I finally switched to 2 Thalia HC from the 2 Splicers I used to play in my build. It performs really well and helps the E&T build to reach the "tax" effect it wasnt doing without that 2 Thalia. My list is performing fine, Im posting it.
-If we start replacing Leonin Arbiter, then Thalia becomes weaker and we replace her, and we replace Ghost Quarter, and then we change our curve and get Dark Confidant in and more removal since we cant do land destruction now and Thalia is not there, and then it becomes a worse Junk deck.
-Arbiters can be bad if we draw him too late, or the matchup doesnt care; But when it just wins by not allowing our opponent to get on tempo, is so great and worth it.
-There are some matchups that we would struggle against if Arbiter + GQ was not there: Tron, Valakut, combo decks out there (aka Ad Nauseam, Living End,...), Chord of Calling decks... and decks that carry a lot of fetchlands.
so maybe im underestimating ramp? ive been trying out coldsteel heart in my list, and playing games of skred red in between rounds of modern. against grixis control and jund, i find skred takes care of goyfs and tasigur nicely, and dark dwellers is a nice finisher.
it feels good drawing coldsteel heart off of scrying sheets and it powers up skred, but it comes in tapped. this deck occasionally gases out and maybe mindstone is the better option. don't like that it only taps for colorless but maybe that wont be a problem. sometimes boros reckoner is tricky to cast if you draw too many scrying sheets.
idk, i'll keep trying different things
Read the builds I have posted before.
-If you want a Reckoner Skred deck without ramping, then you gotta use magma jets and 2-3 Stormbreath (yes, they are still a little better than Dark-dwellers because: Haste is relevant, flying is relevant, prot. white is relevant, and monstruousity is relevant).
-If you want a Reckoner Skred deck with ramping, go into Simian Spirit Guide and Goblin Rabblemasters on the side.
Those are the builds that works with Boros Reckoner.
Yep, same thoughts as you, currently I run the Reckoner list without SSG and got 3-0-1 last FNM. But in a big tour, I do think that Eternal Skred (hey, the name is cool) will get overall more wins.
I think that those 2 builds are the most powerful Skred Red builds atm. And like I said, I think we should focus on one to improve and try to get to tier lists (we are getting new toys, we should improve and get better).
Btw, against bogles, 2 Spellskite on SB. It helps against bogles, burn, scapeshift and protects our 'walkers.
Pia and Kiran Nalaar roles:
-Chump blockers.
-Kill little creatutes sacrificing artifacts.
-Hit to the face with its fliers.
-Make the opponent to waste removal.
I have won games only by casting P&KN, combining them with 1 bolt/skred and sacrificing artifacts/blocking to clear the board, and then casting another P&KN to have 3 creatures on board, extra 2-damage removal, and fly hitters. Is a typical "jund" value card, it makes 2 for 1 easy, and 3 for 1 if you play it in the right time.
Well, Im buying the cards for my Skred deck since months and Im finally close to have my full deck My first "competitive" deck. While I have been playing MTG since 9-10 years, I always played with proxies. I only need the 3 Moons and a few cards for the SB. I do think that my build is fine and solid, but I have a few doubts, hope you can help me and give your thoughts about the build, its high $$$ cost for me.
As you can see, there are 59 cards on the main and 11 on the SB. So, about the main: I play mind stones over SSG since, in this build, the only good SSG would do over stones is T2 Blood Moon. Is powerful, but not enough to go over the mind stones (at least for my build, I repeat), because of: T4 Koth / P&KN, sacrifice for P&KN, casting batterskull soon, enough mana for return-cast batterskull... a lot of uses for this build. About the card that should be number 60, I have in mind Chandra, Flamecaller or the 4th Reckoner. Chandra can act as a finisher and as a sweeper, can end the games quick and I have 4 mind stones for the cast. But the 4th Boros reckoner would make the deck less CC intensive and more interactive with skred and volcanic fallout.
About the sideboard: there are left the cards for the combo/tron matchup. Im thinking about 3 Molten Rain 1 Crumble to dust; Rabblemaster can work too, but I think it would be better for SSG builds. Anyone has tested it on a non-SSG build? There has to be out there a 2CC red creature that can be fast enough to put a lot of pressure on the combo/tron matchup.
Been seeing lots of lists lately running magma jet, and I must say I am very interested. scry 2 would be so godly helpful in this deck. Your choice of batterskull over wurmcoil is pretty interesting, until I thought about a 5/5 thopter getting in for some damage. Sounds appealing. Also to comment on the fact that you have no mindstones. Understandable but i feel like they are sooooo important for turn 3 koths and turn 3 pias. I really miss having mb relics. But having a hard time deciding between magma jets and relics.
Magma Jet workes so much better for me than mind stones: for killing creatures and for reaching the extra burn that I need to close the game, AND for drawing just what I need.
Why Mind stones? If you not run many 5cc/6cc, I prefer to draw a burn spell that can scry 2 rather than a mind stone. Sure, you can play Koth and Pia on turn 3 but... why? you want to launch a sweeper on turn 3, then Koth next turn. If you hurry to cast Koth, he's in danger. As a control deck, you want to play your turn 3 blood moon/sweeper/bolts, etc, to control the board rather than go on a hurry, BUT, if the matchup is combo/burn/whatever that makes you want to go fast, well... still I prefer to launch magma jet to the face and scry 2 to search a threat.
And about Batterskull, its CC is lower and have vigilance, which is good, very good in this build. And, well, our creatures are too weak to PtE, wurmcoil makes it worse.
PD: I did an incredible INCREDIBLE match, that was insane: opponent (WB tokens) at 70+ life, planeswalker sorin on his side, 3 +1/+1 to all his tokens enchants (each token was 4/4, lol), 4 tokens and the lifelink and deathtouch land. I were at 6 life with a 5 counters koth and 1 thopter. I get emblem and kill 2 tokens, block with 1 and Im at 2 life. Next turn I kill the other 2 tokens, next turn he does nothing, I do magma jet and scry a batterskull, then I started to hit each turn 4/4 lifelink and drawing more and more mountains. Win. Epic emblem is epic. That was the 3rd round, won 2-1.
