Teia Rabishu posted a message on 702.121a You can choose to tap zero creatures to crew a VehicleThis is the Rulings forum, not the "debate whether zero creatures can have power 1 or greater" forum. A vehicle can only be crewed if the sum of the tapped creature or creatures' power meets or exceeds the crew cost. Anything else is baseless nonsense that has no place in this forum. peteroupc posted a message on Dominating Licid + illusionist's bracersIn this case the ability of Illusionist's Bracers will trigger and when it resolves, Dominating Licid's ability is copied. When the copy resolves, Dominating Licid loses the activated ability (but this doesn't prevent the other ability still on the stack from resolving [C.R. 112.7a]), becomes an Aura, and is attached to the targeted creature. But since Dominating Licid isn't a creature anymore (C.R. 205.1a), and because an Equipment "can't legally be attached to an object that isn't a creature" (C.R. 301.5), Illusionist's Bracers will fall off as a state-based action (C.R. 704.5n). When the original resolves, Dominating Licid again loses the ability, again becomes an Aura, and is attached to the creature targeted by that ability (which may be different from the copy's target). Note that a player can't gain control of two creatures this way (if a different creature was targeted for the copy than for the original), since Dominating Licid will attach to one creature, then another, and the effect setting the creature's controller applies only to the creature it enchants (C.R. 611.3a). Moreover, to completely end the effects of Dominating Licid's abilities, UU must be paid, since the two effects overlap.Posted in: Magic Rulings
EDIT (Sep. 28): One rule was renumbered with Ixalan. -

MadMageQc posted a message on Double-face cards in Tournament settingAs long as the extra copy outside of your deck is in different sleeves, that is perfectly fine. You're allowed any number of double-faced cards in your deck box and for in-game use if they correspond to cards played in your deck and/or sideboard and they're sleeved differently than your deck. From the Infraction Procedure Guide :Posted in: Magic RulingsIf there are extra cards stored with the sideboard that could conceivably be played in the player’s deck, they will be considered a part of the sideboard unless they are:
•Promotional cards that have been handed out as part of the tournament.
•Double-faced cards represented by checklist cards in the deck.
•Double-faced cards being used to represent the ‘night’ side of cards in the deck. These cards must not be sleeved in the same way as cards in the main deck and/or sideboard. -

chaikov posted a message on destroying a damage enhancer negates the enhancement?@Ray & Otto: Please take a close look at the original OP's question; it is a very basic, beginner's question.Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
Not only has it been correctly answered by Thought Criminal, it also is obvious that this techno-babble of yours is way beyond the OP's grasp.
Thus useless, and annoying. Please stop. Now.
No, no, don't respond, Just remain gone, please. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

1. Your opponent has two openings to activate ooze and take away delirium.
First is after Ishkanah is cast, while it is still a spell on the stack. When the spider resolves the trigger condition will not be true and there will be no trigger to create spiders.
Second is after Ishkanah enters play and triggers, but before the trigger resolves. Delirium must be true both for the trigger to go off and also when the trigger resolves.
2. Ishkanah and the 3 spiders created by the trigger are each a creature and they each will trigger Path to Discovery.

Yixid's ability-removing effect and Snapcaster's ability-adding effect are both applied in layer 6. Since they are in the same layer, they are applied in time-stamp order. Abilities inherent to the card are first removed by jailer then, with jailer already in play, snapcaster adds an ability.
If snapcaster was played first to give a card flashback and jailer came into play after, the ability would be removed.
613.1a Layer 1: Copy effects are applied. See rule 706, “Copying Objects.”
613.1b Layer 2: Control-changing effects are applied.
613.1c Layer 3: Text-changing effects are applied. See rule 612, “Text-Changing Effects.”
613.1d Layer 4: Type-changing effects are applied. These include effects that change an object’s card type, subtype, and/or supertype.
613.1e Layer 5: Color-changing effects are applied.
613.1f Layer 6: Ability-adding effects, ability-removing effects, and effects that say an object can’t have an ability are applied.
613.1g Layer 7: Power- and/or toughness-changing effects are applied.

603.3b If multiple abilities have triggered since the last time a player received priority, each player, in APNAP order, puts triggered abilities he or she controls on the stack in any order he or she chooses. (See rule 101.4.) Then the game once again checks for and resolves state-based actions until none are performed, then abilities that triggered during this process go on the stack. This process repeats until no new state-based actions are performed and no abilities trigger. Then the appropriate player gets priority.
101.4. If multiple players would make choices and/or take actions at the same time, the active player (the player whose turn it is) makes any choices required, then the next player in turn order (usually the player seated to the active player’s left) makes any choices required, followed by the remaining nonactive players in turn order. Then the actions happen simultaneously. This rule is often referred to as the “Active Player, Nonactive Player (APNAP) order” rule.
