I have been tempted to bite the bullet on that card for SO LONG due to wanting to have Legacy Doomsday be optimized and this should help stymy its price hikes.

anyway, rift keeps lands in play uphaeval bounces everything. please read the cards and think what game actions can players take following casting each one of them.
- lands with indestructible (bridges, darksteel forge)
- lands doing sth from gy (drownyard temple only i think)
- delve spells to convert destroyed lands into mana
- propaganda effects (propaganda, koskun falls, kazuul)
- crucible of worlds
- artifact lands with hurkyls recall effects
- uh... darksteel garrison
- shifting manabase balance from lands to manarocks
- jesters cap etc to preemptively remove ld from op deck
but really, the best would be to just counter ld, you should use couters in those colors anyway
With the ways between planes left open, there's going to be an awful lot more traffic through the Blind Eternities. People are bound to bring some very interesting things with them on their travels.
No one else curious about this? I designed effectively transforming tokens for customs cards once, but used a different wording since I was not too happy about the wordiness of defining a front face and a back face in rues text. So I wonder whether the token will e created by a really wordy card or if it's going to be a pre-defined token like Treasure and Food.
Most likely it's just something like "a 2/2 Citizen creature token with 'Sacrifice an artifact: Transform this creature into a 4/4 Phyrexian artifact creature token.'"
dfc tokens would require rules change, no? under current rules tokens are not cards and comprules transform definition requires "cards" to work. but based on past weasel-wording by maro this could as well not be even remotely connected to actual transform mechanic but something completely different.
I hope that planar travel for nonwalkers pans out so Fblthp can truly become the Wally of MtG.
I’m not sure how much travel there will be I thought that the team up cards would at least be more of a mix and match kinda thing but so far they’re just pairs from the same plane hopefully they’ll do more mix characters that we haven’t seen.
I think they mean specifically post-MOM. There are rumblings that "Magic will change forever" thing will be that anyone can move between planes at some point.
I do think all the team-ups in MOM itself will be from the same plane. Fblthp and Borborygmos both live on Ravnica so this would be perfect!
new card (super)type is coming (see atraxa's reminder). if it goes through standard set then those thongs will be legal everywhere.

As a casual modern player, can I ask you what changed in 2019 exactly that make you so upset?
latest modern masters. the format is currently based around free spells, nearly free spells and ragavan. meta is very hostile to anything less than the most afficient decks. being on the draw puts you far behind if only because of the number of times this means facing t1 monke.
this also made prices of cards from mm to be prohibitively high so financial barrier to entry is impossible for new players to overcome.
sadly reprinting ragavan in mom seems to indicate this will not change anytime soon.

- numbering is weird, they are numbered 0004-0006 but are named Secret Lair Play and Secret Lair Prize, what even are those, did i miss some announcement?
- good work on the art, but did artists stopped having actual names?
A lot of artists nowadays find their footing in social media, where they use pseudonyms. Once they've built up their brand, that pseudonym essentially also becomes a part of their brand. It's a lot easier for people to find their work online if the artist credit says "Kelogsloops" or "DZO", because there's guaranteed to be fewer of those out there than, say, John Smith.
Fair. Although I have some doubts about discoverability of someone using three letter acronym as their handle.
I would appreciate if we got more of those new artists in mtg not just as one-time jobs on promos. Artstyles got homogeneous to the point cards are very forgettable. (more Wylie Beckert please)

Maye I'm missing something but why are people saying they'd like all cards to be borderless like Ugin? All three are full-art borderless treatments. Just that the text boxes for the colored cards look somewhat different. Is that all?
I thought that too, until I looked more closely halfway down the textboxes on Unholy Heat and Eldritch Evolution. They both have a little black border starting ~75% of the way down. I really didn't notice it until it was pointed out.
Those blend in on those particular cards well but on some others they look weird. It pains me that they seem to try to artificially increasing uniqueness of Ugin while in reality all cards could have gotten the same treatment.

the ban list for commander should be at least 70% bigger.
Oh yeah, because what casual players love is having to stsy MORE involved and aware and have to see if groups will let them play a card.
They were very clear from the start, if they ever approach 100 banned cards, the format will basically be dead, so lowering the acceptable power level is not the goal.
they could get irrelevant cards off the list to make it smaller. a few of those is still there. if you exclude illegal cards, dexterity cards etc the list is quite short now. it would not hurt to think about updating it to match format philosophy statement.
also dockside is not showing up in casual games not because its not broken but due to price. same as crypt etc.
