That's the general I want to build around! Intet seems super cool :3.
I have a gist of how to play EDH but a little lost on what is banned and what isn't and some general interactions and such, I know PG linked me some stuff a while back and I tried finding what he posted and I couldn't (sorry PG if you read this!) could someone help me out?
Radiant Fountain scares me, being colorless since my deck can be super color intensive since it does have double blue, double black, and double green spells in the deck. I totally agree about Ashiok but she's a wee bit expensive, so unless I am able to trade for one I wont be able to get one since I don't wanna buy it and I don't wanna crack Theros packs as my prizes, but I'd love to have her in there.
It wasn't too bad, but I really don't know what else to tick up in the deck if I am ticking the Bile Blight numbers down. Perhaps another Ultimate Price or Anticipate? I am not sure. What do you think?
4 Satyr Wayfinder
1 Pearl Lake Ancient
1 Silumgar, the Drifting Death
1 Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Instances
3 Anticipate
3 Dig Through Time
2 Murderous Cut
4 Bile Blight
2 Ultimate Price
3 Sultai Charm
Sorcery
3 Crux of Fate
2 Treasure Cruise
1 Nissa Worldwaker
1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
1 Liliana Vess
2 Kiora, the Crashing Wave
Land
4 Opulent Palace
4 Dismal Backwater
4 Jungle Hollow
3 Temple of Mystery
4 Swamp
4 Island
3 Forest
1 Back to Nature
1 Virulent Plague
1 Drown In Sorrow
1 Silence the Believers
2 Disdainful Stroke
3 Negate
3 Duress
3 Feed the Clan
*Notes*
The lands are a bit budget, if I get the other scry or fetchlands needed for the manabase I will of course add them in. Liliana Vess was kinda underwhelming except once, I would like to move her to the sideboard and replace her with a Garruk, Apex Predator if/when I get one in the maindeck. Feed the Clan in the sideboard I never used, usually red is rampant at my FNM but this last time there wasn't a single person playing the deck so I can't say if they deserve to be in the sideboard or not, perhaps 1 or 2 copies is enough.
One of my favorite current Modern decks:
3 Cloudgoat Ranger
4 Restoration Angel
3 Mulldrifter
3 Riftwing Cloudskate
3 Aven Riftwatcher
Sorcery
4 Serum Vision
2 Supreme Verdict
Instants
4 Path to Exile
2 Remand
4 Ghostly Prison
Planeswalkers
2 Jace, Architect of Thought
1 Gideon Jura
Land
4 Glacial Fortress
4 Celestial Colonnade
3 Seachrome Coast
2 Flooded Strand
4 Island
8 Plains
1 Circle of Protection: Red
1 Jotun Grunt
1 Monastery Siege
2 Detention Sphere
2 Suppression Field
4 Negate
4 Kor Firewalker
*Notes*
The 1 Gideon Jura in the main deck was another Remand, but I have been less than impressed with Remand as of late, it is either amazing or really lacking so I am testing Gideon, and cutting Remand down to 2 copies. The Jotun Grunt, Monastery Siege, and 2 Suppression fields slots in the sideboard are always changing as far as what I think I need going into the next tournament but the other slots are fairly mainstay for where I play and rarely change.
One of my favorite current Standard decks:
4 Mantis Rider
4 Seeker of the Way
Sorcery
4 Hordeling Outburst
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Treasure Cruise
Instants
4 Stoke the Flames
4 Wild Slash
3 Raise the Alarm
Enchantments
4 Jeskai Ascendancy
1 Citadel Siege
4 Mystic Monastery
4 Shivan Reef
1 Battlefield Forge
2 Flooded Strand
4 Temple of Triumph
2 Temple of Enlightment
2 Temple of Epiphany
4 Plains
1 Mountain
1 Island
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Outpost Siege
1 glare of Heresy
2 Erase
3 Arc Lightning
2 Hushwing Gryff
2 Icefall Regent
3 Disdainful Stroke
*Notes*
It's sort've a hybrid between Jeskai aggro and Jeskai Tokens, I really really am in love with Mantis Rider, it wins so many games for me, but Jeskai Ascendency is so very powerful and can pull you out of nearly unwinnable situations and I wanted to play with both .
That is what i thought as well . Helps you fall asleep snuggling with your favorite stuffed animal .
In other news, I was going to try out a new card shop today but seeing as my entire area is under severe storm and tornado warnings this evening and tonight I rather not be out in that, so I will try it next week and go to the same one I usually go to tomorrow for FNM. It's Standard tomorrow, not sure if I want to play Sultai control or Jeskai Tokens.
Pg - I'd probably wait a week unless you really want it now or think it'll be sold before then.
The rain is here and it was so gloomy outside earlier today. All it makes me want to do is sleep lol.
And PG, thank you very much for your post on my thread earlier, very sweet of you to take your time to write a response like that and it is very much appreciated , if you'd like the specific answers to what you asked, just ask me and I can pm them to you, or whatever you like .
So I have four things, I'd like opinions on:
First thing
So Friday was FNM and as I usually do I go play FNM at the same card shop I have been for the last 3-4 years now. At first nothing was too out of place until more people started showing up (I am always early/one of the first people there on Fridays, well before FNM starts.) The card shop owner started telling people that were coming in of their new deal on Khans of Tarkir card packs they have going on and I overheard what it was, as I was texting on my phone, passing time before the tournament started. Now, as I heard and understood it, they (they, being the owner) carefully opened the packs, and if it wasn't something they needed/wanted they inserted all the entirety of the cards back into the packs (and if it was something they wanted, they took the entirety of the pack and didn't just insert the left over cards). I believe they sell them regular for $3.50 and for these packs that were searched were $2.50 instead. It was also said that by them, that mythics and rares such were still available and left in the packs somewhere in the box, as they were only searching for a specific few cards (since the store was saturated in most of of the cards from Khans) and they only did this with one box of Khans to see how it would go over. At first I didn't really think much of it, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was particularly shady. Can they do this, or is this actually not a thing they are allowed to do? Thought's on this?
Second thing
I have noticed lately, that our card shop has been getting more younger kids coming and playing in the tournaments which I think is great for the game's future and gaming in that area in general (the majority of everyone is in high school/in their 20's with a few older than that) but also lately I have noticed the card shop owner is easily irritable towards the younger crowd, telling them to hurry up, they are the last match when their is still plenty of time left in the round, things of that nature and not in a professional manner such as what a judge would do/say when someone was taking a particularly long time making decisions but in a more mean/annoyed way as I watched these two playing (since I finished my match) when the owner did this and the kids were going at a nice pace, just their general power level of their cards were lower (because younger kids can't drop $500+ on a MTG deck) and taking them longer to finish because of it. The card shop owner, was also talking to another person, laughing and joking with them at the counter (I was standing near there, waiting for the new pairings for the next round to be posted) and one of the kids tried to chime in with their own thoughts and the owner quickly cut them off telling the kid that they wasn't talking to them, and to mind their own business. Just both situations left a bad taste in my mouth, what are your feelings towards this?
Third thing
The last 6 months or so I'd say, no one really wants to have practice/playtest rounds before or between rounds in tournaments with me when I ask and I think it's because I win a lot (I don't want to come off as bragging, really I don't) they will tell me they aren't feeling like playing but then not 5 minutes later I will see them across the room playing against someone else and this happens very frequently. I am an extremely nice (a lot of the time, going out of my way to be nice), well mannered, good hygiene person and I love helping other people there, so the only thing I can figure out is what I said above and it makes me feel really down, because it feels like I am not fun to play against to others. So really I only get to play 4-6 matches per week (during the actual FNM itself) and I'm not really satisfied at the end of the FNM as far as getting my fill on playing for the week, which brings me to my last thing.
Fourth thing
There is another card shop, the same distance as the one I go to now from me, in the opposite direction and I have been there 3 times in the last year or so and it draws an older crowd, 20s+ generally. Unlike my current card shop I go to (which doesn't allow profanity) this one does and while I don't mind either way, they can be quite loud and every time I left from there I left with a headache, (nothing bad happened, it's because they are loud) but they are always up for practicing before or in between rounds of a tournament. The tournaments are quite big which I like (generally 30+ people) and the prize payout is good. From what I could tell the card shop owner there and staff are very professional/but like to joke and have fun too. I am a generally shy person, not the greatest with change (in fact I really hate it), and can be indecisive but I am thinking I should start going to the new card shop because my current one is starting to sour on me which I ain't happy about because it used to be such a great and friendly place to play but I don't know what to do about it without being confrontational, which is something I like to avoid. I suppose my main fear with going somewhere new is I don't know anyone there (which I am an awkward person anyways), and it's like having to start all over again as far as making new friends and learning everyone's names and such (which is something I like to do, once I am comfortable at a new place and feel settled in).
Any constructive thoughts or anything on all of this is highly appreciated, thank you :).
Anyone gonna do anything fun this weekend?
Also, for everyone instead, I ain't the biggest fan of pranks.
This made me laugh .
I've just never been a fan of it unless there is absolutely nothing that has the slimmest chance of making my deck because the way I see it, you may be hating a card from a possible 1-2 people (assuming an 8 person pod) but you need to make your deck strong as you can against 8 different decks, in 3 different rounds.
I also tabled an Epic Confrontation as well in my pod when I drafted Red/Green, I think lots are underestimating the power of a dragon punch.
I still liked Wrestlemania 30 just a little bit more overall because I am a fan of the underdog story of Daniel Bryan, but I can't wait for Wrestlemania 32 where I think they will break the all time attendance record and go well over 100,000 people at Wrestlemania, which means that card whatever it ends up being will be STACKED.
