I'm relatively new to modern and I was wondering about the card selection:
_Do you play discard (2 to 3 Inquisitions of Kozilek) in a meta where combo is prevalent? When do you usually want to play discard mainboard ?
_What is your recomendation for a meta with lots of robots/affinity, burn/rdw, grixis delver and a few merfolk decks?
I mean, do I focus on the combo by playing a straight U/R twin deck with a few more cycle (sleight of hand)? or just by keeping Tasigur/Vendilion Clique on the SB and adding more removal to the main deck is enough?
_How do you build your decks around certain local metas? (like a very aggro meta, or a tron/combo centric meta).
Personally, I like it. My meta is heavy in artifact hate and its hard to cast Maelstrom after the third time since I get half my mana aceleration destroyed.
Hey guys,
After doing some testing and determining that this deck is a blast to play, I think I'm gonna try and build it. But one question -- what cards from this deck do we expect to be reprinted in MM2, and how much will they drop? Thanks.
I believe Serum Visions will be reprinted.
These "Zendikar, Mirrodin, Ravnica, Lorwyn, Kamigawa, and Alara" sets will be included in MM2.
The rest is speculation.
Right now, nobody is buying serum visions, so I got 4 of them with puca points almost inmediately. My reasoning is that regardless the reprint, I will need them and if they don't get reprinted then the value will go up. After MM2 is released, the demand for them will be crazy since people are speculating about them right now.
If you already have snapcasters and fetchlands, the deck is relatively cheap.
We just lost Fastbond... But gained Crucible, Top and Orb... Sound like a fair trade tbh :3
I thought Orb was bad for us, it takes 1 removal and we will have to wait for ages to get MW online again.
I understand that we have lots of artifact ramp, but I don't believe we can reach 10 mana with most of our lands under orb...
Well, Spell Snare would have had the same result but with better results as the game drags on. I also love Spell Pierce but it depends more on your meta. I would bring Snares in a big tourny imo.
Isn't that a whole different deck ? a rogue deck may I say.
I was wondering, Engineered Explosives are great vs tokkens, but what other decks would it hate ?
There will be more dudes on their side than yours, and if you are getting ganged all the time (like myself), you will prefer 4 damage to all thingies every time you draw it.
It reminds me of Kiora, but I don't believe it to be Wanderer material.
I'm glad Karn Liberated is going to be reprinted, I haven't gotten my copy yet.
I was adviced against this kind of deck because of my aggro-heavy meta (with some combo decks like Twin, Scapeshift and Tokken decks), but I really love these kind of decks.
So, I wanted to ask which version would work better in my meta ? I'm thinking of pyroclasms and Courser of Kruphix main deck in a Naya/almost-creatureless shell.
What is your experience with burn/affinity/delver/BW tokkens decks ?
I'm definitely going to recommend some form of Splinter Twin, then. Twin has game vs all of those decks, especially Tron. If you can live through the first couple turns of Affinity, the game is usually yours (Shatterstorm and Ancient Grudge are powerful cards).
I try to avoid building Twin and Scapeshift, personal preferences. I'm reading about Ad Nauseam and Storm meanwhile, but I guess combo is the line I should be picking, right ?
I just hope all those Chalice of the Void, Leyline of Sanctity and Spellskite won't wreck me ( aggro thrives in my meta because of all that sideboard hate ).
Thanks for the responses darksteel88 & MrM0nd4y, I opened the tab from the first post and completely miss the template:
Favorite Playstyle: I love combo decks but I also like tron decks and midrange. How Competitive:Local Tournaments (15 to 30 people) but most of these people have full decks and have a good amount of knowledge about modern, they play to win (no casual decks) and I would like to do stand a chance. Favorite Cards/Colors: I love "dynamic" decks or intricate interactions (that is why I mentioned Loam) Budget:300 to 400 inicially, I could expand my budget as time goes by. Staples Owned: 2 of each fetchlands (khans) + 1 Marsh Flat. The rest are legacy/EDH cards
Hi, I'm mostly an EDH player but I want to get into this format.
I want to do well in small tournaments and not invest 1.200 bucks in a tier 1 deck (I already own 2 of each Khans fetchlands and a marsh flats).
My meta is heavy in aggro (several robots/RDW/Tokkens/a couple of Zoo/delvers/one merfolk) and GR Trons/a couple of scapeshifts/and a junk player.
I'm learning towards Assault-Loam and Instant-Reanimator (with oozes and Borborygmos Enraged version), but I would like your opinions first
I mean its just lots of ramp spells so what are you cascading into? Any chance the deck will work without capture of jingzhou and temporal manipulation?I mean those are realy expensive
The way I see Zurgo is like Ruhan; a control shell and the win condition is our general.
We don't have blue but we can play alot of wraths and LD recklessly

I would consider it for 1v1, but for multiplayer ? mmmmh
Personally, I prefer Crater Hellion.
It deserves testing, thats for sure.
