  • posted a message on Is it common to land on one deck and stick with it?
Less concern with the matchups and more on finding something fun. my first standard event i saw a tempered steel deck and litterally watched a guy pour his entire hand onto the field turn 1. it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen and since then ive been playing a casual affinity deck. ive had the deck together since scars rotated and i managed to get my opals and while its not fine tuned as far as my meta goes but i enjoy the fact i can dump my hand turn 1

They actually revealed what Dragonfury is the other day. It is indeed a prerelease gimick.

Edit: Anyone notice how the Dragon Fodder and Evolving Wilds are common and have rare stickers on them? Kinda weird

Whats nice with the new frames is they say what they are at the bottom. these appear to be some sort of a promo called "Khans Drgonfury" my guess is some sort of ugin's fate booster and cards from that say they are from "ugin's fate"

I hate to be negative, but so far I haven't seen anything exciting. Too many unplayable dragons which don't excite me in the least, and nothing very interesting in terms of mechanics.

i remember when khans came out a complaint about torrent elemental being able to reanimate from exile and in the poster's eyes kinda ruined magic bc it broke rules with exile and someone else posted saying hornet queen is ruining magic bc we are getting some pretty cool dragons but most will be chump blocked by hornet queen tokens and all these dragons will die before getting any real effect on the game

Interested to see what happens with shaman in regards to edh lot of set up but if you do get to like 14 mana for wrath of god and boros charm and shamans ability, there's no reason you can't win otherwise, that's about enough mana for palinchron and deadeye and you could also do it off tooth and nail and tooth isnt banned despite 2 creature win combo being a thing

So looks like more dragon tribal awesome I'm down. Also interested to see what other khans get printed seeing as there is anther Sidisi. The elder dragon I'm assuming cycle should be interesting I like all the fate legendary dragons and sulimgar is pretty awesome. Also I'm guessing bolas chromium and the gang are getting errated to be elder dragons unless they never changed and elder has always been a creature type exclusive to 5 creatures

  • posted a message on Are Scapeshift and/or Twin the superior "control" decks in Modern compared to UWR Control?
Seeing as i have 3 basics i would lose super quick to an unanswered blood moon. my main sb options are more discard so maybe i get rid of them quick enough

  • posted a message on [Speculation] Wizards Reprinting Fetchlands?
ImO this makes sense where wizards said pre theros they wanted to print entire cycle for lands and while I feel 30 which is currently a decent price on misty is a bit much where I can get delta and stand under 15$ I'm all for allied duals but I also don't see how it helps anytHing but modern. I feel like temples do more right now in standard. Fetching basics is great 1-2 colors but even with better wedge or shard fetching they don't auctually help unless dredge finds its way into red or white in dragons like the shards of alara started to intertwine wHich I find unlikely

Zur, uril, thrun, imo basically any voltron type as I said uril and thru work well alone if you enchant and equip the hell out of them. Hexproof is huge as you said natset which I agree with though having utility for is good. Zur is probably a poster child as he tutors a win con or another way for him not to die and honestly wins on hisown if he untaps.
Voltron I would also. Add most white legands, stoneforge is great, maybe rafiq he wants to attack alone either way and plays in good colors for auras, rancor, aqueous form armadillo cloak lots of ways to get through, and as isaid you can rely on your commander but utilty creatures help
Sorry card tags won't work on my phone

  • posted a message on Why do counterspells feel unfun to play against?
Quick question, how are most games played? Short answer spells. If everything you play is countered does that create a fun enviorment where you are likely to continue playing? Unless you play dredge or oops all spells no, not likely. So wizards tries to keep this from happening in the formats they control like standard and modern. Same goes for land destruction bc like spells players need lands to play and possibly win.
EDIT in my slightly drunken stupor I read over the thread I still stand by my original post and would like to expand and say that as a ub fae modern control player I do understand the power of mana leak and remand and would Honestly say most of the true power of the deck is in the discard. Inquisition and thoughtseize cover a LOT of weight and I would say disrupting a spell 2 or 3 turns before it even becomes relevant is a much bigger advantage. Not to say knowing what to counter isn't Huge bc it is. Simply seeing an opponent's hand is Huge against and for a control deck. I can keep cOunters and remOval for when they really matter most

I've been casually playing ub fae and training to get together a sb and twin is the main thing I'm not sure how to side in against and my fairly poor assessment of modern I say yes. My sb options right now are sudden death and anywhere between 1-3 illness in the ranks. Sorry card tags aren't working on phone but I can't really figure out other than counters a good way around kiki or twin. I have counters and some removal but twin is interesting along with scapeshift

So my store most people went jeskai in hopes of soulfire and monastery promos. myself i went with sultai, 90% certain im the only person who did, hoping to get the couple cards for my Sidisi EDH. Ended up 4-0 with no losses keeping up with my land drops and quickly getting out my 4 or 5 flyers and keeping my opponents with out creatures. LOTS of Ugins were opened i think 5 maybe 6 also lots of fetches in the FTF packs which is fairly exciting.
So just curious how everyone else has been doing. this is my first time winning a tournament like this and im rather excited and feel like sharing

  • posted a message on Come on in and brag about some good trades you've had! :)
While back i trade thundermaw hellkite (45 at the time) and some other small stuff for 2 mox opal (like 20 or so each) the trade was bad on my side at the time and it was probably a couple weeks before thundermaw rotated and the legendary rule change which the trade now is roughtly 100$ in my favor

  • posted a message on What are Blue's weaknesses now?
Considering how long pongify has been printed i dont see reality shift seeing any play. Blue can delay permanents thats about it and like the rest of the colors they all have some problem with permants. green can't really hit creatures, black can't hit artifacts and enchants, red can't hit enchants and anything out of burn range can't really be dealt with in red, white can hit most things but creature removal can sometimes be very situational outside of path and stp which have slight downside, and blue does have some problems with resolved spells as they really have to bounce and then counter or they use removal that leaves behind friends
