I like Shaman of the Great Hunt: it may cost just for a drawing engine and dealing combat damage also with a 1/1 creature may be funny if Hardened Scales is in play.
Lodestone Golem is a creature, so it may always fit in an Animar deck. But I personally prefere a more aggro-like build, so it doesn't fit quite good for a 4 cc.
Did someone of you ever try the Renegade Krasis?
It seems interesting because it pumps Animar as it evolves, but due to the two specific mana cost (and the 3/2 starting stats) it may be too slow...
I was thinking about these two cards for the Animar deck:
- Joiner Adept (mana fixer, which isn't so bad in a three colored deck);
- Elvish Harbinger (bigger BoP, elf tutor).
Np Jaxck, and thank you for the answer.
I was looking for cards to enable a turn two Animar. Arbor Elf is very good for that and I agree that later in the game is very useful with Breeding Pool and Stomping Ground, but I was trying with Wild Cantor: it can enable a turn 2 Animar also with basic lands (e.g. with 1 Mountain and 1 Island).
What do you think about this card?
I see that the bad thing of Wild Cantor is that it has to be sacrified, so it isn't so good with Cloudstone Curio or Birthing Pod, but if its main purpose is Animar acceleration it shouldn't be so bad...
Hmmm what is your opinion on Oran-rief, the Vastwood. I'm thinking with Hardened Scales its more tempting than ever.
I think that it could be a nice addition to give a +2 (with Hardened Scales) to green fatties (Terastodon, Vorinclex, voice of hunger etc.), but I fear that it would not be used often on Animar:
you should have Hardened Scales into play, GUR mana to cast it andOran-rief, the Vastwood to have Animar starting with 2 counters on it.
It could help if youy had to play Animar from the commander zone on the second time, or third: it would come back with a +2 on it.
But I don't personally know if I would use one slot for Oran-rief, the Vastwood to get it in combo with Hardened Scales, which I could not search for in any way since it's an enchantment.
Hi Jaxck,
I see that Arbor Elf is in your decklist.
I think that its main purpose is to get a round 2 Animar into battlefield.
Am I right?
In that case, did it happen almost frequently or was it a remote possibility (e.g. it happened just once in 20 matches in which you played it your first turn)?
I'm asking this to you because I think that it could be an interesting card, but I'd like to understand well its place into the deck before trying it.
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Well, Volango and Bismuth Von Pherson: I see your point.
I admit that I haven't thought about many "advanced" builds of an Animar deck.
Then let me say that I'm sorry for having been too enthusiastic for a piece of toilet paper.
(just joking, but next time I'll be more cautious about using the term "staple" )

Good question. The answer is here: Possibility Storm question (please note that the first answer is wrong)
The RG dragon is Atarka, World Render.
Maybe not so bad, but not a staple IMHO.
P.S.: I think that I will try also Temur Sabertooth

Well, in some particular situation you could also search for Reclamation Sage, Farhaven Elf or Fierce Empath...

Thank you for the idea, but... would you use a slot in an Animar deck for Dizzy Spell?

Surrak Dragonclaw can’t be countered.
Creature spells you control can’t be countered.
Other creatures you control have trample.

Gentlemen, do we have a staple?
(edit: fixed img link)
Do you use any/some/none of them?
