Well yeah considering that fact that I don't want to pay 120$ for a playset of this nerfed thundermaw hellkite, I need to find myself a decent 5cmc slot for my R/G deck.
I'm building R/G aggro and while Hypersonic Dragon would be viable if I was running blue. My only means of generating that mana would be through Sylvan Caryatid.
This is for the new R/G Aggro which is already running Ember Swallower. The problem with Chandra's Pheonix is that it doesn't quite fit in without any real burn spells.
What are some good Standard alternatives to Stormbreath Dragon? The only halfway decent cards look to be Chaos Imps or Hellkite Tyrant. Theres also Shivan Dragon which is kinda vanilla. Unfortunately none of these have haste as well.
Over the past week since release its price has skyrocketed to $30 each. Now that it looks to become the new Thundermaw Hellkite of the format will prices continue to go up or would it be safe to wait a couple weeks and buy them when/if they go down?
Otherwise you will run out of cards before your opponents run out of threats.
I guess Jace AoT is card advantage... but you have to tap out for him.
I'd replace rift with Ratchet bomb... putting rift in the side for enchantments (like gods and assemble the legion).. I really like the bomb... for tokens... and all 1 and 2 drop decks.... against control it is nice against Detention sphere and Ashiok.
I'd drop the aberration sadly.. I'd want as few creatures as possible.

How much better is Inspiration compared to Divination. Is the 1 extra mana worth instant speed? Also, not sure if I should be running 2x Aetherling mainboard or add another Ratchet Bomb.
I've been tweaking my U/B Control deck for the past couple weeks and now with "Theros" I had to make bigger changes. My original design focused more on milling, but after various match-ups against Aggro its just too slow. Heres my revised decklists.
Any suggestions on how else I can make this decklist better? If possible I'd like to find a way to keep Consuming Aberration, but I've had little luck getting him out most of the time.
I've tried a lot of Dimir Charm, but just never got into liking it. The times when I needed it most, in the early game, it missed too often as a kill spell. The times I used it late game, to set up their topcard, I never got the oomf out of the effect that I was hoping for.
That said, when I get to kill their Trostani, Selesnya's Voice with the charm, that was my happiest moment with it.

I feel like Dimir Charm has more limitations compared to some of the other control charms. While its effects can be useful, it's not always dependable.
I've found that Ashiok isn't a very good mill PW. You already have Jace in there, and he does a much better job of it.
If you want to do something similar to what he does, you're probably better off adding some R mana sources to be able to occasionally cast the Entering half of Breaking // Entering.

I've been wanting to include some Blood Crypt, but I wasn't sure if it was really worth it since Breaking // Entering was such a high cost to fuse. Would swapping out 2x Swamp for 2x Blood Crypt be enough or would it be better to go 3/4?

A "Gruul Aggro" deck with lots of cheap creatures to quickly rush the board. Fast creatures combo with Purphoros, God of the Forge to repeatedly burn your opponent. My main problem was choosing a suitable replacement for the old Flinthoof Boar and went with Satyr Hedonist to help ramp an overloaded Mizzium Mortars if needed.
I think I've come up with a pretty well rounded sideboard, but I'd prefer a something better than Armed // Dangerous.
A "Dimir control" deck modeled after the standard "Golgari Control". I wanted to fit in new cards like Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Omenspeaker for scry, but I feel that it still needs some tweaking. Any recommendations?
I'm open to the idea of B/R vs U/B, but I'll leave the choice up to personal preference. I'm not used to running a deck with so many 2 ofs, but it looks to be shaping up nicely. Hopefully it fairs well in testing after release.

Read the Bones has basically the same effect as Pilfered Plans, but I prefer the extra milling over scry.

I don't care much for Pharika's Cure, but Dimir Charm might be useful in the sideboard.
