how do people feel about ojutai exemplars? ive squeezed 2 into the mb and hes a rockstar. it shines the most with burn or draw spells in hand but works with counters too if they try to remove before swinging (which is quite common). he is easily protected, solid offense capabilities and can efficiently halt attacks all for no extra mana.

I like Ojutai Exemplars as a one-of. He just costs too much mana when I could cast something else like Ajani Vengeant that requires slightly less protection. More importantly, when I finally reach the ability to cast it and have any sort of protection up, I (generally) could just activate Celestial Colonnade. Basically, I would only consider it if you need more threats for your local metagame.

I will say this though: He keeps Thrun, the Last Troll (or anything else with hexproof or shroud) on lockdown with little effort, which was a huge plus for me.

I stopped updating the primer, so...

It needs new cards to be printed, or a meta shift. Ojutai would be good if the meta was a lot slower and there was less liliana.

Hoogland and McLaren has tried to make it work, but their win rates aren't quite high enough for the deck to catch on.

I think these are currently the wrong colors for Control (oddly enough). I have been running Sultai and it has been very smooth (It may be more midrange i guess, but it does run Cryptics, Leaks, Snaps, etc. with the addition of discard and Goyf for pressure).

I really hope a reprint happens to boost UWR. I love this deck.

    Grixis

I've thought about it, but I may as well just play Twin at that point

What decks are you having problems with? I find that UWR control requires a lot of fine-tuning for you specific metagame and play style. I currently don't have a ton of problems with the popular decks right now. My largest issue was actually fixing my mana base.

I'm wondering how Kiora would be. If you're most worried about Thunderbreak and Stormbreath, she'd be a solid way to neutralize them. You also get a solid finisher like Sarkhan, without having to put extra things in your deck.

If your opponent is paying attention, wouldn't Thunderbreak Regent's ability kill Kiora, the Crashing Wave?

    There was a bad quote character ( ʺ instead of " ) and several wrong apostrophes ( ʹ instead of ' )
I've fixed these and added you to the bypass so you shouldn't have any further trouble.

I'm not even sure how that's possible but thank you.

Would you have a look at this list and let me know why I keep getting the error code?

Yah Sagu Mauler is the new Aetherling, methinks. Esp since Kiora is the new Jace AoT

I am not sure I would go that far. Mauler will be a pain to deal with but, a simple death touch creature can finish him off or a board-wipe, which there are 4 of at them moment in standard that will hit him (Elspeth, Duneblast, End Hostilities, and Extinguish All Hopes). I think he will be good and hard to deal with, but not a virtually impossible to deal with game ender that AEtherling was. I remember I had to use 3 spot removal cards in a row to kill one aetherling.

So if the answers to mauler is narrow and bad on their own this is what makes it bad?

Look at Geist of St. Traft during its standard. The ONLY reason this guy was good at all there were 2-3 cards in the entire format that could answer him.

Take any creature out there in the format. Then, look at all the removal that can kill. The creature with the least removal answers will rise to the top of the meta game.

Mauler is crazy good. Even if they have deathtouch. Mauler has trample. He will be hitting your opponent in the face. He isn't legendary we can pack 4 of them into a deck. The real question is this. Is he better than doom engine? I really don't know.

How are those choices narrow? If they're constructed worthy, just having 2 of those cards would be enough for a control deck. Sagu Mauler is alright, but it doesn't have the evasiveness or utility of AEtherling. Then again, I don't think most people would put Sagu Mauler in a control shell as a finisher either. I'm not saying it's bad, but it ain't no AEtherling.

Rotation talk probably not a good idea in the competitive forum. The best place to talk about rotation is in New Card Discussion or Standard Deck Creation

Anyway, Magma Spray or Mizzium Mortars?

It depends on your local metagame. If you get run over by the likes of RabbleRed, Boros aggro and company, I suggest Magma Spray. Magma Spray handles that much better than Mizzium Mortars. Mizzium Mortars was really popular IMO because it's one of the few spells (not named Supreme Verdict) we have that deal with Blood Baron of Vizkopa or Stormbreath Dragon.

    Anyone still like Firemind's Foresight?

I've never really liked it for one reason: What would you get with it that matters in any matchup?

Keranos is amazing! I don't know why any UWR wouldn't run it. I automatically assumed that you just left it off. How can you not be impressed? In the aggro meta that seems to be everywhere, it craps on a ton of things or digs until you find answers. In control mirrors, it becomes a clock of sorts AND card advantage. I will say, however, that after adding Keranos to my deck when it came out, I felt Assemble the Legion has been better out of the sideboard. Mostly, I rely on Elspeth, Sun's Champion to win, but I have just beaten opponents into submission with just Keranos on the board.

I think automatically adding 4 Azorius Charm is an overreaction. It's good, but really the best part about it is that it replaces itself in the worst case scenario (that it's a dead card). Sometimes you really just need that card to be an answer.

I would definitely add Magma Spray, but I use Magma Jet in place of it because the scry is usually useful and my deck is slightly different. Also, I would consider Reprisal for super big, non-pro/white creatures (at least out of the sideboard). It's helped me a ton with Polukranos, Obzedat, etc.) Maybe Izzet Charm is useful for you, but every time I've played it, I've always wished it were an Azorius Charm.

The notification process keeps locking up.
They're looking into a way to make it auto-restart when that happens.

That seems more like a work-around than a solution to whatever causes it to lock up.

It's these type of jerks that show up at FNM that cause me to enjoy it less. Now, I just treat people in kind at FNMs and other similar REL-events. If you want to be a rules lawyer/jerk, then you'll get the same from me. If you play it cool, I'll play it cool.

Like many other have said, I don't think this particular situation had anything to do with being comptetive. The guy just let his jerk out.

Oh I thought you meant being able to see trade matches between myself and another person.

I'm not sure what you mean, but let me explain what I thimk you mean.
Your looking for Card x, you put it in the want field
You have Card B, you put it in the haves field
Click filter, and it will show you a list of users who have what you want and vise-versa

I get what you're saying. I thought you meant there was a trade matcher that would compare entire trade threads between two people.

What seems to be the main issue with the search function? If a user doesn't format properly, it isn't going to show up. It didn't show up on the other site either.
You can filter by wants, haves, price, author, just sales or just trades. Seems more robust than the old MTGS. And like the old site you can match your wants to other's haves.

Where does one match one's wants to other's haves?
