Theres never a bad time to start the problem right now is a lot of cards are super playable in modern and its raising a lot prices on standard cards that are also staples, ie Jace, the modern eldrazi cards, fetches, and cards like collected company and kolaghans command. id honestly say this is probaly the most ecpensive standard ive ever seen purely bc of the number of cards playable in modern, recent memory i can say maybe 2-3 cards a block really make this big an impression on modern.

**** you evolving wilds seriously I know it's a simple reprint ahs impacts nothing but can they reprint terramorphic expanse switch it up a bit or a new again just to switch it up. Nothing more tiring than the same card every set.

Problem I see is the casting requirement for this and then into twin while not impossible and probably easier than I give it credit is still a large commitment to all 3 colors and won't play well against a blood moon where the other 2 only need 1 specific mana to be cast

So my store most people went jeskai in hopes of soulfire and monastery promos. myself i went with sultai, 90% certain im the only person who did, hoping to get the couple cards for my Sidisi EDH. Ended up 4-0 with no losses keeping up with my land drops and quickly getting out my 4 or 5 flyers and keeping my opponents with out creatures. LOTS of Ugins were opened i think 5 maybe 6 also lots of fetches in the FTF packs which is fairly exciting.
So just curious how everyone else has been doing. this is my first time winning a tournament like this and im rather excited and feel like sharing

Im super excited for this bc i play group hug and like pongify and rapid hybridization i play with all the bad removal like this that leave behind friends

Also dont expect these to be worth anything. they shouldnt be worth more than 1$ for a playset

Honestly the pain land cycle is not my first choice for a dual land but i will say having access to 2 colors turn 1 without the land entering tappped is a good thing. they tap for colorless also so paired with temples or basic lands they will still do some good mid to late game with out costing too much life. if modern can fetch a shock to play thoughtseize, 5 life, turn 1 and go into turn 2 confidant and not bat an eye im sure standard can do with a little life loss over the span of a game

I'd say this is middle of the pack, Dominaria was filled with garbage rares. Though in the limited set, it could be common and not overly powerful (since there are so few colorless creatures to exile). The fact that, Ceremonious Rejection sees play (yes it hits more things on the way down) means there's a slot for this somewhere.

Keep in mind, you (the caster of the spell) gains the life points, which is relevant.

WoTC has been pretty adamant that we will never get another Path to Exile any 1 drop remove that is going to have stipulations, see Fatal Push.

This is why the return of core sets excites me. Sets like conspiracy and battlebond show the power and value of reprints that wizards can afford to place in normal-priced packs with large print runs. Core sets create a chance to get some of that value on a more regular basis.

...as long as those cards are appropriate for standard... and wouldn't hurt modern... and have text simplistic enough for a core set... seems limiting but still allows for things like fetch lands, death's shadow, or thoughtsieze in the future.

Yes; the chapters of Sagas are triggered abilities triggered by putting a lore counter on them. If counters cannot be put on them there will be no resulting effect.

Something people are forgetting is the Eldrazi decks will also adapt. There is no getting past the fact that that amount of fast mana combined with big creatures and relevant abilities is borderline ban-able. If it was a non-tribal deck like Jund/Abzan that found a strategy like this people would be even more vehement about the ban talk IMO. It's because this is a "new" phenomenon facilitated almost completely by OGW that people are giving it time. Like a poster before said, the ambush Affinity analogy is relevant, but the part that makes it slightly incompatible is we have no hate to sideboard for the Eldrazi. 4CMC Sorcery "Destroy all Eldrazi" in R and G? Nope. 1R Instant "Destroy target Eldrazi" with G Flashback? Nope. 1W Enchantment "Eldrazi entering the battlefield don't cause abilities to trigger"? Nope. We need a variety of targeted answers to Eldrazi in multiple colors for the Affinity analogy to work. All we have at the moment is people lunging towards "Prison"-themed decks that stop anything from attacking...is that where we want to be? Where the "police" decks are ones that stop the primary method of winning a game of magic?

I'm not sure "Just run more removal" is even an answer worth entertaining, and neither is "Hope they don't have their solid hands". Cheap life gain can address burn, Artifact hate can address affinity, what non-generic answers exist solely for Eldrazi that could assist in a match up?

Also, it would be cool the fact that Kozilek's Channeler produces 2 colorless mana, what is exactly what Kozilek requires assuming this <> mana symbol means "must be payed with colorless"
