Feb 3, 2014the nobodys posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite card of all time: Vesuvan Doppleganger. When I laid eyes on it as a 13 year old, MtG became the game that I played. Beautiful art, great power at the time, fun to play, and one of the first desirable rares I ever opened out of a pack.Posted in: Announcements

I'm running a BWr Pox list, splashing green for 4 Life from the Loam, and both the Flagstones and Loam are critical for maintaining card/permanent advantage. Molten Vortex has been good in testing. After looking at your list, I'm interested to add 1-2 Crack the Earth for the additional early land destruction.
4 Servant of the Scale
4 Avatar of the Resolute
2 Satyr Grovedancer
1 Sage of Hours
4 Hangarback Walker
2 Den Protector
4 Managorger Hydra
4 Chasm Skulker
4 Hardened Scales
Instants/Sorceries: 8
2 Ranger's Guile
3 Solidarity of Heroes
3 Inspiring Call
I played a version of this in one FNM, and was competitive in all my matches despite going 2-2. I really like Hangarback Walker and Managorger Hydra, and I think both as a 4-of will help a lot. The hydra will get big very quickly, and the trample is huge as this deck can sometimes get stalled by tokens and the like. Walker is more board-wipe/removal protection, to go along with Chasm Skulker and Inspiring Call. I think Solidarity of Heroes should always be run in some number in this deck, as it is often a finisher out of nowhere.
4 Ornithopter
4 Hangarback Walker
4 Arcbound Ravager
1 Spellskite
1 Auriok Salvagers
ENCHANTMENTS: 11
4 Evolutionary Leap
4 Tempered Steel
3 Enduring Renewal
4 Mox Opal
3 Springleaf Drum
4 Genesis Chamber
SPELLS: 6
2 Dispatch
4 Commune with the Gods
LAND: 18
4 Darksteel Citadel
3 Glimmervoid
4 Razorverge Thicket
3 Windswept Heath
2 Temple Garden
1 Forest
1 Plains
The idea is to use several interactions (and Commune with the Gods finds everything except Genesis Chamber):
-Enduring Renewal + Hangarback Walker + Genesis Chamber = infinite 1/1
-Enduring Renewal + Ornithopter + Arcbound Ravager = infinite +1/+1
-Evolutionary Leap + Tempered Steel + Genesis Chamber = a lot of 3/3's
The combos are a little wacky, but there's a solid beatdown to go along with it.
4 Faerie Miscreant
1 Faerie Impostor
4 Oona's Blackguard
4 Oona's Prowler
4 Spellstutter Sprite
4 Scion of Oona

4 Bitterblossom
Instants/Sorceries: 7

3 Ghostly Prison
4 Ardent Plea
1 Thassa, God of the Sea
1 Heliod, God of the Sun
4 Leyline of Sanctity
4 Leyline of Anticipation
4 Starfield of Nyx
3 Restore Balance
1 Idyllic Tutor
2 Supreme Verdict
1 Day's Undoing
In my testing, the deck is doing really well against my CoCo and Mardu control decks. The leylines are great. Starfield of Nyx has been a powerhouse, and I usually swing for lethal or just about the turn it comes into play.
Seeker of the Way also requires an "if" to get better than being a 2/2, and has little late-game impact. Card still sees constructed play, because it's a splashable 2/2 with good upside in the early game. Obviously there needs to be decent equipment printed in standard to make the upside as good as possible for Relic Hunter, but if there is, I believe I would run Relic Hunter over Seeker in a standard aggro deck.
This deck definitely had some gross opening plays, namely turn two Spreading Algae or turn two Smallpox with Flagstones of Trokair out. The Shadows of Doubts I took out almost immediately after some testing, and the Heliod's Pilgrims were too slow for fetching Algaes to be relevant. If I were to take another crack at the Spreading Algae deck, it would utilize 4 Myth Realized and 4 Life From the Loam and Lingering Souls. Some number of Fetid Heath is also a must if you're looking to Smallpox on turn 2 with Flagstones.
I will be cutting a Wasteland for another Seat of the Synod. Wasteland is nice with Tanglewire, as you want to keep the number of permanents they have on board low, but sometimes I do miss a blue source. As for Esperzoa, I'm close to putting in a 3rd over the Spellskite. Along with the synergy you mentioned, you can bounce Opal and Seat of the Synod at no real loss, and if they were tapped from T-Wire or Winter Orb, they get reset. And it's nice to have a decent clock outside of the Planeswalker package.
4 Polluted Delta
2 Underground Sea
1 Tundra
2 Seat of the Synod
1 Island
4 Ancient Tomb
2 City of Traitors
4 Wasteland
4 Dimir Signet
2 Mox Opal
Creatures: (9)
4 Baleful Strix
1 Stoneforge Mystic
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Spellskite
2 Esperzoa
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Winter Orb
1 Scroll Rack
4 Tangle Wire
1 Ensnaring Bridge
4 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1 Batterskull
Instants/Sorceries: (6)
2 Transmute Artifact
4 Force of Will
1 Winter Orb
4 Engineered Plague
4 Leyline of the Void
1 Helm of Obedience
1 Misdirection
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Vindicate
1 The Abyss
1 Crucible of Worlds
Not really sure if the 4 Chalice of the Void main deck is correct, now that Delver isn't so huge. Delver was the deck I struggled with the most, but the 4 chalice is probably the only way I can win vs. burn. I haven't really tested Scroll Rack too much, but I know how often I would have wanted the effect when in a Tangle Wire stalled board. I really like the Winter Orbs to shut down Miracles, so 1 in the main and 1 in the board. Anyone have any SB suggestions or know what the popular decks are right now?
Right, what Venocstorm said about it acting like Resto Angel to reset Finks or dodge removal. But it can also target any permanent on the board, which means if it's vialed in, it can ruin things like Splintertwin or an attack by an infect creature. It can also get rid of a blocker, or a problematic card like Scavenging Ooze or Rest in Peace for a turn so you can combo off.
About cutting cards for Vial: I run 2 Path to Exile main. 26 creatures total. Where Vial hurts the most is running only 1 Gavony Township.
