You suspicion is correct, when you cast Brass Knuckles two separate spells are put onto the stack. And one instance of a counterspell can only target one of them.
A card like Double Negative would be needed to counter both.

People here are actually having melt-y discussions of what should or shouldn’t be in mtg?

Of course they are, have you not met Magic players before?

    EDITED: after play testing

New game object: Finish Line. The finish line is an object on the battlefield, it cannot be affected by anything other than combat damage dealt by vehicles.

    Vehicles attack the Finish Line.
During combat, for each of the active player's Vehicles that deals combat damage to the Finish Line that player acquires a Lap emblem*. The first player to acquire ten Lap emblems wins.
During combat any player may block Vehicles attempting to attack the Finish Line.
If an attacking creature ceases to be a Vehicle before combat damage is dealt, its controller will not earn a Lap emblem.

Creatures cannot attack players, creatures can still attack Planeswalkers.

The only way a player can win is by acquiring 10 Lap counters. If a game-state or effect** would have a player lose the game, that player continues in the game instead. If a game-state or effect** would have a player win the game, nothing happens and the game continues.

My way of trying to capture the flavor of vehicles, appreciate thoughts, comments, or critiques.

*I started out using Lap counters however, with cards like Solemnity out there I feel that could just bust the format.
With them being emblems, there can be no shenanigans.
** (other than acquiring 10 Lap counters)

I didn't realize your version could block with standard creatures... I could honestly see it both ways. I wanted to make it as close to your version as possible. So sorry I missed that little detail!

I think for your video it was better to play the way you did. More people are familiar with the rules on reddit than those posted here.
I'm considering adopting it that way for my playgroup.
And besides, SpiceTrader56 is doing a much better job at curating the format than I.

    Apples and oranges.

I wish the MTG community would unite and put up a united front but this isn't a RPG. RPG's are based on players minds and imaginations, rules can be arbitrary and flexible. MTG is bound by strict rules printed on pieces of cardboard. No deviation from those rules are allowed. It is a chessboard with changing pieces that if you pay more you may indeed win more. On top of that those changing pieces are treated like stocks and traded like them as well. Until players quit paying stupid amounts of money for little pieces of cardboard (to "win" at all costs) nothing is going to change.

I don't like it, but that is the reality of the situation.

I will be looking into Sorcery when they finally get around to printing their Unlimited/Beta edition this year at some point. I hope others will do the same.

The thing is, is that it's possible to play Magic and at the same time not support WOTC. If you at the Old School 93/93 and Premodern formats for example. These are formats that are player driven and run, and they are formats that WOTC doesn't explicitly print cards to. The fact is, is that it's possible to play Magic without ever engaging in new products if you want to do so.

I have spent ridiculous amounts on individual cards. Not for the sake of winning more, but to build up a collection. Buying older cards on the secondary market doesn't support WOTC, it supports the LGSs.(and yes I am aware that buying new singles does support WOTC de facto)

The Magic community could boycott WOTC, but the fact is that "MTG community" is a misnomer, we are multiple communities with varied ways with which we engage the game. The same holds true for the D&D community, but the difference is that WOTC pissed off the part of the D&D community that is the most financially engaged. There are tons of D&D groups that are completely unaffected by WOTC's decisions and could care less one way or another. When I play D&D I'm playing a mix of 1st and 2nd Editions, no need for papa Hasbro subsidiary products for my group.
It's be cool if Magic players could have the ability to influence WOTC's decisions, but the very nature of the game makes that improbable.

posted a message on Why is Standard format dying?
I think it is a combination of several factors.

    1. Covid kept players away from each other.
    2. Magic Arena is pushed by GotC/Hasbro and pushing players into digital.
    3. Product fatigue.
    4. Card quality (or lack thereof).
    5. Price of admission to competitive Standard decks.
    6. Lack of support to LGSs.
    7. Lack of power/playable cards outside of mythics.
    8. Slowness in banning overpowered and "unfun" cards.
    9. Price increases for sealed products.
    10. Inflation.
    11. Success of Commander.
    12. Wedging Commander cards and Commander product into Draft, Set and Collector Boosters.
    13. Collector Boosters chasing sales away from Draft booster boxes.

The perfect storm really and I haven't seen a lot from GotC/Hasbro to pull Standard out of what I believe is a death spiral.

    Absolutely all this!

The Magic Historian over on youtube has a video explaining what the issues are. It’s well thought out and covers a lot of different aspects.

The whales that have spoken out would all rather just spend that amount of money on actual RL cards. But I do agree that a bunch of youtube "try-hards" will buy and crack this for click-bait. I do believe however, that there is a marginal chance that this product will not sell well at all. That the people with money would rather buy originals and everyone else will just not be able to afford it, nor want to. So then who is this for? A non existent demographic? Post Malone? Just one possibility. If we could only hope.

@WarMachinePrime your suggestion of boycotting stores that allow people to play these and refusing to play with people who use them will do nothing to change anyone's outlook and make you come across as an immature jerk. This action does not punish WOTC in any way, it just alienates you from people who disagree with your stance on a luxury toy. It's the Walking Dead thing all over again. So what if WOTC sells some overpriced collector's item that will have almost zero bearing in the average game of Magic. At the end of the day all you all are really complaining about are some extra copies of proxy dual lands out in the wild.
What exactly are we "sitting idly by and taking"? You're mad about a consumer product that you don't need and isn't marketed towards you? I'd be more upset about the price increases of basic draft and set boxes.

Us old farts love it. It harkens back to a more civilized era.
