I play it if the deck is planning to draw a lot of cards and wants access to a lot of options, typically counters and removal. For other decks it's literally I can play every card next turn but if I discard 5+ cards I will lose a lot of potential. Other decks play a bunch of draw but typically only use it to refill so in those I am starting to not play it.
Am I right in assuming that this will be a house in EDH? Hit the most vulnerable opponent, then destroy the most troublesome planeswalker and artifact on the battlefield?
No idea why people say this wont see play, it literally fits into an already existing deck with Bedlam Reveler + Hollow one + Faithless looting.
You can either go the Death's Shadow way, or maybe the flashback way.
This isnt card disadvantage, because this isnt bazaar. This is card parity with the upside of card quality filtering.
Its like saying Faithless looting is card disadvantage, and therefor a bad card.
This probably won't see play because of Seasoned Pyromancer. Sure, this has a better single body but the pyromancer retains parity and has late game potential. Any deck playing looting cards is already playing red so there is almost no reason to go into a third color just to play this strictly worse card imo. There is also that card from Hour of Devastation that has the same loot affect as pyromancer and it hasn't seen play yet.
Card was dumb busted in the two decks I've played with it so far. (aminatou and oloro) It could get banned once people start to really use it. So powerful.
It needs to be stated that teferi into chain veil. Ramos is probably an autoinclude if that wasn't obvious. All I can think of is using her to ramp before starting to get actually strong pieces.
It's probably more relevant in vintage or legacy than it is in modern. Certainly there are decks that this can work against but they are far outweighed by other decks atm.
Seems like a very easy way to hose pw commanders.
