No one is asking everyone to forget the past. Eliminating the existence of racist or insensitive cards does erase the memory of slavery or other injustices against humanity. It is a similar issue with states - you don’t put these thing in the face of those who were affected by it.

I totally agree, and yeah, the only one I truly seen and should have been dealt with (like 20 years ago) was the Invoke Prejudice, but the rest is basically comes down to that. And the Imprison to me is just taken out of context. Its an iron looking mask from art work from the early 90s, its not as crisp and clean as it would be today, and then you got the people who say its because of "Slavery", well, biggest bust on that is slavery has been done for thousands of years from nearly every culture around the world.

The fact that slavery was acceptable back in the day is no excuse for creating a card referencing it. In general, just because the majority agrees to something doesn't make it right. There are numerous examples of this throughout history. That is just another way to try and justify one of the most inhumane crimes against humanity.

In general, I think names that just have a story behind them have been popular to some, but I’ve never felt like names were appropriate because they never have anything to do with the deck. Nicfit, for example makes no sense, while sneak & show does.

Is Run Away Together a reference to Hunchback of Notre Dame? Or something else?

I was thinking it was about the story, Where the Wild things are, or something like that.

Congrats on the deckbuild! Zedruu was my first commander, and it has had quite a few iterations throughout the years. I was wondering if you've tried homeward path in your deck. It works well with Starke of Rath and a couple of other creatures that exchange as a result of an activated ability. Also, since you are drawing so many cards, Wild Research might be useful to make sure you can draw what you need. My version of the deck is more of a exchange / control version, but I like some of your ideas.

I really wish they would return to 5 decks per commander set. It would definitely open up the potential of decks we could get. Nowadays it just feels like we are getting robbed, especially with higher prices.

How about diversity in approach? Are these all going to end up as exactly the same 100 card crap piles? Time will tell but right now signs point to yes. I guess Onlinesbi sudoku aadhar card they are indeed making the face commander straightforward and boring, while letting the side-commanders be the creative ones.

I think they have actually done a good job with providing us with varied commanders. At least one can be built directly around, while others have more random abilities and can go in any direction. Anje, Sevinne, Ghired and Kadena all can be built around their respective abilities(which IMO is what commander is all about) but there are other commanders like K'rrck, Volrath, Marisi and Chainer that can be built in all sorts of ways. With the exception of maybe a few commander sets, this seems to be consistent with previous decks.

I think everyone should stop and remember what their first experience of EDH was when thinking of who these decks are for. I'm not sure how many started with 2011, but I started there. My first deck was Zedruu (exchange.dec) which won with Storm Herd. I didn't have to worry about getting beatdown by cEDH decks because there was no such thing. Fast forward a few years, and it's easy to see how newer players are denied the experience of playing a deck out of the box and slowly tuning it to their liking. I think the best remedy as someone mentioned earlier would be to communicate what type of playgroup / playstyle you're sitting with and adjust accordingly. Don't play cEDH decks against new players.

I'm very curious to see how everyone ranks the Commander products. I'm sure as a community we'd be all over the map. It seems like reprints are the thing that people consider the most when deciding whether a product is successful. That's interesting, since I've always felt like the commanders and new cards were the most important (and I know this is just my opinion). Perhaps that's why 2018 is viewed with such a negative lens? I felt that set was 4th best behind 2011, 2013 and 2016.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the myriad creatures. I'm building a Saskia deck and I'm starting with the idea of using her with warchief giant and banshee of the dread to do massive damage in one turn. The downside is that they are double mana spells which will make them difficult to cast, but I think these 2 are solid adds to the creature base. The equipment that grants myriad is also in my build.

I have to agree with darrenhabib. Boros isn't really bad because of players' hatred for LD, but rather that Boros decks tend to be creature based decks that win through the combat step. The problem is that when you are playing all those creatures and you can't draw cards without helping the rest of the table, you're going to eventually stall out. I think what you are saying has more to do with the color red only. Red is good at direct damage, chaos, and land destruction. Since people had LD (for good reason), it will never be acceptable in a casual meta. As a result red is typically used to supplement other commanders (usually with staples) or to play chaos decks.

If you want to play MLD, you need to play in a competitive meta where anything goes.

  • posted a message on Responding to weak playgroups
I feel like the question is kind of misleading. What makes the playgroup weak? Are you labeling a playgroup as weak because they don't play certain cards? Or is it because of game play errors? I think it's best to give advice when asked or when there is misunderstanding of rules. I would never sit down to a table and assume anything about the players based on card selection. That's how they chose to build their deck, and you don't know if it's due to affordability, choice, skill, or play style. To answer your question though, if I don't have a deck with me that can "fit in" with what a playgroup is playing, I may borrow a deck, but I wouldn't label that playgroup as weak. I just don't think it's a fair assumption to make. At the end of the day, I think people want to have fun and tend to play what is most comfortable for them.

Commander 2011 - The Original Wedges - I only build 3 color decks, so these were perfect.
Commander 2013 - The Allied Wedges - The only missing piece to the above was the other 5 decks.
Commander 2016 - I like the idea behind the set, 4 color offered a lot of options especially the "partner" mechanic.
Commander 2017 - Even though I don't like tribal because of its limits, there are some great new commanders to build decks around.
Commander 2015 - The problem with this set is that the commanders are way too dependent on the commanders being in play. The experience mechanic was a flop for me.
Commander 2014 - Mono-colored decks have limitations in general because you are beholden to a color's weaknesses, but the decks were also boring and didn't offer much.
