Upon further consideration, I think having one banlist for 1v1 and multiplayer is a mistake. I don't think having a separate list for MTGO is a bad idea, but trying to make it pull double duty isn't very good.
Also, PSA: It's not a 75% chance to do anything. It is 50% each time you try. Failing the first flip will not increase or decrease your odds of succeeding with your next one. Each fair flip will give you a 50% chance of success.
It's 50% the first time, and 50% the second time, giving it overall a 75% chance to activate within the first two turns of playing it. (So a 75% chance to activate by the time a Nevy Disk would have activated)
The way his effect rewards my opponents for their own Phyrexian Arenas, Painlands, Shock lands, fetches, etc. means I would often rather run a vanilla legend than him.
I think Marath is in a very interesting, if not awkward position. It's a check to aggro decks, but Marath decks are aggro in itself right? What do you guys think? Given all that, I think he should be unbanned and given a chance.
He seems more like a "wait and see" unban. Leave him banned to start, evaluate him in a few months based on where the format goes.
To say that this change will be good for creativity is to know nothing about the game.
Now people cannot afford to build creative decks or commanders, you have to pick a great general and play for turn 1 to 5.
Recipe: Take a 1 mana cost commander, build a that that can follow up for turn 2 3 and 4 and be happy to play "modern" singleton.
(Modern = playing to finish or at least decide the game by the turn 3 and 4.)
Creativity is not the opposite of competitive viability. You can have both, but the creativity will take a different form. There are some amazingly creative modern decks out there.
Anyone trying to claim Amulet Bloom wasn't a creative Modern deck can fight me.
That said, I do understand the complaint, faster formats do stop slower decks from competing. . .
But if your deck can't survive pressure and has to get to turn 7 to have a chance at winning, is it a deck the format benefits from?
(Not that I expect anyone here to get that reference.)
I'll fade away and classify myself as obsolete
On topic, I don't think Price will be a huge enough issue to ban it immediately, and I doubt it will even be enough to be banned later, but we'll see I suppose.
I was trying to work in something about Skarsgård but I got nothing
Standard is the most-played Constructed format. It's designed as an entry point for players who wish to play Constructed Magic. Through market research and social media, we learned that many of the players who were interested in playing Standard felt it was something beyond their reach. We had to find ways to address this."
I don't exactly understand that part. How will expeditions make standard more accessible? Let's say that the Mechas become standard staples of tier-1, I don't see how the odds of getting one alternate in every other 144 booster will lower the price of the regular ones? Yes, you could sell one for 100$ and buuy your deck, but it's still very conditional.
Nothing printed in this rarity will be exclusive to it in general, only exclusive to it for that set, in which case it won't be standard legal. What this rarity does do, though, is drive more packs to be opened.
Love the monty python reference, in addition we did not vote for Marchesa (or Brago for that matter).
Monarch seems to be the only thing you *don't* vote for on Fiora, ironically.
How is that ironic? No king or queen in the history of Earth has ever been voted monarch. It's either a birth right or seized by the right of conquest.
I figure if rain on your wedding day can be ironic, so can this.
On the other hand, still no Painter's Servant so who cares?
In all seriousness, it's nice to see Braids back in the 99, and I'll be curious to see what kind of decks get built for this banlist.

I have to ask. . .
Why?
I don't mean that to insult you or anything, I genuinely just don't get it.

Forreal, my favorite matches are playing control vs aggro. There's a lot of ways for it to go.

Only has those initial 4 though
At least these aren't new cards, just reprints(coprints, in the case of the gearhulk).
