I'm thinking you want to find room for Windreader Sphinx, to send your card draw into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. *cracks whip*
Hahaha, would be fun.
Bident of Thassa has almost the same effect (not exactly :), but just 4 mana cost), as long as my opponent hasn't a deck full of flyers. And 7 manacost is prohibitive.
Trying to create something new, I came with this deck last week. After some online play, the deck impressed me (but unfortunately, Drown in Sorrow is nigh :D)
I have had success against mono black and mono blue (and other not so strong decks like Selesnia, Rakdos Aggro and UB Control). Have a hard time against Esper, but no deck is perfect ;). Some cards, like Sphinx Revelation and Master of Waves were tested but for one reason or another, were cut. Lavinia also started in the MD. Also tryed to use Council of the Absolute as a SB plan with Jace, Architect of Thought (bad try).
So, this is the list I playtested a lot, with very good results:
Now, with access to Born of the Gods, I wanna try to make this a real thing. Didn't playtest yet, but made some considerations:
- Ephara, God of the Polis would be a nice inclusion to the deck as a draw engine. I could drop one Bident and use a playset of Deputy of Aqquitals MD (it has sinergy with Lyev Skyknight)
- I can play around Bile Blight, but Drown in Sorrow is almost a Wrath against this deck, I'm not sure yet what to use to counter it. Fortify come to my mind, and can be used while attacking, but I don't like to have to play with 3 mana open. Swan Song would be perfect if the token wasn't flyer . Also Supreme Verdict hurts the same way it hurts mono blue. Need more work here.
- With the new Scry land, the deck can run less gates for sure.
With all of this in mind, I'll start testing with something like this:
Don't know yet if Fortify deserves 3 SB slots, just have to try it. The drop on the number of creatures is relevant, but I'm not sure how good Lawmage and the Sphinx would go without the Warden to help to cast them (yes, weakening the hexproof plan makes me a little sad), and may be i'm too worried about Drown in Sorrow :D.
With the imminence of BNG, I'm foccused on the second list, but advices on both would be appreciated.
I have the same experience. Not always, but on average I get more white cards, and it seems I get even more white if I generate a deck seeded with whatever color.
Great tool for getting a feel for the set, though!
Same here, I tryed one seed of each color:
Black: 24 black, 23 white, only 8 blue (only five blue commons)
Red: 20 red, 19 white (other colors were balanced at 13-16)
Green: 20 green, 20 white, 10 red and 10 black
Blue: 24 blue, 22 white, only 8 red (only 3 red commons)
White: 28 white, 15 red, 12 green, 11 black, 8 blue
I'm not counting lands, artifacts and golden cards above because the point is to show that we're getting white cards more than the others.
Anyway, this tool really helps, thanks for your work.
I can see Ephara in a WU devotion similar to the Mono U with Deputy, DSphere and may be Azorius Charm, where she'll be a plus. Also, we only have 28 out of 165 cards, who knows what would make this card even better?
Well, it's in fact a completely different deck. Thanks for your tips, I started to read about Naya control and for sure it has a very good potential, but after some comparisons and some online play with both I'll at least give Boros a try.
This is my list. Took me a while to set up, and I love it very much, and it performs exceedingly well. The MB is 100% complete, with the SB having all the crucial things for my meta.
This list works BRILLIANTLY. The SB needs work, yeah, but the MB is very solid. Ember Swallower works amazing in the mirror match, and its in my main because RDW is the main deck in my meta. If its not a big deck in your meta, it can easily be stuck in the SB for another Fanatic.
Peak Eruption is also great against RDW, G/R agro, Boros weenie, and USA Scry. Messes up their land, and hits them for 3 aswell.
Played the last FNM in my LGS with almost the same maindeck:
-1 Mountain
-1 Swallower
+2 Mutavault
My side was very different from yours, with 3 MindSparker (used only against two Espers but didn't draw it) and 3 Act of Treason, no pithing Needle (would be great against Jace in both matches), no Electrickery and no Flames. What do you think would be the best use for these cards?
In fact, I'm reading posts for a while, and I really thought I had a post somewhere in this section and started posting in Standard section. My fault.
I play Magic since 1994, when 4th edition was released on Brazil (I'm not so old, just 34), played from Fallen Empires to 10th Edition, stopped and came back about a year ago to play modern, then started playing commander and started on Return to Ravnica block to play Standard (I'm only interested in this format right now).
I'm not a fan of green, but don't have a favorite color. I have a RDW, a Boros and a Grixis Mill deck at the moment (almost givin' up the last one), but if everything goes wrong, I would not be ashame of running a MUD in a FNM.
Had fun with it too, Medomai is a bomb! Unless when it eats removal (unfortunately, almost any deck runs removal).
Hahaha, would be fun.

You're right, it doesn't work. In fact, I never saw a deck able to cast a viable Enter the Infinite.

Uh, well, Kikki is miles better, I know.
I replaced a Ember Swallower and a Chandra's Phoenix for two more Anger of the Gods MD. Let's see how it'll do in the next FNM.
Thanks again.
What about Sylvan Caryatid? It's good against early aggro and helps your three-color mana base.
Played the last FNM in my LGS with almost the same maindeck:
-1 Mountain
-1 Swallower
+2 Mutavault
