1 Anger of the Gods
3 Chalice of the Void
1 Crumble to Dust
2 Destructive Revelry
2 Dispel
1 Gaea's Revenge
3 Obstinate Baloth
1 Slaughter Games
1 Surrak Dragonclaw
At my shop there are 2 Burn players and a Zoo player and I'm bringing in Chalice and Baloth against them both. I run 1 Anger of the Gods main as well but I consider the 2nd vs Zoo.
Vs infect chalice comes in obviously and dispel as well. Though I haven't seen an Infect player at my shop yet (only been playing here a short time). Same goes for Storm...haven't seen a Storm player but chalice and slaughter games are yummy.
Granted, I am fairly new to the deck but I'm 2-0 in matches against Eldrazi (BW and Bant).
I run BTL w black splash and I have a Maelstrom Pulse main which is pretty solid in that matchup. Each match was pretty close but using Cryptic as a fog effect can help buy time to make your land drops and combo off.
So if you've drawn more mountains than normal--is the plan to sac 6+ lands and then keep X mountains in play? So...Sac 6 leave a mountain in play for 15 damage? Damage only for 5 new mountains correct? Sac 6 and leave 2 in play ...still 15 damage?
Is there a chart somewhere that lists all these sac and damage options?
First tournament in the books w RUGb BTL. Went 3-0-1 (ID).
I run 2 Bolt/2 Electro/1 Izzet Charm/1 Hunting Wilds and a Maelstrom Pulse Main.
R1 (2-0) vs Living End
G1: Nothing special. I get combo before he can.
G2: He Slaughter Games my Scapeshift and I slaughter games his Living Ends. I keep his creatures in check w multiple Cryptics as I find more and more mountains with Valakut in play.
R2 (2-1) vs BW Eldrazi Taxes
G1: I get stuck on 4 lands for multiple turns and he beats me down.
G2: Anger of the Gods for the win. Simple win here.
G3: He mulls to 5 and doesn't have much action before I get him. Have no clue what he boarded in against me...
R3 (2-0) vs Burn
G1: I had enough ramp and a timely counter to make it through this one...barely.
G2: I BTL for Baloth T5, then draw another Baloth next turn. I go for kill and he casts Angel's Grace!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt??? I was at 6 life and he couldn't get me so creature beats next turn.
R4 ID
I could've gone for glory but was real tired and the guy was on eggs and i didn't want to sit through that crap.
Loved the list. I know there's been a debate about Bolt recently and i had one at important times against BW and Burn so it felt good for me last night. But it is a card I have a close eye on to see if I really need it or not. Pulse in the main is dope...
I'm making my way through this forum and I apologize if this has been discussed before...
Would Loxodon Smiter be a better option in our board for the control match up? Baloth gains us life but the not being countered thing seems pretty sweet...and it is 3 mana to cast.
Legacy is a more expensive buy in but I think it's a safer buy in as the ban hammer doesn't come nearly as often compared to Modern.
If you shop smart and patiently you can trim costs...I prob paid $1,200 out of pocket for ANT about a year ago. Getting legacy staples can port you into other decks (Forces, Wastelands, Duals, etc)as well.
To me it's so so so so much more worth it to play legacy. What it comes down to is where you live and if legacy is offered. I just moved to an area of GA where the local offerings aren't great so I have to drive 1-2 hours one way to play once or twice a month...so I finally bought into MTGO (ANT on MTGO is $500...there are Standard decks that are more lol) to supplement my in person play.
Legacy is more expensive on the whole (that could change w the rate Modern prices are going) but I think your money is better spent on legacy staples than modern...
I've been using KMC Perfect Fit and KMC Hyper Matte for about a year and a half now. I wanted to try the Dragon Shield Matte's and I absolutely love them. I didn't have any issue double sleeving w/ perfect fits either--they do catch a little more air I think but I always put a stack of books on em overnight and by the morning they're good to go. They feel great and shuffle even better than the Hypers in my opinion. I use the Blue and don't see myself using anything else for a while.
I, however, will say that I'd love some way where it's not okay for an Eggs player to take an 18 minute turn (he was playing at a good pace, he wasn't "slow playing"--the deck just takes forever to win). In 3 games we, of course, went to time and he used about 95% of the round time --no joke.
Not sure how this is okay--let alone fair.
MTGO has equal time for both players. Something CLOSE to this would be nice in extreme cases where one player is really hogging the clock.

At my LGS, I wouldn't run it main but I do have 3 in the SB.
But as far as an SCG or Grand Prix event...it may not be a bad idea because you will likely see more Burn and Infect than normal...

Thanks a lot man!
*long distance high five*

Has anybody experimented with a single Eternal Witness main? Seems sweet to buy back a countered shift or BTL. Even get Cryptic Back...
I'm trying to figure out what to cut in order to fit a Inferno Titan or Surrak ...
1 Crumble to Dust
2 Dispel
1 Melira
4 Baloth
2 Pyroclasm
1 Shatterstorm
1 Slaughter Games
2 Sultai Charm
1 Terminate
Right now I'm thinking the 4th Baloth should be cut ...maybe even the Crumble to Dust...
Any opinions on Titan vs Surrak?
