    Question for you lean mean green players.

    UW is beating down Aggro with Terminus.

    How do you deal with it?

    Is there any card in your arsenal that can do something about it?

    I can only think of Chalice of the Void and off color counter cards. Both options are neither great. :/

    spec.ops I enjoy your fast paced YT videos to get a feel for the deck, keep posting them!

    btw: r-click "attack with all creatures" will make your life easier Grin

    Haha thanks man! I am new to this, but I am learning. I have now started combining all match rounds into one video. And, I plan to do audio in the December so my matches will be real time captures.

    Oh, and since all my videos are replays, MTGO for some reason shows me clicking on all my creatures when it’s actually MTGOs replay feature. I do not know why they have it that way but it’s how they have it captured. :S

    Hmmm...I can see that if two costing creatures make up a good portion of the deck.

    Might of the Masses looks like a great one-of card to include in Gruul Goblins/Gobots.

    Anyone looking at Might of the Masses? I see it as another Aspect if Hydra.

    Seems like a decent card; however, having the two extra mana is going to be an issue early game. Maybe by turn four in traditional goblins you can activate his effect. But, where its going to activate is off a Whacker. I think he will get more use in Gobots since it packs eight zero costing creatures and signal pest increases the attack. You would just have to select the trigger for pest prior to Banneret.

    a few thoughts though (I am only theorycrafting as I didnt play the deck yet myself):

    - no lightning bolt? It is a card I cant really imaging cutting from a r-aggro deck, it is just too efficient. Gives additional reach, clears the way
    - did you try cutting below 16 lands? with the opals it feels much
    - with 16 gobbos wouldnt you try to fit at least 1-2 goblin grenades for extra reach?
    - 4x omnithopter seems a bit much, its dmg output is relatively limited even with whack effects
    - hope of ghirapur seems like a bad card overall, would need to see it in work to get convinced
    - I feel like the added value of cavern doesnt make up for the constraints it puts on other-then goblin red spells

    • No, I have not cut below 16 lands. If you feel that lands need to be cut I would suggest adding fetches over cutting.
    • Ornithopter is needed to in the same way robots needs Ornithopter.
    • HoG has aided me quite a few times in sealing the deal, but Burning-Tree Emissary is a great alternative. Both are choice picks at this time.
    • Cavern of Souls puts little to no tax on non-goblin cards minus Kuldotha Rebirth. If you add BTE, then you will need to reduce CoS down to three and play test.
    • As for the burn, I only support Atarka's Command for this deck build. For Lighting Bolt and Goblin Grenade, I could answer this question; however, my response will not alter your opinion. You need to play the deck to understand it better.

    I have just uploaded matches against:
    • UWR
    • Goblins
    • Storm Home Brew
    • Hollow One
    • Stompy
    • UW

    thanks for the videos.

    do you play the artifact version a lot? can you tell us a bit more about it?

    Im on classic R / Rw 8-whack lists, I saw a simmiliar list to yours somewhere on hareruya but was a little reluctant to invest in opals to try it Wink

    Yes. I've played it for years. It is very fast and focuses on simply going wide and hitting often. Note, there are zero interaction creatures and spells outside of Hope of G...(I can't spell that card for my life). I do not know what hareruya is, but there are versions without Mox Opal you can play. Those builds make use of Burning-Tree Emissary and Atarka's Command.

    Hey guys,

    I finally found out how to record my matches on MTGO. So, if you are wanting to see Gobots in action tap the LINK. Note, this is my first rodeo using youtube. So, the quality of the games need to be improved, and I would like to capture live instead of post game. This way, you can see everything as it is happening instead of a fast-forward capture.

    In these matches I faced:
    - Humans: 2-0-1
    - UWR: 2-0-0

    Humans is the worst MU, though from my experience its tough to beat them with removal, as they deploy so many threats efficiently.
    I am considering a different approach: push early dmg and finish of with a falter effect, the best one I found so far is Ruthless Invasion.
    If anyone is willing to test it too would be great Smile If goblins can improve the creature MUs (like humans, spirits) I believe this could be a Tier1 deck.

    Try Gruul Charm. It can also cause Spirits and Auras some heartburn with its ability to swat flyers out of the sky at instant speed. One card Humans hate is Torpor Orb, but this card hurts us too unless you have a way to pop it prior to a whack attack.

    I don't like to shun deck development, but combining Kuldotha Rebirth, Goblin Grenade, and Shrapnel Blast is not going to end with success - from my experience. I have tried to combine them, but I have never been successful in finding the "holy grail." lol On one hand, the deck is trying to hit fast, hit hard, and hit often. On the other, it is trying to launch the highest damage cost effective spells in modern. When blending the two, you run into a TON of jank. Jank can only really be applied synergistic decks i.e. robots for example that depend on the whole over the sum of its individual parts seen in gulgari midrange. But, if you can make it happen, tip of the hat and wag of the finger. :b

    Hey guys,

    I have put together a synergistic and aggressive deck that takes advantage of whites "tax" condition.

    IS THIS DECK FOR YOU?
    Now, before we go any further. Lets determine if this is the type of deck for you. For those who love to draw cards and grind out every possible second of the clock while stopping your opponent from playing MTG...this is not deck for you. Click that back button. Next in line, if you love to interact with the opponent like "I wana shoot a magic missile, I wana shoot a magic missile" go ahead and click that back button. But, if you like to dump you hand and tap sideways, while inhibiting those who love to draw cards, grind out the clock, and stop you from playing MTG this might be a good fit for you.

    WHAT IS ITS TIER LEVEL?
    This deck is a T2 deck, so wake up from those grandeurs of glory, but I wont discourage you from trying to beat up T1 decks.

    BEST TURN ONE?
    By far, dropping Thalia, Guardian of Thraben on turn one followed up by Thalia, Heretic Cathar turn two.

    THOUGHTS?
    I am considering shaving three cards for Ghostfire Blade or Thorn of Amethyst to improve the metalcraft chances while providing tilt in pump or tax. But, I have not decided yet.

    Hey Baron, that is awesome! I am very glad to hear Kuldotha topped an event. And, the new one drop goblin looks bawler. Personally, traditional goblins have a pretty solid core now. Maybe they might place more often?

    But, I've sold off my collection of MTG cards. I made 2K off of everything I sold. The only thing I kept was my Gobots. I have my MTGO account, but I haven't logged in for quite some time. I left for a couple of reasons.

    One, the modern meta tilted hard into midrange and control in a way I don't ever see changing. Here is how I state MTG to others, "MTG is a game where you play to not play MTG."

    Two, the community as a whole, it just sucks. From online to small to large communities its a pokerfaced salty crew that wish to win at any cost. Even I got caught up in it by dropping chalice of the void, blood moon, and ensnaring bridge. That's when I knew I needed to sell it off and move on.

    If I ever pick up the game again it would be simply to play gobots and traditional goblins on MTGO for good ol'times sake.

    @Noah

    I have not seen a successful list make use of Warren Instigator yet and I've been monitoring goblins for two to three years. But, if you think this bugger can break open a viable deck get brewing and tapping!

    @Clintmccool

    - Playing against any kind of 1-for-1-plus-value deck (Grixis, Jeskai, etc.) where they get Snapcaster / Electrolyze / Kcommand is absolutely brutal and usually impossible to recover from. With the increase of the cheap graveyard decks (RB Cycling, As Foretold Living End) I am seriously considering Leylines to shut off this incremental advantage as well as to shut down graveyard decks.

    - In that vein, I'm very interested in either Genesis Chamber or Shapers' Sanctuary as mentioned above. Anyone have any thoughts on those? Green splash also gets Tin Street Hooligan / Ancient Grudge / maybe Atarka's Command?

    Overall I love the deck but when it stumbles it stumbles HARD. Hoping increasing the land count will help with this. Chime in if you've got other thoughts on the above.

    You like many other goblin lords have mentioned that this meta is not prime for Goblins. I felt that pain at GP OKC. In this current meta I cannot recommend Genesis Chamber enough. It was the single most abused card in my SB and yes I won matches with it at GP OKC against control decks.

    They jury is out on Shaper's Sanctuary as it is new to my SB. If given enough time I'll have an answer for everyone, but please share the load. Smile

    Tin Street Hooligan and Ancient Grudge are musts IMO. At GP OKC I fought a Lantern "Pro Player"...it was demoralizing. He crushed the competition with a 10 and something win streak. And, Robots are still a thing. In a fun match up with nothing on the line, I challenged a Robot player. I lost most if not all the time because he drew Cranial Plating every single game out of 10 games on turn one - very very very lucky. With all this, my collective knowledge with goblins and first hand experience with the current meta in a Gobots list my recommendations for a SB are...

    Anti-Artifacts
    Anti-Activated Abilities
    Anti-Control

    Here is the reasoning. If you are playing Gobots you can race combo and beat any true aggro deck minus elves and auras. If they become a thing again we can side in Ratchet Bomb or Engineered Explosives. Every SB needs anti-artifact, that is a no brainer, and the best out there are Tin Street Hooligan and Ancient Grudge. but, Control is where we lack, and it IS the meta. Instep anti-control cards: Genesis Chamber, Shaper's Sanctuary, and Fecundity. Lastly, Tron is everywhere and they have many answers to pretty much everything, which is where the anti-activated abilities cards come into play: Pithing Needle, Sorcerous Spyglass, and Damping Matrix.

    ///

    Oh, and those interested in a Goblin list that beats the snot out of control decks and wins with goblin beats? Check this one out. But, bring your wallet as this deck is price exclusive.

    I have won so may games with this deck. Here is how it plays. In the early turns you lock your opponent out of the game. Note, once you drop Chalice you can go on the offensive with Rabble and krenko as most removal spells cost one. And, Once you drop Bridge your hoard can build up with zero cards in hand. Drop a Animosity and slap your opponent for Cranial Plating like Goblins. lol Note, this version is more one dimensional as you only have disruption and no real interaction and can only attack for the win. But, most of all the time a lock piece gives you a free win. If they don't scoop you can crack there skulls with a some very angry goblins.

    @Myrmadillo

    I haven’t had the chance to use it much as I just put it in the SB. But, I did get a chance to use it against UW Control on my way home at the airport. I landed it on turn three right before he blew up the field. I netted four or five cards, which turned into a three or four card drop whacking away. But, the testing just started. From what I can see, it’s going to be a tick before I find a good blend between the anti-control cards.

    @Bowen

    I have tested it extensively and I have won many a matche because it i.e. popping it right before turn four avoiding a sweeper, or chaining locking them out of two turns of spells, or popping it right before they go off. But, by far the most fun I had with HoG is when I canceled out an ancestral recall or double rift bolt. Though, how many times have I lost because I needed just a bit more board power in the form of BTE? IDK. But, since I’m going Gruul (light) I’m willing to give her another go.
