Hello All, been awhile since I've last posted anything around here.
(almost a year)
Getting back into standard and I've come to admire the Boros Burn deck currently getting jobs done all around in top 8's
and this is the current list I have with a few blank spaces in need of filling and some ideas I have that I'd like to know others thoughts on(due to not knowing the meta via firsthand experience and coming out of a 7 month break of magic.
few things that I've noticed about Boros Burn is I didn't see a single Boros Reckoner in any of the lists that top 8'd... is this because of Doom Blade, Heros Downfall, ect? I feel like the meta is slow and Reckoner could be great vs most of the decks aside from control.
I'm not sure if its correct for my to run a 2/2 split of Young Pyromancer and Ash Zealot but after spending some time on cockatrice its not completely stupid to do so this brings me to my main point of discussion for this post!
3/1 Haste, Tribute 2 if they don't pay u can cast a free spell and if they do you get a 5/3 haster for 4
In my testing I've found he is usually a 5/3 because everyone is afraid of Boros burn and getting a free burn spell is just too much
Am I crazy for thinking he could be a bomb for Boros Burn?
A 3/1 with haste should cost 2
So to get real advantage with him you have to cast something that is 3 or more, only Warleader's Helix comes to mind. This, and the fact that your opponent will choose what is better for him, keeps the card out of the deck (just my opinion).
It's better to use it with cards with drawbacks like Desecration Demon and Alms Beast, and the Gods (Nylea and Erebos in a dredge deck should be interesting).
Is the sage card a joke? R and D really has to clue do they? Maybe like 3 counters would have been reasonable. You will NEVER get him to 5 counters even in a limited game.
Just a godawful card showing how out to lunch the creators are. On the other hand Ajani is sweet for standard i guess. Everything else in unplayable.
One less counter required and all of the "put three +1/+1 counters" effects of other cards would become "take an extra turn" effects, five is fine.
This one changes nothing in the current meta, will be great in limited if you're lucky enought to pull one.
Hope the other gods also have two static abilities.
I used to play two but I found myself wishing they were Dreadbore, unless when I had the mana to overload it, but in that case Gaze of Granite does a better job. And I'm nto sure if an early drop based on blue would be good.
I used to play two for a while, but as I played with the deck I decided to cut them. I found myself wishing they where Dreadbora most of the time, unless when I had the mana to overload, but for seven mana Gaze of Granite usually does a better job. The mana base is essencialy Green/Black at first, don't know if it would be a good idea to have two mana drops off these colors.
It reads "triggers inspired ability NOW". And you can get the trigger for 1 after that... Seens too powerful to happen.

Not competitive, but nice.

Turn 1: land
Turn 2: Land, Sylvan Caryatid
Turn 3: Land, Vorel of the Hull Clade
Turn 4: Land, Ajani
Turn 5: Sage, Infinite Turns
Yes, I'm a dreammer
