Can you help me out? I'm not seeing the option:

    See attached image.

Very odd, we're looking into that now.

    It works now!

My custom title just decided to up and walk off.

Also, now, apparently, we have to go through an admin for every CT change, instead of having the default ability to do so at 1000 post count.

I'm unhappy with the loss of functionality... Smiledown

That's a setting, just flipped that on. All users can give themselves a custom title at 1000 posts here.

Also, maybe I missed this in an earlier version of the question thread, but there aren't a lot of threads shown on each page. Is there a way to increase that count? For example, in the Modern Deck Creation subforum, we always have about 10-12 threads stickied (http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/modern-deck-creation), but now those stickied threads take up the entire first page. On the current live version of the forum, the deck creation subforum has 66 threads on the page, the majority of which were updated either today or the previous day.

If I am a user who is browsing the forum, I need to be able to see as much activity as I can, not just the top 10-15 threads. This is particularly important in very active subforums. One solution might be to add a feature that lets you increase the threads per page. But that actually doesn't work If the "increase threads per page" option is tied to accounts, however, then visitors with no account won't be able to see the other threads on subsequent pages.

Honestly, I think that the new site should display the same number of threads per page as the old site, or at least something very similar.

This is a setting controlled by the admins. They can change the threads per page and posts per page.

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great holiday break!

We're going through this thread now and getting a list of things to work on. Thanks for all the feedback! Here are some short answers to your questions/concerns in the mean time.

    Quote from DarkAbyssKeeper

Is there some sort of limit on carriage returns within posts? Some difference in the way new lines are handled?

I have lots of previous posts that seem to have combined what were on multiple lines into blocks of one line, and I don't seem to be able to edit them to reinclude the correct spacing. This is especially awkward where [ p ] tags have been used because anything in those tags that isn't on a separate line overlaps.

    Like

    this

Also, when I previewed this post several size=14.3px tags had somehow snuck into the post.

Our WYSIWYG editor is having some growing pains right now, but we're looking into the spacing bugs (among other things).

The search function does not work for me, i keep getting "

    Error

Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request."

We've been unable to replicate this. Next time you get an error could you post a screenshot of it? Thanks!

    Quote from Beware

The login process for old MTGS users is more than a little obtuse with no clear way to go about it. I just had to guess at whether or not I had an account, then got thrown off when my usual nickname was already taken, then had to figure out if I already made an account or if I automatically got migrated.

We'll be doing a FAQ here shortly that should help with the migration process.

    Quote from calderstrake

Hi, I have a few feedback items.

    1) All embedded links are attached to a linkout function.
    Example:
    This: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-exalted-one/ Becomes: http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/linkout?remoteUrl=http%3a%2f%2ftappedout.net%2fmtg-decks%2fthe-exalted-one%2f
Although, I understand the drive to include this sort of behavior for ad serving, it makes it very difficult to follow links when you don't have an account (guest) or when viewing form a mobile device.

    2) No difference in icon for hot threads, threads I posted, or combinations of the mentioned and others that show up now.

    3) Given the audience of this web site, I strongly believe that it serves the interests of the community better to make the Dark template the default template and make the Light template the optional one.

    4) Carriage returns: this was mentioned before and I saw some others doing some testing, but the discrepancy exists between the 'standard' editor and the BB code editor. If you click the BB box and then go back to standard, it performs as typically expected.

    5) Any testing as to how an existing Curse account is affected when connected to the Beta versus when it goes live? For example, I moved between these dates, so will this be reflected accurately on the next data dump (or the final live dump)?

    6) Signature is updated but other user controlled items are not. Referencing the above, I updated my signature after my location. Why did these not pull at the same time or why did they pull independently?

    1. This can be turned off entirely, we'll discuss this with the admins.
    4. See my comment above concerning these.
5./6. A final import from www.mtgsalvation.com of all up-to-date data will be done before we launch.

    Quote from Wheat_Grinder

It seems that there's no way to jump to the start of posts that were posted since the last visit as there is on MTGS. There's a jump to latest post, but that doesn't do a whole lot. I play a lot of mafia, so being able to jump to new posts is a feature that is so important I would call it nearly mandatory, and something that would greatly impede my enjoyment.

The reply box is really screwy; I used to hit enter twice to start a new paragraph, or else just one enter if I'm doing some sort of compact list. Now one enter is actually two enters. In addition, it seems to glitch out if you enter twice and delete just one.

    Two enter spacing from above.

Two enter spacing then delete from above

One enter spacing from above. And finally, one enter then delete from above.

I feel that this system ends up being really weird; why not just have one enter be an enter, rather than have to do deletes to get an odd number of line spacings?

EDIT: So as it turns out this is a reply box bug, and deleting does remove the enters. And what's more, while in edit mode, I can double enter like I normally do on MTGS and it works. There's a disconnect from the reply box to here. Let's see if it's the same with the edit box.
    EDIT 2: Single enter test
EDIT 3: So I can single enter using edit reply but not regular reply. That's silly and should be fixed, preferably to allow for single enter reply but if not, it should be fixed so that they are the same and that the reply box isn't showing something different than what will be posted. I don't want to have to hit preview every time.

Looks like there's multiquote, and that's good.

I sort of feel as though the default font is one or two points bigger than the current MTGS. Is this so? If so, could it be dropped to be in alignment with that? I'm used to MTGS and the new size screws with my head.

Lastly I have no wish to like this site on twitter and facebook. I'd quite enjoy NOT seeing those buttons at the top of the page. At the very bottom? Sure, I never look there anyway. Hell, actually looking down there I see much better looking buttons anyway.

Actually no, this is the last. The avatar button in the top right is extremely unsettling if you have a moving avatar. For my avatar, it looks as though it's some quivering hellspawn until I look closely and figure out exactly what it is. Don't make me think of my 2hus as hellspawn pls. Except the ones that are because some sort of are.

And then I've got one more complaint so I lied again about that being the last: I'd really enjoy if when you highlighted the post number in the top right that it would underline it or something, just so you have visual feedback that it's highlighted.

Oh my goodness upon trying to hit reply I have another. The button I would normally hit for post reply seems to be "Upload an Image". I think a lot of us on MTGS are used to post reply being on the bottom left, so that will take some mental reworking. Or, some reworking by you dudes (which is the more preferable option.)

Ultimately this comes down to the layout changes from MTGS being unnecessary and kind of annoying.

Jumping to the first unread post should be operational. You can either click on either of these links to get there. If this doesn't work, it would be great if you could send a screenshot or video of the behavior you're seeing instead.

    Quote from bateleur

Mostly the beta seems fine to me, just a few things I wanted to comment on:

    1) When I try to attach an image to a post (in the testing area, in case it matters), I get "An error has occurred while trying to save the file you uploaded: This file is too large, and will put you over your attachment limit for this site." The file was under 48K, so this is silly. If there's an attachment ban the message should say so. If not, the upload should have succeeded.

    2) "Clans" isn't there. I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere of why not, but...

    3) There doesn't seem to be any kind of Beta FAQ or similar where I can quickly look up things like that to avoid bothering people about them unnecessarily. (I'm assuming most of the obvious differences between existing Salvation and the Beta are known at this point?)

    1. The limit is just very low at the moment, we will raise it to a more appropriate level.
    3. We're working on that.

    Quote from cryogen

    1. In the Account Settings > Notification Settings, the "Receive All Notifications in E-Mail" checkbox still floats off to the right by itself.

    2. In the Account Settings > My Subscriptions, it looks cramped and spills out beyond the right border. It actually appears that there is just a lot of dead blue space on either side.

    3. Is there a way to remove the excessive spacing when pressing enter (as seen in this post)?

    4. Where is the full list of smilies that is normally available at the other site? Clicking on the smilie button in the Reply to Post menu bar is only a partial list.

    2. Can you screenshot that? We'll take a look at it.
    4. A full smiley browser will be implemented shortly.

    Quote from Phuncz

Some issues I found and suggestions I'd like to make. I haven't read the hundreds of previous comments so excuse me if it has already been said.

No links to the first unread post of a topic, just the last post (not useful) and the first post. Suggestion: use the topic icon for this function.

Please see my post above concerning this, it should be working. If it's not, please provide a screenshot or video, thanks!

    Quote from Hardened

I found an example of post numbers being different between the two versions; I don't know if this will retroactively ruin linked posts. Also, is there a way to see if you have a new message without opening your mailbox?

    Looking into this.

    Quote from BetweenWalls

Saw something strange today when trying to find cheap rare cards. (less than 50 cents) Nothing showed up in the search. Tried it for uncommons and had a bunch of results. Here's the search: http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/cards?filter-price-min=0.01&filter-price-max=0.50&filter-rarity=68&sort=price (I started at $0.01 because there were cards listed at $0.00 for some reason) Checkout Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts for an example of a card that should have appeared.

Tried it again at a maximum of $0.60 and got even stranger results. Upon further investigation, it seems to filter prices based on TCGPlayer's MAXIMUM price. It'd be nice to be able to change this to the median or low price. (and default to one of those instead)

    Looking into this as well.

    Quote from Palanthas

    (1) Looking through some old threads of mine, I noticed that the "Card" tags didn't work. See, e.g., http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/forums/market-street/market-street-cafe/496010-anti-expansion-cards#c1

    (2) When reading a thread, the hierarchy of forums at the top of the page are not clearly hierarchical. I can tell when I inspect closely that there's a light grey arrow between the levels, but it's not particularly clear. It just looks like a list of forums, not that different from the bar of links at the top of each page.

    (3) The "Reply to this Topic" box at the bottom of the thread is essentially solid grey. A lighter color for the text-entry box (like, almost white) would make it look more familiar, like most text-entry boxes.

    (4) I agree with earlier posters that the line spacing within paragraphs and after paragraphs is too much. EDIT: WHILE I was typing this post, the within-paragraph line spacing was large (like 1.5 lines--not fully double-spaced); AFTER I posted it, the within-paragraph line spacing shrunk to single-spaced.

    1. The original [card] tags there are quite malformed, hence the trouble reading them. The correct format is just "card"cardname"/card". I haven't seen other issues on older posts, but if you do please let us know.

    Quote from Xaios

EDIT 2: looks like I lost my custom title. Previously it was E Pluribus Anus

That's the first thing I noticed as well, custom titles seem to have gone out the window. Mine was "Foolish Mortal" before.

That was an error in our importing process. They'll be there on our next import. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Things like posts not being up-to-date are temporary issues, we just haven't done an import recently. Before the site goes live, we'll definitely do a full import. Also, we know the text editor is the biggest issue right now, we're looking into it!

    Quote from ChefStiX

Also, my sig doesn't work like it used to on the old site. I'm sure this can be fixed though.

Unfortunately, the way we render bbcode there has to be a space in between each symbol. So your sig would need to have a space in between these: :symg::symw:. I'd recommend using the mana tags instead.

Hey everyone, another new update has arrived!

    • The much requested "thank" feature from the old MTGSalvation has been implemented.
    • Support for forum skins has been implemented. There's no dark skin yet, but it's being worked on now. Check back soon for a much darker experience!
    • Multi-quote has been implemented in the forums. Users can now quote multiple posts, even across pages within a thread, quickly and easily.
    • Thread listings can now be sorted by latest post (the default), thread creation date, view count, and post count.
    • A new notification will alert users when a thread they created has been locked or deleted.
    • The /new-content feature has been overhauled. It now allows for automatic refreshing every 15 seconds and enhanced filtering as been added.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or find any bugs, please report them in this thread. We still have another feature update in the pipeline, so I'll be back soon with new of that.

    Hey everyone!

Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone for their patience during our radio silence over the last month or so. We've been hard at work on making the new MTG Salvation the best it can be. With that in mind, we've just pushed an update (the first of several over the next few weeks) to the beta that will hopefully improve the experience for everyone. Here's a quick rundown of the changes:

    • We've improved the formatting of posts to better match their originals. We still have some work to do here, so don't be discouraged if everything isn't perfect yet!
    • Animated gif support for avatars has been added.
    • We've removed the rounded corners on avatar frames.
    • Navigation dropdowns now activate on click rather than on hover.
    • Added registration date and location to post bits.
    • Staff now have their names in bold, while normal users should not.
    • Minimizing forums should be better all around.
    • Spacing between mana symbols has been fixed.
    • Threads per page and posts per thread can now be customized in forum management.
    • Mark all as read should be fixed.
    • The signature area in short posts should start higher up.
    • The forum home is now the root of the breadcrumb within forums.
    • Quote bugs should be fixed.
    • Improper ordering of posts within threads should be fixed.

If you find issues or have concerns, please continue to post in this thread. We have a lot more coming down the pipe, so stay tuned!

A few things about the Trading Post:
    • When editing a trade post, there's no preview option
    • Even though it says Using the "5x Card Name" format will automatically link the cards to the database entry, doing so will not link the cards to their database entries

Made a note about both of those things, we'll look into it.

I started poking around the beta in the places that i normally frequent and noticed something kinda annoying. Where in the normal forum you can put title text on each post, that same ability doesn't seem to translate over to the new beta. For example, in the Pokemon RPG I've been running in the Colosseum, I've been using the post title to denote which Pokemon belong to which player...

Unfortunately, this is intentional. Hopefully you guys can work around this!

P.S. Also, apparently my Sig Banner doesn't work. IDK if that's normal or not...

Card search is still not the greatest. Typing "Force of Will" without the quotes returns over 200 cards. With the quotes, it returns nothing.Force of Will as a card-tag is fine, though.

I agree that it's somewhat awkward, but this is intentional. This may be something we look at in the future.
