Here's a thought: Charge us an annual fee. It seems that most here would rather stay on MTGSalvation, and if it means we need to pay a few dollars to keep it alive it seems like a better option than the forums dying.
Reminds me of when IMDB closed its boards. We need somewhere to go but there won't be an option that is good enough.
I loathe this combo, and I've played it two days in a row. It is an instant win. I can't think of a way to stop Laboratory Maniac from resolving (I'm playing Karador, Ghost Chieftain), and once he hits play, it is too late. It seems like my choices are: Have Krosan Grip in hand, or have Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite in play. Any other tips for combating this?
As far as I can tell, we have not cards referencing Oedipus. Also missing Achilles, a card with 1000 ships, Perseus' bronze-plated shield, the Spartoi (a dragon that makes soldiers when it dies!).
I know that they had tried to make Persephone and Herakles... maybe these cards were pushed to a future 'Return to Theros' block.
I could also see it triggering on combat damage (look at the number of cards equal to the damage dealt by your creature).
1B
13/13
~ gets -X/-X, where X is your life total.
Bestow: 2BB
Enchanted creature gets +13/+13.
Enchanted creatures gets -X/-X, where X is your life total.
Though it would be insane with Varolz, the Scar-Striped in Standard.
-X/-X could work, by the way.
Something like:
Nyx Hater
1B
2/2
~ has -X/-X, where X is the number of creatures in your graveyard.
Bestow: 1BB
Enchanted creatures gets +2/+2 and -X/-X, where X is the number of creatures in its controller's graveyard.
Could also count non-basic lands, or creatures in play, or enchantments, or hand size.
I would be disappointed if we didn't see one.
Nobody can really guess what role this spell will have.
And I do not think red has the ability to make creatures lose Indestructible. That's more of a blue thing (Turn to Frog).
But who knows, you could be right.
4$ in Montreal... though some stores add taxes (4.60). My lgs charges 4$ with tax, and gives a discount when buying 6+ packs.
At the beginning of each end step, if an ability an opponent controls caused you to discard a card this turn, return [cardname] from the graveyard to your hand.
When [blank] enters the battlefield, lose life equal to your devotion to black.
Or something that cares about opponent's devotion to colors.
I think there will be something new with the two-color gods. They won't have devotion to two colors (seems too powerful)... unless there is a drawback.
We also didn't see a hexproof bestow creature. I would expect one.
Maybe some 'Protection from ..' bestow creatures?
I think there is a lot of room. As for being constructed-worthy... only 2 or 3 are acceptable so far: Boon Satyr, Nighthowler (Jarad!!), and maybe the Archon (Compare to Angelic Destiny). I do not expect to see more than a few playable ones.
But it seems that the green promo creature is the weakest. I guess we should wait to see what green enchantments we'll get.
I personally feel that Blue and White have the strongest promo creatures. Tough decision!!
I think y'all are just spoiled by amazingly strong mana bases.
And really, that last ability is just odd.
Bident of Thassa has two parts that work well together. I feel like this should be something similar. If it is deathtouch, then the activated ability should be to grant pinging flyers to your creatures to at least get some synergy.
And gaining life? Flavor seems way off.
I didn't say Prometheus gave evil to mankind.... I said Zeus brought evil to punish Prometheus (for stealing the fire).
