dropping anywhere from $20-$50 dollars on a single card are going to be limited to standard which 1: Is a huge money sink because of rotation and 2: Gets very boring very quickly because of the small card pool. If older cards could see more printings in larger quantities it would allow people trying to teach new players to do things like "Oh look at this sweet thing you can do and on a good budget too!" If they really care about getting modern, and even Legacy/Vintage out there to more people they should be wanting to make cards easier to get because these people who are hoarding these staples, it's not like they're putting money into Wizards. In the mean time they could be making cards more accessible for others which would actually reap profit for wizards.
I would like a larger print run and a lower price. If it is a product meant to help players get into modern then what's the point of making it hard to get?
Indeed. A bestowed creature is an Aura. An Aura is a permanent. Bearer destroys all permanents. Surely if he destroyed all creatures the bestowed Auras would fall off as creatures post wrath. But in the case of "Destroy all permanents." Auras are destroyed along with creatures, lands, artifacts, planeswalkers, and other non-aura enchantments all at once so there is never a point in which the Bestowed auras may fall off to become creatures.
What makes Banishing Light less abuse-able than oblivion ring? I understand that o-ring has different text, but can't banishing light be abused too?
O-Ring, similarly to Angel of Serenity and Fiend Hunter had two triggers. ETB and LTB. It's a lot easier to accomplish with one of the creatures but if you Cloudshift a Fiend Hunter with it's exile ability on the stack triggers stack so that one creature is gone forever and another is locked under the Hunter. The new template prevents this. It's the way Banisher Priest was done.
Could you please explain how that is the case? Traditionally, white and green are the colors that destroy enchantments and white and black are the colors that destroy creatures, while red destroys artifacts and lands and merely deals damage to creatures. I can excuse obliterate and decree of annihilation for destroying/exiling creatures, because they also destroy/exile artifacts and lands, but a red spell (both this and worldfire) should not be able to affect enchantments, as such an inability is supposed to be one of red's weaknesses, for the sake of balance.
Destruction is Reds thing. On a plane like Theros where even the enchantments are tangible things Red having the ability to destroy EVERYTHING is just fine. You're talking like this thing is Back to Nature.
I've already got "R/B Skyfall" floating about in my head.
Mogis, Reckoner, various kill spells to control the game. Epiphany Storm and maybe Trading post to pitch fatties like Necropolis Regent, Maybe Carnival Hellsteed; it's not the greatest thing around but it's a solid clock with haste. Nykthos to power out the Bearer. Rescue from the Underworld to wipe the board and bring back the win condition.
It's not going to take down a Pro Tour any time soon but It'll be fun as hell to drop Nyx on someone at an FNM. >:}
How is it out of flavor for Red to go nuclear and wipe out everything? Bearer in and of itself has nothing to do with heaven other than the fact that he holds it up. That does not pigeonhole him into white.
Pharika is a huge disappointment to every variety of BG. She is a total nonbo for Dredge. I don't have any room for a 5/5 beater that isn't always a creature in my Rock Midrange deck, there are just better cards I could be running. Her ability is a letdown for sure. She is far from the strongest of the gods as mentioned earlier. She is easily the weakest. Being a sometimes 3 mana 5/5 that is easily animated doesn't make up for her ability being so underwhelming. Is building a deck around her worth it? I don't think so, her ability doesn't have enough upside. As long as she's in play your opponent will know that for every 2 mana and a dude in your graveyard you can have a snake. As for being graveyard hate I'd rather use the Scooze. 1 less to cast, 1 less to activate, doesn't give your opponent a consolation prize for their dude being removed, easily gets bigger than Pharika for menial investment. What kind of God allows itself to be outclassed by a measly ooze?
She's bad. I'm sad.
Some more: "Deadly poison can be healing medicine in small amounts, and this dichotomy is reflected in the god whose province is such tinctures. Pharika is the keeper of apothecary knowledge, the source of dark magic. She is also the mother of all gorgons, and their snaky bodies resemble hers.
To those who would oppose her, Pharika is a fearsome enemy, but mortals she favors are hard to kill. She bears a potion cup from which she dispenses draughts that simultaneously strengthen her servants and slay her enemies.
Pharika is associated with black and green mana, and her dual nature also governs aging—the stretch of life and the approach of death. Stories say that the secretive god has hidden medicinal knowledge within the natural world. None know whether she did so to reward or to toy with mortals who quest to unearth them."
LOOK AT ALL THAT! Just from the Planeswalker's guide there's so much to work with! And on top of all that her flavor, while not a fail, is very weak when we had all this to work with. Did I mention I am disappoint, son?
if conspiracy doesn't contain anything for modern I'll be quite upset. the release date of this product would make me think that there has to be something for modern in this cause modern season begins at\or around this products release. Since it would seem Dack isn't going to be modern legal, if there are NO fetches in this then I'll just bypass this product altogether. Imo save Commander(and by extension legacy) for Nov releases and a June release for modern.
You're going to be quite upset then since supplemental products are only legacy/vintage legal.
Screw collectors, play the effing game.

Nope. Bestowed creatures are still permanents. They're dead too.
If all your creatures are black Pit Fight doesn't work.
I splash red for Slaughter Games in the board.

Because upkeep comes before draw step?
Yup, this could have been so much better if it were your endstep instead of your upkeep. Would that have been so bad?
...
How amazingly disappointing.
I'm disappointed.
