Wouldn't mind upgrading my shocks to these, especially my RTR ones. I'd love a few of those fetches, but I'd prefer to give my kidneys to someone who needs them, not Wizards.

Hes rare because green having haste is supposed to be a rare thing. But that restriction kills him for me. We were finallygoing to get a good mana dork to go with rattleclaw but no.He'll do fine, he'll get played, but he could have been so much better without that restriction. I guess that sums up the set so far. It could have been better without changing much

Every spoiler day this week has just been making me disappointed. Weak, unexciting rares that may as well have been uncommon and just an overall boring feel. Not today. Everything about the winnower makes me feel all giddy. The body for the cost, the ability, the freaking ob nixilis "watch the world burn" flavor text, the prospect of locking out late game rhinos or ulamogs or gideons. This is what a mythic should be all about.

All we need is a guy that gives Haste. Then this guy will go from bonkers to straight up honky tonk badonkadonk

I recall back when the temples were spoiled back in Theros that someone made a joke about a temple of disappointment. Guess Wizards liked that joke so much they decided to actually make it.

Really a shame they wasted great art on this. Glad it at least ended up on a card. You can tell a card's bad when the best thing you can say about it is that it stopped the art from not being used

  • posted a message on Kiora and Ob PW
What Ob really reminds me of are kolaghan's command and lili of the veil. What makes those cards powerful, at least to me as a jund player, is that they are simple, versatile abilities that give you choice of when you use them. He can be a phyrexian arena you can switch off, he can be a repeatable removable machine, but most often he can be both, just as LotV is both a hand and board thinner. Now I don't think he's modern playable like the other cards I mentioned, unless Esper or Cruel Control ever becomes an actual thing, but he almost definitely will find a home in standard, speaking as someone who doesn't pay real attention to that format.

Maybe the entire kit comes in the deck box, sort of like with Dragon's Maze? I'd honestly prefer another of those to a fold-up one, which is what we'll probably get otherwise as I don't think any other kind could fit

Excited about the full art duals. I'm probably never going to use them as I'm not big into standard, but I'll be damned if I don't get at least one of each. They're definitely what will make me preorder my box

  • posted a message on Rattleclaw Mystic as the best mana accelerant in the BFZ world?
    Quote from Benjaz »
My opinion is that all the non elvish mystic mana acelarants in standard are terrible... just hopping some 2 mana Rampant Growth variant gets printed in BFZ and let there be ramp again!

2 cmc mana acelarant creatures are only playable as long as there is no 2 cmc non creature ramp spell in the format, even the caryatid only started to see real play after farseek was gone.

Considering Caryatid came in when farseek left, that's very true.

In all seriousness, with wotc not willing to have more 1 cmc mana dorks in standard Rattleclaw may be the best we've got, but it won't be $5 material until Temur hopefully becomes a thing. Or giant Eldrazi ramp, whichever comes first.

It looks like 236 to me. All it tells us, assuming it's real, is that there are around 20 nonbasic lands, accounting for 20 basics.

The bottom border looks legit, although I can't make out the artist's name

  • posted a message on Announcing: Tempest Remastered
As someone who couldn't play Vintage Masters due to my job ending around that time, this is going to be the reason I finally pick up MTGO. Plus, I've got a few predictions:
Wasteland will be a Mythic. I'm really hoping for rare (Uncommon is way out) but knowing Wizards, I wouldn't be too surprised. Although they have pleasantly surprised me before (This announcement for example).
It will also have the promo art. Just my personal preference, but they didn't rule out already existing promo arts, so I can believe.
Lotus Petal as a rare. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an uncommon, but it makes more sense as a rare to me for drafting (Can't let those turn 1 or 2 Sliver Queens happen)

Pod was banned? Really? I don't think they've completely killed an archetype in Modern that way before. That is brutal.

Cruise getting banned was probably inevitable but what was DTT hurting?
They killed Eggs and Jund with the ban of 1 card.

Jund was hit with the Punishing Fire ban. Then it came back. Then it was hit with the Bloodbraid Elf ban. Then it came back. Then it was it with the Deathrite Shaman ban. Then it came back. The only reason it is dead now is that Wizards made Junk better.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "If you think Jund is dead, just a wait a minute."

But as for Pod, I didn't see it coming. I was never planning on building the deck, but I'm speechless. I should be happy that without Cruise my beloved Twin will be back in business, but at what cost?

  • posted a message on DTK - Allied Guilds
If I recall correctly, Maro said something in his article about wanting the Khans in Fate Reforged to be able to be used as commanders in decks built around both kahns of tarkir and dragons of tarkir factions, so I don't think they'd go to shards. If they are going through with that, then two colors is the only way to go, since with Tasigur for example you can build a golgari or dimir edh by just neglecting the third color. However, I'm thinking it'll be around enemy colors instead of allied colors, just for the sole purpose of an enemy cycle of dragons (Plus it seems more logical to go from wedges to enemies instead of wedges to allies)
