Late but I need to comment on this card. Like, this is the epitome of a meme card. Everything about this card is so ridiculous including both of its costs. In a world where Atarka, World Render is a thing the only reason to run it is to just get a good laugh from the table after they read this card's...everything. I still have beautiful memories of opening up a foil version of that and making a casual deck with it, Dragon Roost,Kilnmouth Dragons, and Form of the Dragon waaaay back in the day. I wish they would reprint the card so I can have a modern frame foil copy. I would probably never in a million years actually run the thing in a deck. I'd just put it on display on my desk or something.

as for Meteor Blast, eh. There's so many better ways for red to make room for the bigger ones to fight in, you know.

My group allows me to run him as my commander as long as I constantly do a Him from the Power Puff Girls impression.

I have yet to take advantage of that liberty. For some strage reason I think it's not worth the strain on my vocal cords...

Phelddagrif is my favorite commander as a character and I hate that its kind will never be a thing in magic again...

My favorite to play is The Ur-Dragon because dragon tribal is just something I really like to do for some reason and this is as true to dragon tribal as it gets, unlike Scion of the Ur-Dragon that act like its gonna be tribal but then it pins you down and shoves a combo in your face.

Without text context the first page just makes it look like Chandra is being terrified at Ajani being like, 3 times her size.

Most of EDHREC’s articles are geared towards flavor and casual, for beginners if you will, and the emphasis on fun is to stick to the format’s spirit.

Believe me I build for casual fun myself but it doesn't mean I'm settling for terrible deck design. Well, terrible deck design that is aside from the fact its 5 color dragons to begin with...

Homeward Path is important to me because people love to take stuff from the top of my deck. But it's definately a meta call.

I've grown to hate Temple of the False God. That card has a really bad habit of trolling me.

I appreciate that Scavenger Grounds exists because Bojuka Bog almost always trolls me.

In a multi-colored deck, I usually just run Homeward Path and maybe Reliquary Tower. I kinda want to count Cavern of Souls as a colorless utility land though it does technically produce a colored mana for exactly one reason...

    EDHREC taught me how not to build my The Ur-Dragon if that means anything. Like, yeah Vanquisher's Banner is such a great card to have in a deck that's usually going to cast only one dragon a turn. Nicol Bolas planeswalkers have so much more synergy with dragon tribal than the Sarkhan the Mad. Precon fillers like the Sieges and the curses totally deserve to stay. Fearsome Awakening costs more than some of my dragons but it's totally a good reanimation spell as opposed to Reanimate or just Living Death. It's so hard to perfect my main deck when all the good deck builders only gravitate towards the actually good commanders ;_;

I remember when I took a trip to Greece and Heliod went up to me and asked if I'd like to be his champion. I asked him if he was going to stab me at any point during my career in his service and he said "Possibly". Yeah Magic is kinda getting too real for me.

I wouldn't mind a trip to viking land. It means we'll probably get a lightning dragon, which means dragon that's really good Smile

There is something really audacious about a combo piece that also just spills out what you've drawn and you're drawing in front of the whole table. I kinda like that in a weird way.

This is like, the set where you get excited when you see a blue card in the rare slot but it will turn out to be Magus of the Bazaar.

We could've had a good generic tribal support card or two. Other tribal focused blocks/sets gave us cards like Steely Resolve, Patriarch's Bidding, Mutavault, and Cavern of Souls. Commander 2017 had a number of good generic tribal support cards across its decks such as the kindred cycle, Path of Ancestry, and Herald's Horn. With Ixlan, we got like...Vanquisher's Banner which is a poor, non-blue man's Kindred Discovery.

I can't say the flip lands excited me as I have their original broken counterparts anyways, but I'll give them the credit for re-balancing these utility lands and being more accessible to players who can only dream of getting their original versions these days thanks to their ever-dwindling supply...

Yeah, Ixlan wasn't my thing hence why I said I never cared for its setting. I can't even say a lot of Magic was my thing though until Core 2019. Now that's the 90s Magic I missed so dearly and wish it wasn't such a rare thing to occur these days. Again though, it's only my dumb opinion.

The pirates are the closest thing to something I liked about Ixlan because one of the most feared pirate captains was an elderly woman than can steal anything including PEOPLE.

Ixlan was kinda a nothing block to me. The set was all about tribal but there weren't any good tribal support cards that weren't specific to the 4 tribes the set focused on. Since the block had absolutely no dragons in it whatsoever that meant my main EDH deck got literally nothing from the block :/. Perhaps the big thing against this block though is that the cards were relatively bland.

I can't say I care much for the setting either. Like, I am under the admittedly stupid opinion that Magic has been straying far from its high fantasy roots for too long so a Mesoamerican set that's also missing a number of staple magic races like elves, angels, and dragons didn't really do anything to make me feel like I'm playing my 90s Magic again. So yeah, I can't say I'd be too excited for a return.

The Eldrazi: They just highlight why I hate green players. Like, I'm mean when I Assassin's Trophy an Eye of Ugin but throwing Annihilator 4 at a board with hardly anything but lands is splendid. Alright then.

Numot, the Devastator: The only time I ever used that card in my The Ur-Dragon was because I took another Ur-Dragon player's Numot with my Dragonlord Silumgar and proceeded to show its owner exactly how much "fun" I would've been having if things went according to his plan. Otherwise I would never in a million years run it because 1: the card isn't even good and 2: that card is the exact opposite of what dragon tribal is supposed to be. If I wanted to do that I'd be playing something above that league, like actual STAX.

Overwhelming Splendor: I still like that card and part of me still has the opinion that when it's stuck on someone they kinda deserved it anyway. However, ever since that time I threw it on a Sliver player to make his field wipe-able only to see the other 2 players join forces to counter any attempt the sliver guy made to get it off him and get back in the game I just kinda felt an eerie Trade Secrets vibe from it so I kinda don't run it anymore.

Other than those examples I just try to match the ideals of the group I have joined for the day.

I actually do not mind chaos every once and a while. It can make a game hilarious and interesting. Again though, on a once in a while basis. Like anyone else I'd like to actually play my deck most of the time :p
