My problem with Jace isn't just power-level. It is price.

I understand your ban list is just hypothetical, but this isn't a very good reason to ban a card (or leave it banned). In fact, I think that price would be a bigger factor into unbanning it than leaving it banned (though price shouldn't be a determining factor for either option) since then they could actually print it in Modern Masters 2 (or 3 or 4). It is entirely possible that unbanning Jace would cause Jace's price to jump, but I don't think it would be quite as severe as you think. Plus, the ability to reprint him easier could lower his overall price after a reprinting or two.

I could be wrong, but if the format can currently handle $150 Tarmogofys, I think it could handle a Jace that doubled in price (which would put it around the price tag of Goyfs), if it would even get that high.

Hey, Thanks for comment, definitely liking the Power Conduit. considered cauldron haze before but a large portion of my dudes have 1 toughness so I cant use that one well. but yea...power conduit, reusable and cheap!

    With regards to Cauldron Haze:

This offers some synergy with Blood Artist and Grafted Wargear, Essentially, you can equip all of your undying creatures with Grafted Wargear, forcing you to sacrifice each one when the Wargear becomes unattached. Each creature then comes back with a +1/+1 counter (due to Undying). You then give them all persist and do the same thing. Then when they come back onto the battlefield, they all die again because of the -1/-1 counter, assuming their toughness is 1. Then Undying triggers again and brings them all back. You can then sacrifice them all again if you want (though they won't have persist obviously).

This allows you to get a lot of triggers out of Blood Artist with a potentially smaller number of creatures on the battlefield. So instead of getting two triggers per creature, this card bumps it up to four triggers per creature for a very low mana cost.

You can just check Gatherer (or click on the link in your post) to see the Gatherer rulings. Here is the relevant one on this card in Gatherer:

7/1/2013 A creature with a divinity counter put on it due to the {C} ability retains indestructible even after Bant stops being the face-up plane card.

  • posted a message on There is no room for casuals at FNM.
I have to somewhat agree with some of the comments people have made. I played at FNM's during ISD-RTR standard and while the card pool itself was awesome, I didn't like playing at FNM. I found the people playing were a little more cutthroat than I expected them to be for an event that is supposed to lean more towards having fun than just straight up winning.

That being said, I think it was just the people there. They didn't really interact much and it seemed like everyone was there to "play - win - collect packs". There didn't seem to be much desire to simply play to have fun and let the packs as a prize be secondary to just playing Magic.

I compare this to Modern events, which arguably should seem less "casual" but the stores I play at (3 consistently) all seem to have great people to play against. They interact as people and talk about the decks they play as well as the game itself rather than just being on auto-pilot to win with their deck. I still like deck brewing, and when I play I like playing certain types of decks. I like the idea of these events because even if I come up with a deck idea, bring it to the store, and end up losing, I find it fun just to get out to play against other people.

I think one of the issues with FNM is that it is well known. I mean, everyone knows about FNM because it is a big thing that Wizards pushes. It is mentioned on their website a lot and they even have promos just for these events. I know it isn't always the best answer, but sometimes it is worthwhile to try to find another store to play at, or find an event for that format at that store on another day, if they have it. Sometimes these might feel like your having more fun just because you are playing against different people and decks than you would see at FNM.

This...doesn't actually work against Show&Tell, does it?

I mean, if you put this in by S&T's effect, it doesn't actually exile their Griselbrand/Emrakul, correct? Obviously, it works if you can get it out there before (or in response to) their Show&Tell.

No, it does not, unless they cast it in response to Show and Tell being cast (as you mentioned). This means that they won't be able to put a creature onto the battlefield without it being exiled, so they will probably just choose something else. Keep in mind that you obviously won't be able to put a creature onto the battlefield either without it getting exiled

  • posted a message on can i redirect my own earthquake damage to my planeswalker?
No, you can't. The rules allow you to redirect non-combat damage being dealt to an opponent to one of their planeswalkers instead. You cannot redirect damage from a source you control to a planeswalker you control.

The relevant rule is 306.7 in the CR

    Or:

Reef Worm + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle for infinite 9/9 Kraken tokens...

This also generates infinite mana since you net 2 mana each time through (sac 0/1 Worm, 3/3 token, 6/6 token) and you only need 4 of the 6 mana generated to pay for Nim Deathmantle's trigger

Another thing I noticed is that the languages seem messed up. Specifically, I was looking at Russian cards and it seems that there are entries for Russian Beta cards (among other sets) and I am pretty sure cards weren't printed in Russian until around 9th Edition.

Oh, and thanks for doing this.

Are the Collector's Edition and International Collector's Edition sets part of this file? I didn't see them so I just want to make sure i haven't missed anything.

If they are not, is there any thought to getting them added?

Here is an example that shows why you would still potentially take damage:

    Mogg Fanatic

If the object still had to be on the battlefield to deal damage, this card wouldn't work at all.

It depends on the card doing the exiling. Restoration Angel puts it back under the current controller's control as it specifies "your control". "You" always means the controller of the spell or ability.

Oblivion Ring specifies that it comes back into play under its Owner's Control so it doesn't matter who controlled it last and Banishing Light has reminder text stating the same thing.

  • posted a message on Red Mana vs. Mountain? Deck Building Help?
You could always run fetchlands, such as Wooded Foothills or Scalding Tarn so you can get your Mountain when you want. Another option, which works well with fetchlands, is to run Shock Lands. Stomping Ground and Steam Vents also produce the colors you actually need while allowing Glacial Crasher to attack.

I know this increases the cost of the deck, and I am not sure the budget you are trying to stick to, but they are options.

  • posted a message on I need as many infinite combos as I can get in one deck!
Well, the fewer cards that you have, the more consistency you will have.

That being said, here are a couple of things I have seen in EDH:

Infinite Mana (You will need something to use the mana for, such as Exsanguinate)
    Palinchron + Deadeye Navigator
    Power Artifact + Basalt Monolith

Lots of Spells (For Tendrils of Agony or Grapeshot or any other card with storm)
Future Sight + Sensei's Divining Top + Cloud Key (or anything else that makes your artifact spells cost 1 less). This has the added benefit of allowing you to draw your deck

  • posted a message on end hostilities, indestructible
End Hostilities doesn't care whether the creatures are destroyed to destroy the things attached to them. In your example, Ensoul Artifact is destroyed even though Darksteel Citadel is not, and the Citadel is no longer a creature.
