    Puppeteers and Puppet Masters
Strings fall slowly, dolls spin faster

    Fall. Fall. Little Doll
Listen close to the one who calls.
He'll string you up and dress you, miss.
And when he's done, trap you with a kiss

You're trapped now, you poor poor thing
You listened to what he had to sing.
Drawn in by song and then thrown around
Transformed by him without a sound

Scream all you want, nobody will hear
Your voice is controlled, it's him that you fear
Your master is waiting, he's coming for you
Take you off the shelf, make you do what you do

Your arms grow limp and your legs get weak
The look in your eyes says that you cannot speak
He comes up to you and brings you to the table
And struggle you try, but are not able.

Your hands get strings and your joints get nails
body is stiff and your breathing fails
Your mind is present and your vision is clear
But you can't move, and you start to hear

"Little Girl, Little Girl, now you are mine
Just be real still, and i'll string you up fine.
It's not so bad, you'll get used to it soon.
You'll join the others inside of my room"

Your skin becomes hard, your smile is plastered,
Your are now victim to the Puppet Master.

And all these stupid silly songs
Keep trying to catch your ear
    I'm trying desperately
It's just so hard to persevere
    And even if you listened
I never had much to say
Cause it's the same old song
    I've written for the day

    Shelter me oh genius words
    Just give me strength
    Just to pen these things
And give me peace to well her wings
And oh, oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
We will catch our ladies ear
We will win for us the girl

All these minstrels through the ages
That is really all we are
    Simply singing for the girl
That makes us try so very hard
    To craft the perfect limerick
    To wield unending woe
    To write such silly songs
    And the difference never know

    Shelter me oh genius words
    Just give me strength
    Just to pen these things
And give me peace to well her wings
And oh, oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
We will catch our ladies ear
We will win for us the girl

And I'll hold on to the dream
Of this beggar's plea and optimistic fantasy
Just hold the hand and drop the knee
    You're facing love
    You're embracing melody

    Shelter me oh genius words
    Just give me strength
    Just to pen these things
And give me peace to well her wings
And oh, oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
We will catch our ladies ear
We will win for us the girl

And carry on, oh carry on all you minstrels of the world
We will catch our ladies ear
We will win for us the girl

    -Cartel, The Minstrels Prayer

This entire song is just brilliant.

    Quote from muzykalscorpio
My initial thoughts to the album were not too positive. But it grew on me quite a bit.

My favorite track is "Alone Together." I think the best track is actually "Rat A Tat (Feat. Courtney Love)," and the worst / least favorite track is "The Mighty Fall (Feat. Big Sean)" -- with honorable bad mention to "Death Valley," which is semi forgettable to me, but still okay in there.

After I accepted that it wasn't the Fall Out Boy I was used to or hoping for (circa first three albums), I understood it was a natural progression for the boys -- what with Folie a Deux going this direction, and Patrick Stump's solo "Soul Punk" covering the other half -- I'm just more or less glad to have them back. May not be the same band I started with, but still a solid piece for me to enjoy.

I agree whole-hearted with you on all but one point: I couldn't stand the Courtney love song >.< maybe i should listen to it again?

edit: Idk.. courtney's talking (i can't call that singing.) just.. idk. I can't follow it. But Stumps singing in this one is phenominal. I can give it a good few listens. :]

Before I start this review, I would like to mention that "In Shallow Seas We Sail" is on my list of top 5 albums I have listened to in my life. It's a very exclusive list...

You've probably never heard of it

From the very first screams of "Cutthroat Collapse," to the emotion-filled lament of "Dear Death pt 2", this entire album has me entranced by beautiful lyrics and singing.

Emery has always been one of my top bands, but this album set the standard so high that I actually stopped listening to everything that came after. Eventually I stopped being such a stuck up prick.

Known fact: This band is Christian. I am agnostic and don't really care too much for the religious hooplah, but this band blows me away. I mean, with lyrics such as

    Red lights fading out
(I refuse to accept these excuses you’re making)
As you drive back to your house
(To save yourself from taking blame the only reason that you came at all)
And I’m here with my curbside goodbye.
This sting in my eyes won’t leave me tonight
As I stay awake to watch the day start without you.

It's heartbreaking and real, full of feelings that we have all felt. Yeah, it's sad, but if you go through life saying you've never been sad, then you are a liar.

or you're this guy. please don't be this guy.

But if you think this has nothing but sad songs in it, YOU ARE WRONG.

There is an entire song about a lying whore - "The Smile, The Face," and a song about falling in love - "A Sin to Hold On To."

"In Shallow Seas We Sail" is an iconic album in this bands anthology and I can't wait for them to put out more.

This album easily gets a 10/10 (mainly due to the fact that I listened to it for months straight and NEVER got tired of it.)

Listen to the entire album if you like the Screamy/Singy kind of singing. It has good harmonies, amazing guitar playing, and symphonic screaming.

lol person gets mad about a mainstream band being experimental

i like the album, i think it's quirky and has a lot of character.

I mean, it's okay to be experimental. Look at Linkin Park. They went from rap metal emo to whatever they are now... did them real well (granted i was a little pissed at them for a while..)

I personally believe Paramore did not do it well. They also no longer have two of the original members.

    Quote from Illinest
    I give this review a 2 out of 10.

I only gave you a 2 because you correctly identified that the new songs are crap. You failed to note that the old songs are also crap.

Oh, man, I completely forgot that people on the internet aren't allowed to have individual and differing opinions.

Fall Out Boy is BACK. And alive! And has a new Album! YAY!

The album is called Save Rock and Roll and it looks like this

    ooooo.... ahhhhhhh...

In this album they do a LOT of team ups with artists such as Big Sean, Courtney Love (where she clearly proclaims herself by saying "it's Courtney, *****" EXCUSE ME? WHAT YOU CALL ME?)

They even do a song with Elton. Freaking. John.

    yeah.. that guy..

Overall, an album jam packed with celebs and the result isn't too shabby. The first two songs of the album you can hear on the radio all the time, but then it jumps into a random assortment of fun.

One of my problems with the album is the intro to the song "Just One Yesterday" Reminded me WAYYY too much of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" Beyond that, the album has a good quality to it with a nice ending song featuring the lovely vocals and piano playing skills of Elton John. Very good comeback, FOB.

I give the new album an 8/10

Tracks to listen to: "Young Volcanos" and "Save Rock and Roll"

For those who have read my last two album reviews and thought: Oh man this guy just rips into the bad albums I am here to prove you wrong..

Bring Me The Horizon, the band who got their name from a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Known for their scream singing, this band has grown on mwah with their new album: Sempiternal.

Now.. let me get a dictionary out and see what the definition of that word iss...

    Adjective
    Eternal and unchanging; everlasting.

Oh, you. This album is totally different from their previous albums. BECAUSE IT INCLUDES THE LEAD SINGER ACTUALLY SINGING.

Yes, ladies and gents. This hardcore album includes melodic and AWESOME singing. The first track reels me in with the screaming and then the breakdown of what sounds like a mix of a dj remixing screams and then the lead singer.. screaming.. LOTS of screaming.. but you can hear the emotion in his voice and actually understand the words

The words are powerful and move me to no end Not to mention: very catchy.

From the opening screams to the ending ones, the album just grabs at your frustration and your pain and your anger and just combines them in a tormented lament and it's awesome.

No tears, no sadness. Just man feels, yo.

had bro feels before it was cool

I could head bang to this album all day. Many faithful people (like.. religious folk..) may not like this album due to it's controversial "F*** your faith" songs (i can pick two songs out that your faith goers will be like, "Oh that man is Satan")

Overall, i give this album a 10/10. Excellently crafted with a mixture of singing, screaming, piano, AND A FREAKING VIOLIN!

Songs to listen to: "Go to Hell For Heavens Sake" and "The Crooked Youth"

Haley. Sit down.. let's have a chat.

What happened? This new album sucks. I can't even pick which track to start with..

The sound is just different. And it isn't a good different. You got bands that change their sound and do a good job with it (i.e Fall Out Boy and MCR) But you just.. annoyed me with the entire album! Your voice is beautiful and you don't even use it well.

Your last album went BEST SELLER and this one is.... annoying.

I mean, it's too weird, to quirky, and you try way too many new things. You just changed your entire sound and I don't like it.

My main issue was the very last track where you have a SEVEN MINUTE GUITAR SOLO. I timed it. IT was long. it was repetitive. It. Was. Bad.

What happened to songs like "Misery Business" or "Ignorance" Those songs were rocking and awesome and now your one hit of your new album "Still into You" sounds like.. You get something caught in your throat at the end of each verse. You are kind of sing talking and it is.. annoying (that's three times i've used that term.)

Overall, i couldn't finish the album because it was long and repetative and didn't have any of the Paramore sounds that i love. Overall i give this album a 3 out of 10. I give it a three because Haley Williams is HOT and her voice is amazing.. I mean look.. at.... um.....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *shakes fist* LADY GA GAAAAAAAA!!!

I have always been a huge fan of Thirty Seconds to Mars. I'd give their last 3 albums between an 8/10 and a 9/10

But this new album does not live up to their hard rock standards. (I use hard rock very loosely, so all you nay-sayers be pacified!)

I love me some Jared Leto. I have quite the man crush on him. I do believe it's the eyes....

Those close together, blue balls of endless galaxies that beckon me to a new universe while "Welcome to the Universe" is quietly playing

    Where was I? Oh yes..

This album disappointed me. Let's start with the intro. Orchestral and digital sounds meshing together to form a sort of battle-cry-esque sound that SHOULD set the tone for the rest of the album... nope! The first word you hear is... "Love" - which, coincidentally, is the first word in the album title. Oh 30 sex, thank you for reminding me every few songs the next word in your album title. These words have NOTHING to do with the songs at hand. You may think "Up in the Air" has something to do with love when he sings the words, "I'll wrap my hands around your neck so tight we'll love"... No, Jared. That is not love.

That is murder (unless you are into that kind of thing... then it's just ****in kinky)

Choking the chicken is a lot different when the chicken has you in a choke hold - "HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT, ****ER?"

I just couldn't get into the album. I will say that there are a few good songs. "End of All Days" is a beautiful song and Leto's voice nails whatever it is that is supposed to be nailed in that. But then you have tracks such as "Convergence," which is a xylophone solo that goes on for 2 minutes and Leto doesn't even sing. And we are reminded of the LAST word in the album name, "Dreams."

Another issue I had was the ending of "Pires of Varanasi," which reminded me of every intense movie trailer ever. A huge foghorn sort of sound. Silence. Repeat the sound. Silence. Etc... Look up any huge summer blockbuster teaser trailer and you'll see what I am talking about.

All in all it has some good sounds, but it doesn't do it for me. I give this album a 6/10.
