Likely none of them, since I have a strong preference for mono blue (especially Azami). But if I had to choose it would be either Jeleva or Deveri. Jeleva because she seems on par with Azami for having "that" factor. Deveri because of possibilities and because its a wizard. A BIRD wizard.

As for depth, it's just so dull. Every color pretty much ran the same setup, which was boring. Not to mention I got sick of seeing Voyage's End everywhere, never stopped me but it was still annoying. It always boiled down to swing, and if no response I'll kill it, the removal spells never surprised me any way. Have black and 4+ mana open, Lash of Whip, two blue, Voyage's end. Yawn. That and most of the cards in this set just bored me to tears. I ended up picking Agent of the Fates, and no deck could stand against me. Seems to me like getting a certain card just auto wins you the game (cough cough Stormbreath cough).

The experience was really dull for me personally. Control does not really exist unless you get lucky with black and red, the only counterspell is Dissolve (I don't count stymed hopes). So you either needed to get either aggro or tempo. Also if your opponent drops a bomb on the field there is nothing you can do about it, maybe bounce it but that's it. As for the "tricks" they were pretty painfully obvious. It was by far the most boring prerelease I ever attended, I expected far more.

I actually preferred the Ravinca releases.

Maelstrom Wanderer gets stupid really quickly. Usually doesn't run countermagic except for Cryptic Command, Glen Elendra Archmage, and Venser, Shaper Savant to minimize whiffing on the cascade triggers.

I promised myself I would never continue with him again, I broke too many things and shattered dreams.

i can see where you are coming from i suppose. i do enjoy me some spell countering Smile i am not sure what deck is better than a well tuned azami at least in 1v1. can you tell me what your friends are using? thats what im actually curious about. boil is practically being given away its so cheap.

actually, you know what? build a toshiro deck. picture your counterspells, but now they kill creatures instead and you have twice as many of them.

The mono-red deck is Zirelian, which cheats dragons into play, usually leading me to counter the general first. But it does run the red "counters" although no one has made a Boil resolve against me. Toshiro I was considering at some point and may do so.

But like I said, the deck does not even have the broken Wizards in it yet and it's pretty nasty (aka. No Teferi, Clique, Venser, or Snapcaster)

This card just enables my Azami deck soooooo much, so I'd have to say it's pretty awesome.

i don't know what durdley bad EDH decks your friends are playing, but i kill azami players on sight. its pretty much the poster child for oppressive combo decks (don't worry i haven't forgotten animar) and just seeing your general in your command zone before we start a game is enough incentive for me to go after you first, even if it means i don't win the game.

build a new deck that isn't blue. i know it might be hard, but just TRY to build a deck without some lame infinite combo that you win with every game. believe it or not you can win games without combos by reducing your opponents lifes to zero!

try building a different archtype. you seem like you don't care if people are really pissed off by the deck you are using so maybe kaalia or voltron is more your speed?

The thing is I LOVE blue too much not to use it. The trickery you get and manipulation are just too much fun really.

To put it one way, I've never really liked winning through combat damage. I want to try victory through any other method. Wizards are my favorite tribe because they get to mess around with a lot of the game's mechanics, and Azami felt like a natural fit for that deck.

But I just love it soooooo much. The card synergy and combos from each wizard are just too much fun, I have beaters in there that never get used. I guess I could just switch it a bit to be less like that. But I just love countering spells, ordering the library with Descendant of Soramaro, inifite with Captain of the Mists, and setting up infinite counters with Voidmage Prodigy, Sage of Fables, and Glen Elendra Archmage. Lets just say I find fun in a good match.

Maybe, but the deck is not even finished yet, and I am looking forward to it. But just for curiosity, which decks are stronger than Azami.

    Make new decks.

It's the most fun part of EDH.

And, just for fun, do something that's the complete opposite of your Azami deck. Like All-Creatures Ruric Thar or something.

I can tell you what will eventually happen to you if you only play Azami. Eventually, someone's going to play Boil against you, or something along those lines, and counter your counterspell with Pyroblast. And destroy all of your permanents with their general, Jaya Ballard. Trust me - you do NOT want your local meta to get to this state.

Believe me, someone tried that, and it ended up badly for them. As for new decks, I absolutely hate running red and green as colors with white as a close second. Every deck I run MUST have blue in the colors. Also I despise creature heavy decks, it's just so bleh to me.

I have come to this page to seek counsel for a certain deck of mine, well the only deck I have. So far I have been playing with Azami, Lady of Scrolls, which has been the ONLY general I really enjoy. The reason being she's from Kamigawa, her ability is great, her color(s), and not to mention she looks so cool.

But alas, the rest of my group does not share my sentiments. The deck I run is a tribal wizard deck that has ways to set up infinite counters, infinite mana, and of course a few things with Lab maniac. The end result is me just sitting by only countering threats until I get the pieces needed to lock down the board entirely. It has been the only EDH deck I have used that yielded great success, but not everyone else is thrilled about it. It's getting to the point where I don't really want to play EDH with them because of the outcome that will happen. I happy that it's working, even though it's missing better cards, but sometimes I feel like making Azami less....Azami.

    Thoughts?

    Religious? Well not exactly.

I'm slightly spiritual in that I do believe there is "something" out there that may be bigger than us, something that has a hand in fate (which I feel to be real based on MUCH personal experience).

I do like to take the good points that religious texts make in order to better myself as well as heed the wisdom of certain individuals.

Is there an afterlife? Well there's only one way to know for sure, and I'm in no hurry to do so. I feel like just trying the best I am able to become a better person and see what comes along the road. I guess I can find myself in the middle, if there something looking out for me? Maybe. Even if nothing happens, it does not mean I'll stop trying to better myself.

I just wish people would stop fighting over it though, all it does is just ruin lives. What good is that?

This thread is ridiculous. I have two kids and the idea that your world ends is false. I still draft once a week. I still play d&d once a week. My wife attends collage. I am going back to grad school. I work a full time job that I like. I live close to my friends and family who I still see.

If you want to know what being a parent really is. It is a challenge. If you cannot solve simple problems like time management or budgeting then don't have kids. If you cannot get a decent paying job don't have kids (We are a single income family and I am a 5 year teacher in texas). If you cannot explain to your kids in simple terms what you want and apply punishment in a calm and consistent manner your life will be more difficult.

The only thing I have given up is cursing. Seriously. I have a three week old infant and i sleep all night long.

Also nothing that has ever brought me happiness can compare to how my kid gets sad when i leave for work and how he runs to my car door when I come home. I recently went to my first GP. I made day 2. I finished 33rd. It was my best magic moment. At the end of the day I was missing my child. I called him between rounds and we sang childish t.v. show songs. (My kid loves music)

Trust me when i say the benefits of children are being criminally under played and the negatives are hyperbolic in magnitude.

    Edit:

The reason the benefits are being undersold is because I do not think you can really understand when someone says the greatest feeling I have ever had is..... that includes when I fill in that blank with my son running to my car so we can start playing. Also I get to relive my childhood through my child. When I crawl in a empty box and pretend it is a submarine it does not look weird. Or when we crawl under the covers and we call it a secret cave to hide from mommy it is not weird. I can have tickle fights again.

We are saying its a big decision, not to be taken lightly. Not that the world will end. The benefits also vary from person to person. Me personally I get exhausted whenever I have to babysit for my aunt and having kids around all the time would be a nuisance. I love kids, just not being around them all the time.

But this is not about me. This is about the OP and the possibility of this issue ending the marriage due to the contrasting feelings he and his wife have. I'll repeat, the best course of action would be marriage counseling. That individual has likely seen this issue come up more than I can count and will have far more experience to better aid you in this.

Judging by the responses still being posted I would recommend the OP go to marriage counseling. He would be better off seeing a neutral party who has more than likely had experience in dealing with couples who are conflicted over children. Also having a mediator like said individual would help the both of you keep calm and allow your points to come across clearly rather than ripping throats out (not saying that will happen but better to err on caution). But this is a serious situation you need to resolve, marriages break up because of this so you need to take action. I would honestly avoid this forum an seek the aid of a professional, marriage counselors have seen this many times and know how to handle it. It may cost a bit, but I think it a price worth paying to keep you both together yes?

I've always been a questioning sort, never truly content with the answers people gave me. I always wanted to know the truth, what lies beneath that which people glaze over. Unfortunately this tends to get my mind more and more roiled as I read more and more. I was not the type of person who could just let go and live in the present, I always want to know why, how, when, that sort of thing.

It makes the most sense to me. I think the same might apply to "shamanistic plants". People then might have believed these things caused divine visions, how else would they be seeing such crazy things. Of course now we know better and have a idea why such things happen, but that belief persists though.

Side note: Don't ingest these, it's a bad idea.
