Originally I made these just for fun, but now I'm getting a bit attached to them and was wondering what I could use to make these decks better. These are all casual as well!
It would be best if these could be budget as well!
I'm especially interested in cards from the Three Kingdoms, Khans of Tarkir, and the Kamigawa sets. I'm looking through a lot of cards but I feel like I can speed things up with advice from you guys!
Oh sorry I forgot to mention, those were just cards I planned on getting, they didn't have the "1x" there before but in order for me to show it in the forums I think I had to add the "1x" there
I haven't played MTG in a while and want to get back to it. I don't really play any specific format, so it's mostly just casual with friends. However I might participate in my local Friday Night Magic, and I think they do Standard. But since I haven't played in so long I'm really out of the loop. I dug up an old list of cards I wanted to use to build a new artifact deck with, but I've lost all my ideas on what to do with it. All I have now is just a list of cards that seemed cool and stuff :P, if there are any more cards you can suggest, that would be wonderful!
EDIT: The "1x" is just there to have the cards show up, this used to just be a list of cards I wanted to use and didn't have any quantitative value.
Could someone take a quick look and give me some sort of strategy I should go for, or some other cool artifact related cards I should try and get? Any help is appreciated, and thanks!
Also if there are any existing artifact decks worth looking into, please let me know!
Amazon only has like 1 dragon deck box and it's like a blue spirit dragon do you guys know where to find themed-deck boxes as well? Thanks!
There is a red and black colored deck box from Ultra Pro featuring Kolaghan (a dragon). It costs $2.99 USD on SCG, but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon as well.
My advice is to focus your spending on the boring stuff. Dragon decks need to be fast, they might seem like flying death lizards but if the game goes long enough they actually lose to quite a few other creature types, not to mention control decks. Your friend can and i'm sure will invest their own money over time getting better dragons, your gift can focus on the core that gets the dragons to work. I would also recommend keeping the deck mono red. Despite the new multi color dragons the best ones are still mono red imo. Plus, it will save lots of money since you can run just mountains.
4x dragonspeaker shaman This uncommon will likely cost you around $5 each. Still making a 6mana cost dragon cost only 4 is absolutely worth it.
4x dragonlord's servant dragonspeaker shaman's little brother. They work great together. 75cents each
4x seething song dragon in play sooner or just makes fire-breath bigger. 75cents each
4x geosurge you get the idea. 33cents each
3x dragon tempest the haste is the main use. The other ability is just a bonus. $1 each.
Now your at around $30 and don't even have any dragons yet. For the dragons themselves you aren't going to be getting the good ones. You can't afford them. He can replace these with expensive ones overtime if he wants. Example: I really like Balefire Dragon but at around $6 each there goes the rest of the $60 budget let alone the $40 one. Plus, Dragonmaster Outcast is $15 each or Stormbreath dragon who is also $15. So here is a list of CHEEP dragons. Dragons that aren't the best but at the same time are good enough to be worth playing in a budget deck
My pricing is using tcg player and splitting the difference between their low and mid prices. If you were wondering where the numbers were coming from.
Feel free to post decks here, kinda the point of the forums.
Thank you so much!! I'll arrange a deck soon I was hoping someone like you would post a buncha suggestion cards haha thanks again!
Now I gotta find another dragon themed deck-box, since the one I was originally gonna give him is blue and doesn't quite match red. Amazon only has like 1 dragon deck box and it's like a blue spirit dragon do you guys know where to find themed-deck boxes as well? Thanks!
Hmm, I never thought of it that way Maybe like around $0 (lol I wish) to $40 for the whole deck? Or maybe even to $60 if need be, but at least $17 is going towards the box and deck sleeves
@RabidVacin
Thank you very much! I'll give that a look!
Also, would you guys mind if I post a custom deck made here for critique? :3
I tried replying with a quote but the forums keep saying "non latin unicode characters are temporarily not allowed"
My friend's birthday is coming up and he really likes dragons and MTG. I want to buy him a dragon deck but not just some starter dragon deck. However, I've never really used dragons before so I don't know where to start, or what strategies to use with the said cards.
Also, even though he's my best friend I really can't spend too much on him because I have my own budget restraints so I can't buy him really expensive single cards that cost like 10 ea., unless it's essential for the deck.
My friends and I play casually and he built this mill deck that also utilizes cards such as Consuming Aberration (and other cards like that, that depend on X amount of cards in graveyards).
So I have this deck that I've built a long time ago. It started off as an Orzhov deck and gradually became the mess that it is, because it is my first deck ever. It can still win though, but my strategies are a bit messy, and will not overcome mill decks nor good competitive decks.
What I want to make though, is sort of a zombie deck. I want to be able to play from my graveyard, or activate abilities from the graveyard, etc. (basically undead). Is this a good idea to counter mill cards like his deck? Because he has little to no defense... If not, what is a good anti-mill deck?
Thank you! Oh and one more question, creatures that are morphed, what color are they? Are they colorless? And do they have any creature types at all? Thanks again!
If I have a face-down card such as Maelstrom Djinn and I also have a face-down card Vesuvan Shapeshifter, if I decide to flip the latter and have him transform into Maelstrom Djinn, what happens? Does he become a bland 2/2 creature because the Maelstrom Djinn is still face-down, or does he become a strong healthy Maelstrom Djinn?
Thanks guys!
Oh and to piggyback off of that, if I do the same thing for a "transformation" but instead of Vesuvan Shapeshifter, I use Sakashima's Student, the same thing occurs right?
It would be best if these could be budget as well!
