Great this card doesn't reflect the old Kaervek the Merciless in any way.....well done wizards....
I mean his head is literally on fire and he uses fire magic. Yet no where on his card do you get the sense of that.
Does look like they made the card before thinkning who could it be and just slapped his name on it and went "Done, good job everyone!"

In other news, Ascendant Evincar is just better, cooler abilities and slightly bigger butt for more.
This set just looks so bland.

EDIT: I know its a core set but don't forget, the good Sorin, titans and Omniscience all came from coresets. Same one too I think.

I assume it belongs to either the Izzet or the Simic guild, more importantly why is it so bad? Yes its 2 mana for a 2/3 that gives card draw except you need to tape a 2 power creature to activate it! Smuggler's Copter was much better and in my eyes this is worse than Jhessian Thief as it doesn't have prowess. Actually this Submarine doesn't have any evasion which defeats the whole purpose of a sub. If it had islandwalk, skulk or even prowess I would have been fine with it. Instead it is a god awful rare. Also crew 2 for a 2/3 vehicle is over costed should have been crew 1.

I noticed while reading it, it says that promos will be given out in packs of four? I assume they mean like 4 card showdown packs. I am worried that means less promos given to each store as they aren't giving out promos but bunching them together in a pack.

I also noticed while reading it that slots 1&2 will be standard rare/mythic, slot 3 is a foil basic land and slot 4 is a chosen card in the same vein as fnm promos but they will have alternate frames. I did not read anything about alternate art, they did mention a curveball but that could mean anything and not alternate art.

I preferred it before where we got alternate art and they looked cool. Don't get me wrong full art Opt looks amazing but its murder counterpart is unwanted. I hopeful they will learn from Aether Revolt and make good fnm promos like fatal push.

We need a reverse Hull Breacher.

Stop draws for everyone (except the 1st) and give them treasures.

I don't like Commander decks being limited to one plane. I miss the diversity of seeing other planes we haven't revisited in a while get thematic cards in Commander, especially past legends without cards, or new versions of them.

I'm not really sure that this news has anything to do with me. I mean I'm not a Warhammer 40k fan, and I'm not enough of a LotR fan to buy into MtG LotR, so there is that. On the other hand who cares what other people play with, as long as it isn't in standard/historic/pioneer/modern. I guess my biggest concern is if they print something that F's up pauper, but after the last couple of years, that is always a concern. So: don't care one way or another.

....but, if they are taking requests for properties to have a crossover with: Big Trouble in Little China and/or The Princess Bride.

I suggest you look at the article and decklists from last year. Hazoret and Chandra in one, Triple Verderous Gearhulk in another, 4 Hear to Kiran in the Vehicle deck. This year is a joke by comparison.

Great card, awful rare.
should they keep it at uncommon, I'd be hyped. pulling this as rare is going to feel really bad.

...yeah no. this is a practice that needs to stop. if you have to upshift it to make it work in your set, don't include it in your set. instead design a different card.

thats a surprise its in ravnica, with the new Lich I guess you can get it right into play, however it seems like its a waste of a rare slot (was better as a uncommon).
