Coming from the, "I can't buy my ***** for Legacy" perspective of things; I can see this slowly turning into the epitome of Wizards problems with MTG. Most people who want to play Modern or Legacy don't have the money to pay into it and with Wizards being so whatever about the printings of staple cards, I can see these formats becoming non-existent in a tournament setting. Sure Legacy would have a huge fan-base, but then Modern would probably just fade away. I can honestly say that after playing Legacy and arguing about Legacy and debating about wether or not I still wanted to play Legacy that if it came down to one of these formats surviving that I would just rather Modern survive. There is this ideal in Legacy that if you hadn't started playing since the first Ravnica block or some block prior or close to it that you shouldn't be playing Legacy at all. Like its our Eternal Format and if you didn't collect the right cards at the right times then get out! I don't think this sends the right message to what's OBVIOUSLY the right group to float the concepts of Legacy by... New, eager players. I hate that because someone doesn't have the right money to play Legacy that they have to be in a way forced to play something like Modern or EDH.. Don't get me wrong, EDH is fun, I'm a Jhoira man myself :p but Modern to me is like saying either you play Standard and potentially waste your money away or you play Legacy, sit back, relax, and let the carnage ensue.. P.s: Watch the Legacy ban-list in these coming years.. If what I predict is correct, were going to be in for one wild ride.

I don't quite know how Wotc is gonna make Modern work.. If Wizards just keeps doing.g what's it's been doing with Modern it's just going to force individuals to seek out other formats or just other games entirely.. I feel like Modern might fall apart and the general interest will fall to either Legacy or MTGO. Sadly, this is starting to seem like a question of wealth and with that there is a whole other box of questions to open up..

How would Intuition work as a 5th tutor in the deck? Apologies if this has already been addressed before..

With that exact meta, I think Imperial Painter would kill it Smile Very few duals, some fetches though. And of course...recruiters.

    Painter indeed or TES

TNN and Toxic Deluge were almost certainly designed with Eternal in mind. While we can't know for sure, we can infer from past experiences with the other sets they have made that release directly into the Eternal. They are free to push cards past the usual limits that Standard, and to a lesser extent Modern, imposes and that's how we get cards like Flusterstorm, Shardless Agent, Baleful Strix, etc. It's hard to make cards that are powerful enough to see play in Legacy and Vintage but not cause problems in Standard or Modern. The direct to Eternal releases give them a free avenue to do so and they have clearly taken advantage of the fact.

They design these types of cards with their hearts in the right place, the issue is that they don't really test Eternal to the level they do for other formats, if at all even. When they release cards that they designed for Eternal it's done so with the "hope this goes well, and worst case scenario we can ban it" mindset. That's how we got Mental Misstep; designed for Eternal but banned shortly thereafter.

    Correct. My apologies

Also, labyrinths got DnT written all over it
    Sb-wise.. Obviously

None of the decks I listed play Lilly?

I added a poll, really hard to decide between MUD or Dredge, I like them both a lot.

If I build Dredge it will probably be a temporary deck while I get together ANT or TES and then just use Dredge when the meta is favorable. I really like the "prison" idea of MUD though, seems like a blast to play and that it could be really good when I plan to face ANT 3/5 matches per fnm.

I'm pretty sure at one point MUD played lilies. Also, dredge and ANT are kind of similar (the flashback aspect of ANT) .. Currently, the meta HATES on graveyard.. So, in a way, neither deck is ideal. If your gonna spend roughly 200$ on dredge and either 200-300$ on TES or 900$ to 1000$ on ANT I would think it would be within your best interest to find one deck you really like and just use filler in it until you can purchase the pieces for it

The trouble with resilience is that it's difficult to measure, which is why we tested goldfish speed instead. There's no ambiguity with what constitutes goldfish speed, though even there we were willfully ignoring the fact that a turn 4 kill might involve triple turn 2 Cabal Therapy, which is pretty darn good.

We might presume to test resilience by running a similar goldfish on the draw against a turn 1 Deathrite Shaman, and that test would tell us something. I just don't think the very general 'resilience' would be sufficiently tested by that specific (albeit common) arrangement, and the situation is complicated by most of the best Tireless Dredge lists having been played before the advent of DRS. Alter the list, and we're in pet deck territory, as opposed to proven lists.

It's pretty tricky. Other tests for resilience might include a Spell Pierce, Daze, Force of Will, Thoughtseize/Duress/IoK, Chalice of the Void, Blood Moon, or Trinisphere (as my MUD deck gets even these uncomfortable 3-mana lock pieces down 1st turn with some regularity). Even Goblin Lackey, whom I haven't seen on a table in far too long.

I was about to write that testing all of these situations would be far too laborious, but actually since this is the Internet, we can all just take one of them and trot out 35 hands with each deck under consideration. I'd do my part.

    Any takers?

@Falamin, it might be that the list is more resilient, or it might be due to other causes. Perhaps you've gotten better at the deck, for instance maybe your Therapy calls are better with time. I know that my opponents, when they don't know what I'm playing yet, can't Force my 1st turn LEDs fast enough if all I've exposed is a Gemstone Mine. They figure I'm playing Storm.

Wait, wait... What?!? Forcing a Gemstone

Journey into Nyx is supposed to have all the non aura/creature enchantments in the block. If enchantress gets anything, It'll probably be there.

I did not know that. Thank you Smile
