My point is that the mage is far more versatile when it comes to multiplayer games, or in a casual playgroup where crazy stuff could happen. Even if you get a 2/2 wizard when someone pops a living death thats better than not getting him
Or maybe I'm just over valuing it because I love to redirect/copy spells in commander
For more "casual" multiplayer play, Dualcaster Mage is far better than fork. You can blink it, reanimate it, make silly things with rite of replication, Riptide Laboratory (venser+vendilion+snapcaster package includes this), skullclamp it, or something as basic as blocking a big creature/utility creature.
But competitively speaking, it's only a cute card.
Overseer is not a vindicate on a stick like Angel of Despair BUT you can do some combat tricks with it, the 2/2 tokens are very relevant imo.
Wake the Dead is stupid insane with ETB creatures... since you don't exile them after they leave the battlefield (like flashback or unearth) you can sac them, return them to the hand, so many options
Cockatrice lol, my group is so lazy and won't gather during the week, and the local store owner isn't helping either.
I still need to get my hands of some crucial cards, like a few shocklands/fetchlands, thoughtseize, wrath of god/damnation, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Bitterblossom but when we play we usually don't run cutthroat decks (infect rafiq). After the banning on Zur and Derevi the meta is not so excruciating (abusing retarded commanders seams fun to some people in my playgroup ).
The deck still needs tweaking here and there, because we lack of U we need to compensate with othercards. But I still think Zurgo can be a good and competitive commander.
Building Maelstrom Wanderer and Zurgo at the same time is hurting my wallet, but EDH is so addictive
Ha, good ol' Defense Grid wrecking blue players.
I was kinda pissed because I couldn't sell/trade away my foil grid but now it founds a place to stay
What about the built-in-price-of-glory shaman and the enchantment itself ?
After some testing, I dropped the swords and stoneforge/steelshaper's gift, they felt clunky sitting in my hand most of the time and they mostly were equipped to some random creature instead.
I always wanted to ask, why not Vendilion Clique ? Since cascading into counterspells is terrible, there are not many ways to disrupt our opponents besides from LD/sweepers.
In my opinion, your list is more oriented for 1 v 1. You need less 1 time effects and more card draw.
On top of my head, you need whispersilk cloak, more tutors and tokken generatos + Skullclamp. Less spot removal and more board wipes, if you can run a few token generators the wraths won't affect you much.
Instead of Zealous Conscripts, you could use Molten Primordial for massive damage or the 5/5 flying sphinx that does a similar thing.
Ob Nixilis, Unshackled is insane in multiplayer, even more if you can abuse his +1/+1 abbility with token generators and some sac-oulet.
At first, dig and cruise look clunky but after some testing, fetchlands, cantrips, counterspells and removal get you delve very quick and just after we used almost all our resources. I like Dig Through Time more, instant speed and that pseudo scry is really really nice.
I know, but top decking order when you already have geist on the battlefield isn't bad ?
It isn't better to just run treachery in that case ?
I'm not saying that Order is bad, I'm just pondering better options. I love controlling other commanders, but I tend to draw those type of cards at the wrong time maybe its just my bad experiences talking
Order of Succession: 5 targets are NOT near enough, I don't know what would happen if they use spot removal on your seccond creature when you cast Order... maybe you lose geist instead ?
I would rather play Treachery over shackles, you will get your lands untapped for counterspells/removal and you won't risk having your opponent solve something terrible, or worst, get your artifact destroyed during combat and block your geist.
If you cast shackles and not steal a creature so you can counter/use removal, then you are giving your opponent time to do something about the board state and you did nothing for that turn. Treachery affects the board state immediately and it did't cost you any mana.
Anyway, I haven't had time to test geist vs narset, how bad is this match up for us ?
Or maybe I'm just over valuing it because I love to redirect/copy spells in commander
Volcanic Offering and Impact Resonance are any good in this deck ? is something else viable here ?
Do you think Narset (with ramp and combat-doublers) ouplace Maelstrom Wanderer ?

I would also add more mana rocks.
