Jun 2, 2013mykatdied posted a message on Legacy Pox #5: Game SwapI like the deck and your breakdowns seem pretty good so far. 3 scroll I agree is definitely a must. I personally use spinning darkness in my build. Against any type of aggro or burn deck it can be the 3 life you gain that saves you. Honestly I have dropped nether void as I have yet to find it worthwhile to my personal play style. I also have drifted towards Black and white smallpox but thanks to your posts I have decided to try out some testing of MB again. I based my list off of Duke's 3rd place SCG open list. I actually added Sensei's divining top to it to smooth out those grindy draws which occur so often. I personally use 2 extirpates and 1 surgical as my s/b yard hate. I also dropped in 2 ratchet bombs because they deal with needles and JTMS which has spelled so much death for me in the past. It could also be your answer to entreat if you try it out. I like your list a lot and if I owned a tabernacle I would completely be on that boat with you. GOOD JOB man. Someone has to keep Pox alive.Posted in: gigapatrick Blog

I also played around with a Gisela, the Broken Blade for a bit after someone else had suggested it. The card was great against Miracles and BUG Leovold given the fact it is out of decay range and can be protected by Karakas. Felt it was too cute in general so I removed it, but it could also be something worthwhile to test.
Possible sideboard option could be Renegade Rallier for the revolt mechanic. Even if it just returns a fetchland you get to ramp a bit. It can also rebuy a pridemage for later in the game.

Round 1 vs. Kevin on Affinity 1-2
Game 1
Opening hand was reasonable with 2 plains, 2 vial, Thalia, Flickerwisp, Swords to Plowshares. He got a revoker down which I swords and followed up with another revoker and Etched Champion. Thalia wasn't enough and I didn't find my 3rd land until about turn 8 or 9. My hand at that point was Gisela, Flickerwisp, Mangara, THC, vial and sword of fire and ice I believe. I flickered his revoker and dumped a Gisela on board. Unfortunately his board at this point was 2 ornithopter, 2 vault skirge, revoker, chalice @1, etched champion and an archbound ravager. I died two turns after getting gisela and flicker on board.
Game 2
I do what DnT does. Restrict his resources and tax him while getting a creature with Jitte online. He scoops quickly.
Game 3
I keep a sketchy 1 land, 2 vial, 2 swords to plow, 1 path to exile, 1 leonin relic-warder. He gets an early chalice @1 and etched champion while I have to use relic warder to take chalice. I swords an ornithopter but double cranial plating on etched champion is more than enough on my opponents turn 3. If I drew a second land I was great to win it. The greed is real.
0-1
Round 2 vs Daniel Seco on UB Faeries 2-0
Both games were terrible for him. Got everything I could have asked for including Gisela both games who controls the sky 100%. We both agreed that DnT is likely his worst match up.
1-1
Round 3 vs Dylan on Miracles 2-1
Game 1
I took a commanding lead easily and held vial on 3 with Prelate in hand to spring on an attempt to miracle a Terminus. He scoops shortly after my Batterskull with SoFi rips his life total apart.
Game 2
I have a pretty strong hold on the game with a vial and equipment on board. He Vensers my germ token and I use vial to put in Palace Jailer. Drawing extra cards is sweet. After next turn I forget to port in upkeep and he flips entreat for 3. It all goes downhill from there when he gets the Monarchy and I can't get through his Angels.
Game 3
Similar to game 1. I keep him ported off white mana and eventually flickerwisp with SoFi tears apart his life total.
2-1
Round 4 Jerry "Scrub" Mee on Punishing Thing in the Ice 0-2 (Friend and fellow brewer for Hipsters of the Coast)
Game 1 and 2 his draws line up perfectly and I never get anything going while he is able to flip double Thing in the Ice and I don't draw anything relevant. Game 2 I had him down to 2 with 2 damage on board looking down his TNN. I draw council's Judgment and realize my port, plains, cavern land set up is not really ideal. I lose turns later. Dack Fayden is real good against me...
2-2 - Likely out of top 8, but 9-16 get 3 EMA packs so I keep it going for that.
Round 5 vs Ben Brandt on Esper Deathblade 2-0
Game 1
We trade resources for a bit. My double wasteland was met with his 4 land hand. He get a jitte going, but double pumps his 1 creature leaving 2 counters on jitte. I swords in response to prevent more counters. My turn I vial in THC and when he tries to kill it, I Karakas to wipe the counters off his jitte. I get THC back in play and return the favor of Jitte control.
Game 2
I have the mana denial and a strong opener which slowly tempos him out. He fetched a Plains and Swamp which I believe costed him the game. (The usual LGS weekly events include 1-3 Mogg Catcher decks so the meta is semi inbred, hence deathblade with 2 basics. I did suggest to him that in a bigger event he should be on a greedier mana base as that basically threw the game.)
3-2 - Hopefully still alive, look at standings and there are 12 and 9 point players from 1st - 22.
Round 6 Andrew on RW Painter 2-0
Game 1
I have complete control for a while, I hit a bridge covered in vines which my creatures can't attack through. I slowly build my board and get Prelate down on 1 to stop Grindstone and Pyro/Red Elemental Blasts. I find a lot of land. Palace Jailer removed a Painter's Servant and draws me a ton of cards. I finally draw Recruiter into Flickerwisp to deal the last 6 damage with another Wisp and Gisela.
Game 2
Very similar to game 1, no bridge and I had Batterskull and Gisela Swinging away. I had a Pithing Needle on Sensei's Diving top. One thing to note is that I boarded out SoFi as they generally name blue which invalidates the Sword.
4-2
Made 18th, there were 4 players under me with 12 points. 1st had 15. It was a very competitive day and my opponents were all great. Certainly not my best performance but the day was a lot of fun.
Things I learned:
Gisela is actually a great beater. I will keep her 1 main/1 side.
Mangara was relevant in the Painter match up, but overall wasn't ideal. Back to dropping the Wizard I always miss the card.
Going up to 3 Recruiter finally.
Palace Jailer was ok, didn't need/want it often. But overall was decent in RW Painter and Miracles if I don't forget to Port on upkeep.
THC under performed IMO. She is great vs Elves and against flash blockers but tight play can also solve those issues. I don't believe she is currently great in my meta, but she is still awesome overall.
No matter how much land I add to a deck, I find less than I likely should. Sticking to 23, going to work on more aggressive mulligans.
Things to try:
Going to try a Blessed Alliance in the board vs Burn and TNN decks.
Going to try having Leonin Relic-Warder main board since I have a lot of blade decks at my LGS.
