It is possible he plays against Jund and Kiki-Chord constantly in his local meta, in which case his build would be fine, but yeah, seems a bit squishy to the aggro decks with 2x Ashiok, 2x Thirst, and Crucible in the main.
Some guys talk modern Tezz in their new weekly stream. Starts around 12 minutes into the stream.
TL;DL
x Liliana of the Veil
2 Ashiok
2 Collective Brutality
2 Thirst for Knowledge
2 Damnation
1 Go for the Throat
1 Dismember
2/2 Thopter / Sword
2 Chalice of the Void
2 Ensnaring Bridge (thinking about 3)
4 Tezz
5 Mana Rocks (4 Talisman)
1 Executioner's Capsule
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Crucible of Worlds
4 Darkslick Shores
4 Darksteel Citadel
2 Tar Pit
2 Academy Ruins
1 Urborg
2 Ghost Quarter
x River of Tears
1 Sea Gate Wreckage
x (1?) Inventors' Fair
2 Island
1 Swamp
1 Batterskull - Against burn and midrange
1 Negate
1 Spreading Seas - Seems odd as a 1-of
1 Shadow of Doubt - Seems like a pet card of his
1 Flaying Tendrils
1 Torpor Orb
1 Pithing Needle
2 Hurkyl's Recall - If you are running crane I don't think this is needed, sice Affinity is a lot better of a matchup with it
Might have missed something, most interesting part is maindeck Crucible, but only 2 GQ with Crucible seems questionable and didn't mention fetching with GQ + Darksteel, 2/2 combo split, don't think he mentioned Crane.
He says downside to the deck, too slow, which is true, but I think he could really use a Crane.
Gonna muster up the effort to update the primer this week, just been busy with work and life recently.
If anyone has a list they feel is solid (not just experimental builds) feel free to post/repost it and I can add it to the front for people asking questions.
I've streamed a few times and I'd like to do it more, somehow hit 100 viewers at a point. There were several times where I only had a handful of viewers; instead of feeling bad about having only a few viewers you can use it as a learning experience as you are able to capture your thoughts at the time and analyze them later.
Consulate Skygate should just be Spellskite, so much more upside than reach. Prophetic Prism doesn't give enough value outside of the cycling to be worth it. However, I feel that Filigree Familiar could probably be used in an aggressive meta where the lifegain is valuable.
I've just played a few online games and already love the Crane. How are you feeling about the Mana Rocks now with the 2 drop spot getting more and more stuff radouf? Have you tried just swapping them out for lands instead? I'm gonna keep testing no-rock builds for now.
Pre-ordered some Cranes, Filigree Familiars, Inventor's Fairs, and Collective Brutalities (since I haven't played paper in a while). Surprisingly cheap on the pre-orders since other cards seem to have the spotlight this pre-order season.
Sadly I think Padeem at 4 mana is too slow, good sure, but plays the same role as Spellskite, is 2 extra mana worth being a bit better against hate and drawing a card? Don't think so, also not fetchable by Tezz and Crane. We also already have draw engines and would have to cut down on those. I think the 4 drop slot is already overfilled.
Man, I really love the art and style and stats on Contraband Kingpin, blocks 3/3s with lifelink, but the ability on Glint-Nest Crane is so much better. Baubles will definitely be good since the guarantee more draws.
Saheeli Rai good enough to be a mini Dack for us in Modern? What are the key cards we would want to be copying? Sadly it is a temporary effect so no copying Ensnaring Bridges.
Well how about that, I'll be playing four from now on, and YOU will be late then
On a more serious note, why hasn't anybody tried Quicksilver Fountain as a SB card against Tron and TitanShift? It seems very good...
The problem is Tron is only slowed down by these things, even Blood Moon which is better than Fountain isn't just GG against Tron, you still need a clock before they hit 6-7 lands and hard cast their colorless fatties. I think the real plan against Tron has to be going under them with aggro, can't lock them or beat them in the long game.
MTG Brewmaster - it can import from MTGO and export to the forums.
Otherwise you can copy paste and add headings yourself.
So I've actually been playing Eternal (the digital card game) a lot recently, lots of MTG pros working on the development team, but I'd like to Tezz people some more again.
With Dredge making a big showing, Damnation feels worse and Ensnaring Bridge feels back on the table. The main problem is they can dig hard for hate g2 and g3, so we need a good plan and non-exiling sweepers only work for so long (not very).
