Ok so I'm currently trying to build an azusa stax edh deck and The stax part is really killing me with the lack of room from lands and crucial pieces. So far my stax list is vorinclex, strip mine (will be getting wasteland soon too), crucible of worlds, winter orb and mind slaver if you want to call slaver a stax card i don't know if I'll have any room at all when I drop the $200 I need to finish the deck.

I'm sorry I don't follow the discussion. If you have a specific inquiry relating to my post you'll have to be more clear and I will respond. "High dollar cards" and "couple of bucks" are contradictory terms.

What I mean by that is that money cards typically don't cost much when first released. Cards like Blood Moon, Glimpse of Nature, Through the Breach, Sensei's Divining Top, Lion's Eye Diamond, Kiki-Jiki, Staff of Domination, Goyf etc etc... were not money cards starting off. Just because a card from Oath is bulk right now doesn't mean it will be 6 months to a year from now. Expeditions are a minor factor and when packs quit being popped and supply diminishes some expeditions won't be driving prices up or down.

anguished unmaking seems playable in modern possibly?

but losing 3 life seems pretty steep!

Yeah, it is, but in the right build, life gain, 3 life is an expendable resource.

I don't understand why so many people are saying Expos are deflating card prices. Heck most high dollar cards were only pennies to a couple of bucks.

Wait, not following. Please follow up with more details. I ask because I do not know why you have mentioned this in this thread?

Was responding to "If this new set doesn't have fetchlands or expeditions there's nothing to deflate values. If you see something you like for a low price scoop up a playset. I'd rather pay $40 for a planeswalker that is going to be absolute gas than $20 for one that could be worth $5 in a few weeks." that comment.

I actually traded off my wasteland expo for 2 boxes of oath & an altered consecrated sphinx netted a horizon canopy along with several other $$ cards from those boxes. So I'm not complaining at all :). I guess it really depends on if you really need them or not but wasteland has taken a huge hit since announcement in EM so it might take a while for prices to creep back up.

Also i'm hearing she is an all-star in 1.5 & Modern. I think only time will tell.
Where are you seeing people using her in legacy and modern? She doesn't have nearly enough of a game ending effect in either of those formats to pay 6 for her. Modern games are over before you can drop her, and the decks that could conceivably play her in legacy are using a combo kill (Painter) or efficient creatures (Stompy). There were some people over at the source who briefly entertained the idea of using her in Nic Fit, but she's not nearly high impact enough.

Solid EDH card on top of whatever standard uses she has. Red card draw is always going to have some demand there.

I can't remember exactly where I heard that she was being played in 1.5/modern perhaps my LGS and well yeah Modern is too full of Eldrazi to be using Chandra.

Ohh maybe a Golgari control build thinking something like trainwreck for post rotation standard. Not sure if it would be possible but worth a shot i'll start brewing something Smile sounds fun though Grin Rock'n'Eldrazi or something.

I may replace roast with temper then and free up some space for something else depending on what else is in SoI for red. Still toying with the list though and it's not bad imo for a first time not netdecking i'd say. I'll probably test it out and see how it fairs against current meta too.

Thanks yeah was thinking about doing firecrafts main (once I get them)so 3 Roast instead of 4 and 2 in board -2 Return in main and +4 Firecraft +1 Impulse to deck. Might even sub out an obligator instead of Roast though just toying with ideas atm.

So because of a single card simply based on price you won't play a format? Just because the card is there doesn't mean you have to use it bro. U has plenty of other options as well.

Ok so I decided to brew this deck to make it easy to transition from current standard to post rotation and didn't want to deal with purchasing/trading for cards that are rotating out in a month. This deck is not tested yet mainly because i'm waiting on a few cards to arrive. I believe with some tweaking and help from the community this deck could be viable in Standard though. Anyways here is the deck list so far.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as this is my first T2 deck in over 10 years Smile

So I've recently gotten back into Magic after 9 or 10 years playing more casually off and on thanks to an awesome group me and my fiancee encountered while living in Alabama. I found a "decent" paying job and told her that I wanted to start playing again so since I have Fridays/Saturdays off I started doing FNM again (mainly draft) but would like to get back into constructed. I have been away from constructed for 10 years or so aside from casual EDH. I basically got my collection rolling after my first night doing FNM where I bought a fatpack and 2nd pack in opened a Wasteland expo & Drafted Mana Confluence. I traded off the Wasteland to a friend of mine for 2 boxes of Oath + an altered consecrated sphinx and sold off the Confluence for about $60 that night. So now I have a pretty decent collection of Oath and want to build a devoid deck with the smasher/knot/mimic/reshaper shell but i'm not sure which direction to take devoid and don't want to add too many colors 2-3 max since I would be using Corrupted Crossroads to color filter colored spells. Maybe R/B/G for World Breaker/Bearer/Obligator/Kozi Return?

    Here's our Devoid Aggro thread.

Unfortunately, I've found the deck a bit wanting in regards to taking down tier 1 decks, but it's perfectly fine against a more casual FNM field.

Thanks man yeah i looked into that thread but it appeared most lists ran nothing but devoid. I'm also looking at this as an option post rotation since I have mostly Oath stuff but willing to trade/buy singles if I need to. With so many options devoid can do it makes it tough choosing something that will be competitive in the future meta.
