Feb 4, 2014Chilli_Axe posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favourite card is definitely Manor Gargoyle. It's extremely flavourful, it's relevant in limited, it's actually a pretty great card and you can pull off some shenanigans with how its ability is worded. Everything about the card is just perfect.Posted in: Announcements

A few questions:
* What do you guys think of Mutavault as a one-of, replacing a Swamp, to make Gravecrawlers better? It fills the same role as Fatestitcher and while it's more mana intensive, I feel that it's worth including because it can be used more than once
* Since Verdant Catacombs are too expensive for me at the moment, I've substituted them with Wooded Foothills. Should I be running Bloodstained Mire instead? My concern is that I won't be able to fetch out basic Forests with Mire's, but it might be worth it if I'm able to get both black shocklands instead
* I've decided to run Grisly Salvage as a 4-of instead of Tracker's Instincts, because it's able to grab lands as well as creatures. Losing flashback might be more important though - what do you think?
* Are there any important mainboard cards I'm missing?

A few questions I've got at the moment:
* Is it worth it to run the 1-of K-command and Murderous Cut? It feels like a lot of the time they'll just be being dredged into and won't serve any purpose but to be exiled to feed a delve creature, so I feel like cutting them might be worthwhile if it means I can go up to 4x on both GGT and Gurmag Angler.
* Speaking of GGT, I had 4 in the deck before but had the idea of cutting one and running 1x Shambling Shell instead. The theory is that, in a grindier matchup where my opponent has managed to get rid of my last zombie, I can continue to dredge and bring back the Shell, and since it counts as a Zombie for Gravecrawler, I can get my Vengevines back and go back on the offensive from an empty board state without having to try to draw into it. What do you guys think about this addition? Is it worth it to lose some power behind the dredge engine for this utility, or should it be relegated to the sideboard?
* How's the sideboard looking at the moment? I don't have any idea of what to expect from my local game store, so any feedback in this area is much appreciated
Thanks for reading
What matchup would you bring in the Probes for, and what would you take out? From your description, it sounds like more of a mainboard card to me.

How Competitive (For Fun, Local Tournament, MTGO, PTQ/GP): The sort of thing I can take to FNM's and local tournaments and do well with.
Favorite Cards/Colors: Cards: Creatures - Vengevine, Past in Flames, Unburial Rites, Griselbrand. Colours - UR, BG, and decks that don't rely on manabases as much as other decks and can't really be defined as being XYZ colours (for instance, dredge or oops, all spells)
Budget: Somewhere in the range of $150 to $200.
Staples Owned: Deathrite Shaman, Overgrown Tomb, Watery Grave, Breeding Pool, Griselbrand, Gifts Ungiven, Maelstrom Pulse, Extirpate.
Side Note: for the manabase, painlands and shocklands aren't too big of a deal, but I'm not currently able to get ahold of any fetchlands, although I could eventually trade for them after building the deck. I'm sort of leaning towards UR Storm, but it hasn't been doing too well lately and I'm looking for a potentially stronger deck. Either that, or I'm misinformed about its power level.
Ogre Battledriver wouldn't, as far as I know, provide your Zombie tokens with haste, as it requires another creature to enter the battlefield. The Zombie tokens enter before the DR target does (cost occurs before effect) and by that point the ability wouldn't have an effect. If I'm wrong on this, please feel free to say so.
