Just started playing this deck over the weekend, and 2 hours after I picked it up, I played in a 6 round tourney and finished 4-2 losing to Abzan and Burn for a 14th out of 58 players, narrowly missing Top 8. This deck is the real deal and I love it! I think I played Togores' list that I found in the thread -1 LS +1 Conflagrate because I was afraid of the meta *****ting on LS.
After this experience I have some questions as I attempt to fine-tune my list. The main deck felt great, I'm just changing the mana base a little bit. My biggest question lies in the sideboard.
I have never had so many sideboard cards I've wanted to play in a deck before. My meta is rather unpredictable and it varies from brews and tier 2-3 decks to tier 1 decks, and any deck can win any given week. How do I construct a sideboard for that? How many wincons do I play in the 75, 2 or 3? Do I board out a wincon if I bring in the sideboarded wincon? Also, what do I board out if I'm against blue decks where I can't board out Boseiju/Pacts, or if I'm boarding in like 6-7 cards against BGx?
Lots of questions, I know, but I'd really appreciate the help.
Stupid question time. I've been playing the Mono-White build of D&T for ages. I've lost tabs on the meta since Theros block essentially. Why are people in this thread moving away from mono builds even though the old style builds are still the ones putting up numbers? (I don't have the time to go back through the thread all over again, so reader's digest version please)
Also, how are people finding Serra Avenger to perform? Every time I put it back in my build I regret it and end up taking it out.
Good question to which I have no answer. Still trying to set up a match with mtg1905, but we live on opposite sides of the world practically, so this is proving slightly difficult. Just thought I'd post an update.
I'm really excited to play in my first IQ. I need to get back into Modern after taking a lengthy hiatus, and this seems like a great opportunity to get some testing in. I hope we can get this going.
i solitaired probably 10 games last night and i had a few problems.
1. Running 5 colors felt really bad. White (and to an extent red save for pyroclasm) felt mostly unnecessary
2. Even with a functional 8 primevals, I still had a hard time drawing them
3. this deck just dies without an amulet
keep in mind that this was just a goldfish, there were no thoughtsiezes or slaughter games involved. It seems really combo-dependent and fragile. It seems to just roll over to so many things (Jund, Burn, RG tron, counterspells.dec)
Most of my logic involved using the advice I was given when I first built the deck (hence the Pacts)
As for the countering tarmogoyfs thing, that was a poorly worded example. Sometimes countering goyf(or another threat) will keep enough pressure off of me vs U-based tempo to wait til turn 6-7 to go off through permission.
The USZ main is just me not wanting to play without a wincon in the main (burn all the wishes b/c of hate/extracted wishes) It's just a habit of mine.
I really like the 1 bounce 1 top main idea! probably going to try it.

The sideboard cards I have thought to play:
I'm sure I missed some

Am I doing it wrong?
