If I can just throw in my 2 cents, I agree Stoneforge should be unbanned. I also believe Jace, BBE, and GGT should be unbanned, so take my opinion how ever you will in relation to these cards as well. I believe these cards would help increase diversity in Modern along with helping to balance the colors in the format, which is the main reason for me wanting them unbanned.
Valid point. However, isn't there the possibility that people are always buying into decks for constructed tournaments? That would make updating the ban list pointless/bad business 3 out of 4 times they do it every year. Also, the Deathrite ban happened a week or two before a GP, so there is precedent.

@SteB: I wasn't suggesting Wizards would do that. I was saying that that outcome is a possible positive effect for the format if a significant meta shift happened.
Significant changes would shake up the meta though, causing more people to watch the GP to see what the changes are and what the format looks like now.
Well, I was hoping for something to change, anything really. Even just allowing GGT off would have been a nice gesture. Bleh. Well here's hoping the next update (will it be with Conspiracy or M15?) will allow for the format to become more balanced among the archetypes.
My main problem with the argument of price right now is Goyf. When is his price going to be "hit by a fist of an angry god"? Another reprint in a MM type set? What is stopping them from reprinting Jace in such a set? I feel that price is a very poor argument for the ban list, either for putting something on or allowing something off.
Yes, can we please start talking about cards that can be unbanned that would help out control? What are the current thoughts on Jace? Or Stoneforge? I know P&P can't come off with all the Twin currently, along with Storm apparently back from the dead. Top is banned for time reasons, so I doubt it'll come out. And I don't believe AV is safe to come off, but that is because I believe it could make Twin too consistent as well.
Hey guys, I know a lot of us are thinking BUG or Grixis currently, however I'm leaning more towards Esper. It gives us a really solid sideboard, including Rest in Piece vs URW/Jund and Stony Silence vs Affinity. It also allows us access to board wipes to help with the resurgence of Naya builds of Zoo. Along with that, it gives us a solid cast of Walkers, which I don't see anyone mentioning. I'm currently looking at Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. He makes 1/1 lifelinkers (which is relevant with our life loss from BB) and his emblems make BB a real problem. Does anyone have thoughts on this?
Honestly, I believe a Jace unban will happen eventually and is something to seriously consider right now with the current state of the format. 4 mana walkers are not something seeing serious play right now, with only Ajani being splashed into Jund and Elspeth seeing fringe play. While Jace is indeed stronger than both, I believe his impact on the format will be a lot less than what people are predicting. Also, the price argument is something I don't buy at all (Get it, buy? Price? I'll see myself out after this). Goyf keeps inching up after a reprint and is currently worth about 1.7x as much as Jace. Now sure, the price would spike after the unban, but Wizards can also print more in Mordern Masters 2. Along with the reprint policy, this will also bring traditional Control back into the format (hopefully) and allow more people to enjoy the format who enjoy piloting said decks. Note that I also believe BB and Nacatl should be unbanned, along with possibly BBE (with a DRS ban) to allow aggro another tool as well (if two cards came off the list for control, two should come off for aggro to allow it to be powered up evenly and I couldn't see a better option). I know it would just get thrown back into Jund, but I believe that the deck would become less popular and powerful because other decks would exist that could challenge it. Finally, I'm also in favor of GGT coming off, but that is hardly worth mentioning anymore.
When people originally told me there was a ban list for 1v1 Commander, I thought they were joking. Now that I see there is legitimately an attempt to make one, I feel...weird. This seems like something that doesn't need to exist with the creation of House Rules in regular Commander, and the list itself (including the new bans) seems wonky with some really weird bans and unbans. I'll just say that if someone else wants to give it a shot, go for it. It would at least be another interesting read. But just like before I saw this thread, I will not be following this list.
Bitterblossom was tested, I believe the results were posted in the official ban list discussion. You'll have to wait for someone with more knowledge on the subject than me to recount the specifics, but the people who tested it found it safe to come off.
