I picked up Mind Seize yesterday because of nekusar. Looking at his abilities and the forums, wheeling seems to be the popular deck for him. I was wondering if any of you are going to build him in a different way? I have to leave for class right now, but I will be checking in later.
Personally, I was thinking of cards like wild evocation and chaos warp style cards, general chaos.
Since Kiku is primarily creature-hate, the rest of the deck should be light(er) on creature removal, and heavier on threats, or answers for other kinds of permanents. Maybe some kind of midrange slug-fest with undercosted beaters like Abyssal Persecutor?
I like this Idea. I picked up all the cards listed so far in the thread, and I snagged a Erebos the other day, so that's in. In the same vein as Abyssal Persecutor, I added Desecration Demon
any other suggestions for the deck? I found Descent into Madness and that seemed fun.
I was referring more to a "I want him in EDH" desire rather than "flavor accuracy".
anyway, How does Exalted do in the format? I dont have much experience with it but it seems like it could be a fun thing do to. I figure with vigilance he can use the exalted bonus, then with either auras or equipment on the defensive side. Do you think that it stretching the core of the deck too thin?
I love Hundred-Handed One, it is easily my favorite card in all of Theros. I feel that Wizards dropped the ball when they didn't make him legendary. I am going to ask my friends if they would mind me using him as a general, since I really only play with them, as opposed to competitive scenes.
So with that in mind, what kind of deck would you build for Hundred Handed One? I think Voltron stands out as a fun choice. Get some swords and boots and go to town with vigilance and infinite blocking. Maybe an enchantress route? Indestructibility is nice. What do you guys think?
just stopped in to say that I played my first game with the basic package of the title deck, and it has already become my favorite. I ditched my melek deck in favor of this, and im not looking back!
My girlfriend picked Kiku for her commander, and im pretty new to magic so im not aware of some of the good older cards. I started at RTR, for reference. The guy at the card store said big mana is a fun deck type for mono black, but im open to whatever.
proteus staff makes my head hurt! I looks like a strong card like in that creature-less storm deck floating around, but as of right now im not looking for storm wins. I think I might be playing the wrong general for this. A more interactive Tibor and Lumia deck might be more satisfying for me.
Ill probably take some stuff out for more mana rocks, add in propaganda, see what happens. Ral Zarek might come out too, with nothing on the board to protect him.
I took out some of the permanents in favor of spells that had the same effect or were generally stronger. Added caged sun for more mana. Jace the wallet sculptor is a little out of my price range right now, but if i happen to get one ill check it out.
When playing this deck, I feel like I dont really have anything to do early, and it just feels slow in general. If I can survive long enough to actually get some decent mana, I can start blowing people up, but its getting there that is the problem.
also, Im thinking about adding cards like Caged Sun and mana flare. what do you think?
I'm looking for some advice on my Melek, Izzet Paragon deck. As of now, i'm focusing on board wipes, generating a lot of mana, and finishing with some supercharged X spells. I feel like I may have too many non-mana artifacts, and just a few too many creatures. I might take out Hypersonic Dragon and Phyrexian Metamorph. I mostly play with my friends casually, not looking for an infinite combo style deck. My main problem with the deck right now is that it always wins the same way. I survive until I can tutor a mana ritual and then cometstorm for the win. Its super dependent on Melek being out, and its not a very satisfying win.
*I dont want many, if any, counterspells. in my opinion, they are only fun for the person casting them. I would much rather find a way to deal with a card utilizing other players and politics, rather than denying someone the ability to play their own deck.*
