I personally don't like cards like Tormenting Voice in this deck. The zombies will drain your hand quickly and you need something that's going to add cards to your hand. Tormenting Voice doesn't do that. You play it, you discard a card, and then you get 2 cards. Your hand size goes -2+2, so you don't get any extra cards in hand. Even if you discard a zombie, it's not going to change that you haven't gotten any closer to pulling a zombie back from the GY.

Cards like Take Inventory do much better. the first one does the same thing as Tormenting, but every one after the first add cards to the hand. If you're mid game with 1 in the yard and you top deck it with an empty hand, you get 2 cards which lets your bring back your Skaab/Haunted Dead. In the same scenario, if you top deck a Tormenting with an empty hand, you can't even play it. Even if you're using a card like Catalog (which I recommend over Tormenting because it's an instant, but I wouldn't play it either), you can still play it, but you still end up with the same amount of cards in hand as when you started. You STILL have to wait until next turn before you can bring a zombie back.

My only advice when it comes to building with these zombies is you have to play with card draw that is going to add cards to your hand. I play UR, so I play Fevered Visions with Take Inventory. If you're not playing UR, I'd recommend cards like Read the Bones or Altar's Reap, to a lesser extent Merciless Resolve. I particually like Altar's Reap because zombies come back. Merciless Resolve works well in a zombie deck especially if you have Drownyard Temple.

You are right about Tormenting Voice. My deck rn does run out of a hand pretty quickly and Tormenting Voice is only neutrally drawing me cards. Are you running Nahiri's Wrath as well? If I take away Tormenting Voice then the only way to start getting zombies into the graveyard would be by either using a Lightning Axe or by having a Wharf Infiltrator out and attacking (which isn't always reliable). If I try out Take Inventory I will need to bring in the Nahiri's Wraths which actually sounds like a better option thinking it over.

Take Inventory and Fevered Visions both seem like very great CA to me. Could you please post your UR list, I am curious and eager to try this out?

I've been proxying PB's deck that I'm going to use at fnm this week. Have only played my friend's deck which is GW humans and he plays a cheaper alternative to the deck list so I can't really use that as an example. However I've found that I get rid of my hand pretty quickly even without Nahiri's wrath, so I now use Kozilek's Return instead of the wraths. Might side them in against bigger creatures, but a combination of Lightning Axes and other burn can usually deal with them. I have yet to try out the Wraths alongside Bedlam Revelers. Also just want to say that Tormenting Voice offers insane card advantage in this deck, with the added benefit to discard Prized Amalgam/Geralf's Masterpiece/Stitchwing Skaab/Fiery Temper.

Sorry I didn't see the spoiler before about dig, but is a great card. It lets you search for your win con easier (skimming through 7 cards over 3) and let's you pick out the cards you need atm (removal, etc). Casting dig again with Jace=profit. If you're going esper Dragonlord Ojutai is another good choice.

Wait seriously? It's gotta be a dumb excerpt then. I spent an hour trying to find info on what they gave out at pax but couldn't find any. So I looked up the book and compared the cover with that of the picture. I assumed since Wizards put the title "art of magic the gathering Zendikar"on the book in the pic that it would be "art of magic the gathering Zendikar."

*actually dying inside rn* if it's not the book and I paid $35 for it :'((

I'm sorry I wasn't sure which thread this would go in but I just bought the BFZ Art book on ebay. The user listed it as "pax magic the gathering swag collection." I was pretty sure the release date was January 2016 but this guy has it now. I got it for $35 which I'm pretty happy about and it should ship by sep 22.

My question is how'd he get it so early? Inside connections?

The item description was "Comes with Zendikar art book and 5 magic the gathering decks that include one rare and several uncommon along with rares think it's around 20 cards each starter"

So he also was given some sample decks too.

Does anyone think Chord of Calling would be a viable option for this deck? Maybe searching for a Kiora or satyr and putting it into play? then again, it is pretty costly

  • posted a message on Polis Crusher: Is it really that bad of a card?
I feel like Polis Crusher is totally overlooked for its cyclops-art. I mean at the worst it's a 4 drop 4/4 with trample and protection from enchantments. I mean if this set really does bring some good usable enchantment creatures, and it does completely bypass devoted-up gods which are such a huge wall when they become creatures. Plus it has the opportunity to become beefed up by monstrosity, and destroy an enchantment each turn it swings. I feel like it could at least be side-boarded for something post bng.

Today on the Wizards site the Planeswalker's Guide to Born of Gods was up!
This article might contain many spoilers as to what to expect in Born of Gods!

First up it explains how "Strange creatures of enchantment are pouring into the mortal world" these creatures that cross from Nyx are known as the Nyxborn.

To me it sounds like we might be getting some more enchantment creatures other than the gods in Born of Gods! Doesn't seem too farfetched in an enchantment block.

The article also explains the story of how Xenagos becomes a god, which was already known but still pretty cool.

Last of all, Kiora's planeswalker profile may or may not be hinting to some future Eldrazi reprint in a possible upcoming block (Huey, Dewie Louie)? Although it could just be some background to Kiora:

"Her home has been ravaged by the Eldrazi swarm, and she believes that only by summoning the fierce krakens, serpents, and other terrors of the deep can she defeat the titans who now rule Zendikar."

Seems exciting? What do you guys think! I can't wait to see some enchantment creatures if they are printed!

  • posted a message on [Speculation] Wizards Reprinting Fetchlands?
Alright, now it is very believeable the Wizards could reprint Fetchkands, and they probably will eventually (not surprising). However if they were to reprint fetches they would either not be in a standard environment (MM2?) or they will be reprinted a couple years from now.

This is because there would be no use of fetches in standard after RTR rotates out. I mean what would you fetch?

So we can already assume that the fetches will be reprinted in some other standard-excluded set like MM2, or they will be reprinted in a set after the Theros block rotates out and the next set has nonbasic-lands that are Mountains, plains etc.

quite nice actually and unique that's for sure. I feel all the god foils will be worth a nice bit of money just on the look of the borders. I like them I don't know about anybody else.

also I have to say it seems thoughtseize is the hardest rare to pull. i've seen multiple boxes online, in store, and mine where 0 were opened quite frequently. possible short print?

Heck Me and someone else both pulled foil thought seizes just at the prerelease. . . .

I recently pulled a foil Thoughtseize at the prerelease and was so excited at my luck. Thoughtseize is an amazing card, and definently holds a place as one of the money cards in Theros, but why is the reprint so low?
Before Thoughtseize was reprinted it was at a happy $57, that's very far from the current $23.

I guess my question is, why are some reprints a lot lower than others? Is it because Theros is such a good set and will be opened a lot more?
