Agree with DHCell, the Puresteel Paladin build is most competitive in my opinion. I built a monowhite vial version went 8-8 in the Mtgo Modern Constructed leagues and 2-man queues. The Puresteel version is currently 10-5 so I'm sticking with that one for now on Mtgo. Instead of steelshapers gift and Worship, I opted for 4 vials instead. Lands at 4 Caverns, 1 Mutavault, 2 Tectonic Edges. Threw in an infiltration lens instead of bladed bracers also but otherwise same build. Pleasantly surprised with how the deck is working and recommend people give it a shot.

    @cloud030

A minimum of 12 flyers is what I would recommend. In my list that's gone 4-1 twice and a 3-2 finish in the League's (all of the losses were to eldrazi or the new uw control builds sprouting up), I run 12 flyers (4 Flickerwisp, 2 Serra Avengers, 1 Aven Mindcensor, 3 Lingering Souls, 2 Blinkmoth). The great thing is that Magus of the moat buys you so much time that you can actually just draw topdeck into it. But 12 is bare minimum as there were definitely times we just sat in a stalemate waiting for me to draw my flyers. I'm sure with cat mixes build of 16 flyers should be much less frequent.

What's your take on eldrazi Displacer, DeathandCatmix? I've noticed none of your builds run them. I'm running one in my bw build but may change to 1x resto angel since I run 3x Magus of the moat in the sb and may need the flyers.

Is it crazy to maybe run Magus of the moat as a 1x main???? That's how impressed ibe been with it playing in the modern leagues. Doesn't do much against affinity but does a lot against the decks it's very good against. By the time it comes out, most opponents have already burned their removal on thalias, tidehollow, arbiters etc.

DeathandCatmix, I gotta say Magus of the Moat is an absolute house from the SB. Love that tech. I'm running 3 in the SB and roflstomping merfolk, allies, kiki chord/Creature toolbox variants. Helped me win a lot of matches I had zero business winning in the modern leagues. Gone 4-1 a few times now hoping to get a 5-0 finish soon.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the encouragement. Just frustrating when I feel like I have a pretty good list, decent plays, and match ups against an extremely wide field of decks but then pretty much auto lose to the deck that conveniently has become an obscenely huge part of the meta. I remember so many of us saying how well positioned we were after the twin bans only for eldrazi to ruin the fun!

Here is the list from my 5-0 2 days ago in the MTGO League against a diverse set of decks but once again was my first League where I did not encounter Eldrazi deck...

Topdeck tech - what's your build? Are you running bw/ww/etc? Do share! We need to band together in these dark times!

Anyone else getting saltier and saltier playing and losing against any version of the Eldrazi decks these days? Seriously, would love any D&T-er here to tell me how they are possibly winning against that deck? There is no magic dart in our SB and our deck that gives us an even a remote chance of winning against them.

@Deathandcatmix - Thank you, very helpful information! Hopefully SoI we will see some banhammer action. I think the BW Build is a fantastic way to go for D&T and is a great match-up for the rest of the format as I saw in my 3 league entries. The Eldrazi deck is near hopeless in my testing responsible for 3 of my 4 losses across the 15 matches. Tidehollow helps (I run 3x), but every card they draw is the beats. Their topdeck is better than ours in most cases even when you have a stalled board. Even after my 5-0 with a BW build, I am thinking of switching to a RW build that runs 3x Magus of the Moon, 1x Phyrexian Metamorph, 2x Wall of Resurgence (credit to @Deathandcatmix of course) and 2x Crumble to Dusts in the SB tho I'm not even sure how effective that is if they get a solid opener...

Does anyone know when the soonest Eye of Ugin or Eldrazi Temple can get banned by WOTC? Like how often do they do ban announcements?

I played in the Modern League on MTGO several times this past week, getting 3-2, 3-2, and finally a 5-0 (running BW D&T - similar to the other BW builds, but I run a main-deck 1x Infiltration Lens, 2x Lingering Souls, 1x Zealous Persecution, and 1x Kytheon). I noticed my 5-0 stint was the only League where I did NOT encounter any Eldrazi decks the whole time and therefore had a chance to actually win games. Smile The Eldrazi deck is such a menace and really hard to stop. Not being salty, just curious what the realistic timelines are for WOTC to do something if they were going to...

Agreed. Played in a few queues on MTGO today. Currently 2-2 against Eldrazi decks...1 win against the Eldrazi Control version (the slow one with Blight Herder and Oblivion Sower) so effectively 1-2 against the Eldrazi Aggro version that's much faster that cleaned up at the PTQ. This deck is incredibly hard to beat and also anticipating a ban. I play the BW version that has Tidehollow Sculler 4x which helps A TON in that match-up, but NOTHING stops SSG + Eye of Ugin/Eldrazi Temple on T1 or T2 into Thought Knot or Reality Smasher...1 guy's Turn 1 play was Eye of Ugin into 2 Endless One's at 2/2. I played a T1 Vial with only 3 drops in hand so got smashed for 8 before I could do anything or put anyone on the board while he advanced into Thought Knot Seers...was just so lost.

Wall of Resurgence is looking very very good these days...just picked up 4x - thanks for the tip, DNC!!!

    Hey guys,
So finally had a chance to test out the RW D&T build (see below) today and went 3-1 beating 8-Rack, Red Deck Wins, and the Eldrazi Control only losing to Utopia Sprawl/Emrakul/Overgrowth deck. Didn't take any great notes, but few things that stood out - putting this to tournament level practice:
-Magus of the Moon maindeck is actually a HOSS and probably the only way I beat Eldrazi Control deck. How is everyone else faring vs the new onslaught of Eldrazi Control?
-Kiki Jiki combo only happened I think twice the entire time but definitely helped me win games out of nowhere. Kiki was still useful in other ways by adding tons of value to Blade Splicers, Flickerwisps, and Finks. Was even able to get through Lingering Souls by hard casting Flickerwisp + Vial-ing in Kiki and having another Flickerwisp token take out any Lingering Souls to get through the final points of damage with everyone else attacking on the board. Wish Kiki could copy a Mangara, but realized Mangara is legend.
-Mangara 1 of is perfect. I know he's mostly fallen out of favor but even running only 6 flicker effects, he still was extremely disruptive everytime he popped out. When he was good, he was VERY good.
-# of Bolts and Helixes were just fine in the deck and Helixes life gain was useful and helped me beat Red Deck Wins on Game 1. I plan to cut one Bolt for Eldrazi Displacer as a 1x in the deck, which still leaves me with 7 sources of removal instead of 8 currently (3 Paths, 3 Bolts, 2 Helixes).

    Creatures:
    2 Figure of Destiny
    4 Leonin Arbiter
    3 Thalia Guardian of Thraben
    2 Flickerwisp
    2 Blade Splicer
    2 Kitchen Finks
    3 Magus of the Moon
    1 Mangara of Corondor
    4 Restoration Angel
    2 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
    Artifacts:
    4 Aether Vial
    Instants:
    3 Path to Exile
    3 Lightning Bolt
    2 Lightning Helix
    Lands:
    4 Sacred Foundry
    6 Plains
    3 Flooded Strand
    4 Ghost Quarter
    2 Tectonic Edge
    1 Mutavault
    2 Clifftop Retreat
    1 Mountain

    Hey all
Now that it's been a few days since Oath came out, how is Eldrazi Displacer performing for everyone? Has this become a D&T staple hands down as a 1,2,3-of? What are everyone's thoughts? Everything cracked up to be and more or underwhelming in real life? Just saw the Erik Townsend list running 2x Eldrazi Displacer so was curious!

    Hi all,
Finally bit the bullet and got my d&t decks on MTGO. Still getting the hang of Mtgo new version but would love to be able to test with the community here. My username is bmchu168. Hit me up - I have a bw and rw version - would love to see what you guys are working with!

QQ for BW players, what is the right turn 1 play when your opener has inquisition and Aether Vial? I can see arguments for both but don't have all the cards in the bw deck so have never playtested.

Do you know what your opponent is playing? If so does that deck have a one or two drop (depending if your on the play or draw) that you need to hit? Then play discard then vial. If you don't know what your opponent is on look at your hand. Do you have multiple options turn two that additional information can help you decide what's the right play? Then discard. Is your hand full of threes like Flicker and reliant on the value provided by vial? Than play vial.

Sadly it's not a............ black and white answer.

Badum chi. Ha-ha thanks. Yeah figured as much, I guess most confusing is what you do game 1 with no information but yes I guess best to see what best synergizes the rest of your hand.
