Help me make sure bolster works the way I think it does, here's a scenario I envision coming up somewhat often if we play anafenza:
I have Anafenza a aether vial at 3, 4 lands, and a restoration angel and flickerwisp in hand. At eot I want to exile 2 of my opponent's permanents until the next eot, a pretty common play.
1. Vial in flickerwisp, put bolster trigger on stack, then wisp trigger.
2. Resolve wisp trigger
3. Cast restoration angel, put bolster trigger on stack, then angel trigger
4. Resolve angel trigger targeting flickerwisp
5. Flickerwisp etb, put bolster trigger on stack, then wisp trigger
6. Resolve wisp trigger, then I get 3 bolsters, probably 2 on flickerwisp and one on anafenza
Does that work the way I think it does?
Yes Things on the stack don't resolve until both players pass priority. It does this for each item on the stack it is just that generally you don't have a reason to cast a spell after letting others on the stack resolve. This is different from say yugioh were once both players stop or are unable to put things everything on their stack(they call it a chain) resolves without them being able to do anything.
If this would be how Anafenza works, then I am officially convinced because that would be excellent given our effects. It could make a Familiar a 3/3 simply by playing a creature and then vialing in a creature in response, putting 2 +1/+1 counters on the stack.
Anafenza does work this way, although each Bolster trigger resolves independently. Someone with a better understanding of the rules may have to chime in here, but I think you choose the creature (to get the +1/+1 counter) upon resolution of the ability. In other words, there's no targeting, and there's no priority exchange between the "choosing of the creature" and the "addition of the counter". As a result, every time you resolve multiple Bolster triggers, you have to re-check the toughness of all of your creatures.
So if you have a Judge's Familiar, Anafenza, and a Flickerwisp on the battlefield, you can first choose between the Familiar and the Flickerwisp. However, if you get a second trigger, you must choose the OTHER one, because you only have one creature with one toughness.
Thanks. That actually makes perfect sense since bolster doesn't target. My worry about anafenza, kin-tree spirit is that often the +1/+1 counters are going to end up on things I want to flicker, like blade splicer or flickerwisp so my question was looking for a way around that. I think there's a decent chance she's good enough and the foil is going to look awesome.

Ditto IzzetDeeds on the sword choices. I don't think I'd change a card in the main deck. I think the sideboard is a pile. I liked the rest in peace and I like the 3 stony silence from playtesting. Other than that I'm not confident with any of the choices and I didn't do enough testing to be confident in my sideboard strategy. I don't think pod is all that good a matchup. The mana denial plan doesn't do much and the hate often isn't enough. Of course as you said an adequate hand is necessary and I had major problems with that. In the losses to rock and storm I mulled 4/5 games, twice to 5.
Revoke existence would have been better as disenchant. Mark of asylum was good. Pretty disappointing to not make day 2. I felt pretty unlucky to lose to storm. I think it's better to be doing something more powerful and proactive in modern right now, but I had fun with the deck and it fits my playstyle. Sidenote: I had a grand total of 2 turn 1 aether vial both in the tarmo-twin match.
Popping into this thread to share a random finding of mine.
It's not really exclusively mono black devotion, but if you want to splash green, it turns out that turns out bloodghast -> geralf's messenger -> murderous redcap -> gray merchant is a really strong birthing pod chain without any cards that are individually "bad".
It also allows you to play deathrite shaman & birds of paradise to speed your overall gameplan up a bit. It turns more into a birthing pod deck, but hey, gray merchant pod is pretty powerful, and pretty lethal overall.
Bull****. Altering cards falls under the Fair Use Doctrine, not to mention the 1st Amendment, and any rights that they have to the physical cards themselves end at the retail store front when a person buys the card.
This is classical fascism and people need to stand up to it or the government-sponsored encroachment of corporations into the lives of citizens won't stop.
I agree it's wrong, but wizards isn't and won't be taking legal action against alterers. Ultimately ebay has the right to decide what products are on its site and wizards has the right to decide what it allows at its tournaments.
The community's recourse is to tell wizards and ebay not to be dicks or to sell alterations on a different site.
I recommend anyone who cares write Wizards an email to this effect:
Hello,
